If you're using MS Word 2010 you can do an alt t for tools, followed by O
for options. Arrow down to, save and then tab to the browse button and
press enter. Select your default folder for saving documents to here. This
will change it for Word but I'm not positive it will change it for Outlook
or not.

Hi Jorge,
In most, if not all Microsoft applications when you perform a save as,
you have an option in that dialogue to browse for a location to save your

Once you have selected a location, that usually becomes the default.
So the next time you save something in the same application,it will be in

It is for this reason that I save everything to one location, and then move

[JAWS-Users] Word 2010 with unnecessary prompts to now save docs

2014-02-08 Thread Liuda
Hello. All of a sudden, I did nothing differently, when I go to save a Doc.
with Word 2010 and Win 7 plus JAWS 12, it does not do this simply any
longer. I am asked if I wish to remove the files or I down arrow and go to
the option to review them again, okay it and then it's done.

How can I eliminate this new and unnecessary diversion? Very annoying at
minimum and wastes a lot of time besides.

Thanks for all help and have a pleasant week end.

If you save a document and change the default folder for that document in a
particular application then that folder remains open until you close that
application. Once that application is reopened then it will revert back to
the original default folder. The only way to change the default folder
permanantly for saving is to go to tools and options and change it there.

Yes, word, outlook, excell and all MS Office applications.
If you save a document and change the default folder for that document in a
particular application then that folder remains open until you close that
application. Once that application is reopened then it will revert back to
the original default folder. The only way to change the default folder
permanantly for saving is to go to tools and options and change it there.

Rick,

It only remains the default so long as you keep that application open.
Once the application is closed and then reopened, it reverts back to the
original default location.

Hi Jorge,
In most, if not all Microsoft applications when you perform a save as,
you have an option in that dialogue to browse for a location to save your
document.
Once you have selected a location, that usually becomes the default.
So the next time you save something in the same application,it will be in
the last location you saved something to.
It is for this reason that I save everything to one location, and then move
it later .

Re: [JAWS-Users] Resetting the location of a saved new Document for Wordpad

2014-02-08 Thread Rick Justice
Hi Sharon,
In Windows XP, WordPad saves just like Notepad,
however, in Windows 7 it does not, so you must select the location each
time.
Apparently WordPad follows the same rules as Office.
If you wish to create a new document in a specific folder, while in that
folder,
go to the file menu, and then enter on New, and review your choices.

[JAWS-Users] ODD PROBLEM WITH OUTLOOK 2010

2014-02-08 Thread John Justice
I'm using Windows 7 Professional, Office 2010 Home Business and Jaws 15,
latest build.

I hadn't used this computer for quite a while. Now, when I try to open
Outlook 2010, it takes a very long time, occasionally as much as 2 minutes.

This is not a common occurrence on this machine. What could cause Outlook
2010 to slow down like that in the Startup?

Here's what I have already tried.

I went in and deleted all unnecessary files from the folders.

I can't find any kind of diagnosing tools in the system but maybe I'm
missing something.

Will it be necessary to re-install this program?

If so, do I have to re-install the entire Home Business 2010 or just the
Outlook program, itself?

Any help would be welcome.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws not reading lower ribbon in Outlook 2010

Having a strange issue, looking for suggestions. I have Windows 7 64
bit home Premium running MS Office Home Business2010. I have latest
JAWS 15 and using virtual ribbons. All ribbon functions work fine in
Word and Excel and used to be fine in Outlook. Don't use them often in
Outlook but needed to the other day. When I hit the alt key it takes
me to the top ribbons. The file ribbon I can up and down arrow through
ok. I can also arrow across all the top ribbons. However when I go to
go to the lower ribbon in any of them, for instance view, it says
lower ribbon and then nothing. No matter if I arrow, tab, whatever
there is no speaking by JAWS. If I use the JAWS cursor I hear them so
I know they are there. I even tried other versions of JAWS with same
outcome. Is there a setting or something I have inadvertently changed?

Thanks,

Al

[JAWS-Users] Problem with saving a doc in Word 2010

2014-02-08 Thread Liuda
With Win 7, JAWS 12 and Word 2010, it is no longer a straight, simple shot
to close and save a Word doc., after changes have been made to it or it has
been created for the first time.

It used to prompt me to save the doc. And the alt s did this quickly.

Now, it goes immediately to a prompt on the arrows, a choice of two if I
wish to remove the files which I do not and I arrow to review the file
later, then okay it on the tab and it will only then close properly.

This annoyance wastes a lot of time during any day.

How can I eliminate this extra work and go back to saving like everyone else
does in Word 2010?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with saving a doc in Word 2010

2014-02-08 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Liuda,

If you use function key 12 in Word 2010 the Save as dialog box should appear.
If you know where the document will be saved then you should be able to use Alt
S to complete the saving process. Using F12 brings the Save as dialog into
view, which will likely work better for you than using the save as in the back
stage view of the program. If a file has already been saved and you are just
wanting to save changes made within the document then CTRL with S should save
the modifications you made. When you use function key 12 you can confirm where
the document will be saved by using Alt D.

I hope it works for you.

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with saving a doc in Word 2010

2014-02-08 Thread Liuda
Fellows, this did the trick and I am finally back to normal which is good
this time. It amazes me how much some of you know about all programs and
from where you could have ever learned it all.
Thank you and everyone who participates in a well-designed help group,
especially our Moderators.

Hello Liuda,

If you use function key 12 in Word 2010 the Save as dialog box should
appear. If you know where the document will be saved then you should be
able to use Alt S to complete the saving process. Using F12 brings the
Save as dialog into view, which will likely work better for you than using
the save as in the back stage view of the program. If a file has already
been saved and you are just wanting to save changes made within the document
then CTRL with S should save the modifications you made. When you use
function key 12 you can confirm where the document will be saved by using
Alt D.

I hope it works for you.

Take care.

With Win 7, JAWS 12 and Word 2010, it is no longer a straight, simple shot
to close and save a Word doc., after changes have been made to it or it

It used to prompt me to save the doc. And the alt s did this quickly.

Now, it goes immediately to a prompt on the arrows, a choice of two if I
wish to remove the files which I do not and I arrow to review the file
later, then okay it on the tab and it will only then close properly.

This annoyance wastes a lot of time during any day.

How can I eliminate this extra work and go back to saving like everyone
else
 does in Word 2010?

 Thanks for all help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] ODD PROBLEM WITH OUTLOOK 2010

2014-02-08 Thread Brian Lee
Hello John,

Quite often, this kind of problem is due to an add-in not working right with
Outlook. You might want to start Outlook in safe mode to find out if it starts
faster. In Windows 7 press the Windows key and type in Outlook.EXE /safe to
open Outlook without toolbar customizations, reading pane and add-ins. If the
program opens faster then you might check your add-ins. When in Outlook use
Alt+F followed by Alt+T to go to the options. In the categories list press A
until you find the add-ins choice. Use tab key and find the Manage combo box.
Select COM add-ins from the list and tab to the Go button. Press spacebar on
the Go button. Check the list of add-ins to see if there is something that
might be causing the problem. For example, I have had the NATSpeak add-in for
Naturally Speaking cause problems in the past. You can disable add-ins and try
opening the program again. It is a matter of disabling add-ins and ruling them
out if Outlook starts the same after disabling them.

Another thing you can try is the SCANPST program. I don’t have Windows 7 here
to try it but I think you can just type scanpst.exe in the Windows start menu
search box and press enter when it appears. The program will guide you through
the process for it to search for and repair problems with your PST file. You
will need to browse to the PST file you want checked after activating the
ScanPST program. Otherwise, the ScanPST.EXE file can be found in folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

For 32-bit Windows or ,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14 if you have a 64-bit Windows
system. Press S until you find the ScanPST.EXE file and press enter on it to
start the repair process. You will need to have hidden folders showing.

I hope one of these things work for you.

Take care.

Reply-To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com
