[JAWS-Users] Jaws Authorizzation

2014-03-30 Thread Trish
Recently I had some issues after shutting down my laptop and after about 45
minutes, I turned it back on. When that booted up, jaws was in this 40 minute
mode or it was wanting to be and giving me that screen for the key info.

I provided that info, but still was experiencing something. I rebooted again,
then I called FS, and was advised to run my authorization disk so the registry
would get my key where it needs to be and recognize it as correct.

So I did this. I then checked to see if it was all in order. I had to re-enter
the key again under the part to update my SMA so it states correctly,
thankfully it did.

Now, what I want to know is, where do I look to make sure that my key is
showing so jaws does not go into this demo mode again?

Thanks,

Trish

Re: [JAWS-Users] changing font in word 2010

2014-03-30 Thread Steve
Jaws reads it fine. I've worked with numerous font styles in Word over the
years. I have drawn no real conclusions on how well OCR packages like Open
Book and Kurzweil would scan those fonts, it might be necessary to tweak the
contrast settings as the lines in the letters are a bit thinner.

But, as far as Jaws reading them in MsWord, not an issue.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Using the ribbons, how do you change the font size and type in word 2010.
There is an article that a kid figured that you will save a lot of ink if
you change to 12-point Garamond. You would save about 29 percent in ink
costs. I would like to print a few pages to have someone tell me if it is
still easy to read and scan.

When monitors were CRT tubes you might need a screen saver. Your laptop
computer is a digital display and does not need a screen saver. People still
use screen savers because they like the way they appear. They are of no value

Your screen is probably as reliable as your computer. It is no more likely

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws Authorizzation

Recently I had some issues after shutting down my laptop and after about 45
minutes, I turned it back on. When that booted up, jaws was in this 40
minute mode or it was wanting to be and giving me that screen for the key
info.

I provided that info, but still was experiencing something. I rebooted
again, then I called FS, and was advised to run my authorization disk so the
registry would get my key where it needs to be and recognize it as correct.

So I did this. I then checked to see if it was all in order. I had to
re-enter the key again under the part to update my SMA so it states
correctly, thankfully it did.

Now, what I want to know is, where do I look to make sure that my key is
showing so jaws does not go into this demo mode again?

Thanks,

Trish

Re: [JAWS-Users] Screen Saver for Laptop

2014-03-30 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

As has been said, the old CRT monitors needed to keep changing, or be
blanked out, to keep from burning a pattern into the screen. But with the
new LCD/LED monitors, this is no longer necessary. So if you want to have
the screen go blank after a period of non-activity, go into the power
settings. There you will find a setting to turn off the monitor after a
period of inactivity, which you can choose. Using this setting should also
help extend your battery life.

Hi,
When I add a new contact it saves to the contact list and not MS contact
list.
Try this:

Start a new email.
If, you shift tab you should hear contact or MS contact use your arrow to
select contact.
Then, to name only-checked.
And radio lines or something like that-unchec.
Try re adding the address and see if it saved, by using control + 3 or
control + shift + B.

I know for a fact outlook 2003 does not have a selective contact list or to
activate the address, you have to send a email to a recipient like in
outlook 07 and 10.

Or maybe your problem is here:

PressWindows +R, and type outlook / cleanviews and press enter.
Down arrow to the reading paine and press enter.
Press insert + V and press enter.
Down arrow to auto correct and check it.

That will correct your letter navigation, when selecting.

HTH,
Jorge

Doesn't seem like it should. Thanks. Judy Tallie

Tethering is different. The command is control-Jawskey-minus. I assume if
you are using a laptop keyboard with the lower number of keys, you might
need to hit the function key to give you a numpad to use the minus key.

my current screen resolution settings, I route the Jaws to the PC cursor,

Jaws will report that windows is up to date arrowing down a little more
Jaws reports that there are no updates available. Jaws doesn't report this
using other screen resolution settings, speaking for my system only.

Let me preface my next example by saying, I haven't been to system restore
in awhile, my Win7 system isn't availble to me at the moment , I don't
recall if finding this checkbox is ,with or without the use of routing the
Jaws to PC cursor.
Another scenario: In system restore, using my current screen resolution

Hi Cher,

I don't recall if this setting was discussed so, if it was I apologize.

1. After opening Adobe from your desktop or start menu shortcut, go into
preferences with control-k. JAWS lands on an item in a tree view.
If you have been here before, it will be the item you last opened. Arrow
down or, use first letter navigation to get to, Security Enhanced. Note that

this is the item below Security.
Then uncheck these 2 options, the 2nd option is not necessary to uncheck
but, optional:
Enable Protected Mode at startup, needs to be unchecked.
Enable Enhanced Security, does not need to be unchecked. Now, tab to, Okay,

press enter to save your change close Adobe preferences.
Note. When making changes in the Security Enhanced section, you will be told
that Adobe needs to be restarted.

Take care.

2014-03-30 Thread Jim Pursley
Mike..an interesting aha point. I had my XP system in 800/600
resolution mode forever because I liked the larger, thicker look of the
text. But the higher res settings do make everything on the screen
smaller and may even admit more content than my 800x600 setting will. I
manually approve Windows updates and will repeat your experiment with
the Windows update screens.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Recommended screen resolution settings

2014-03-30 Thread Mike B.
Hi Jim,

The, 1360 × 768 setting, is what I use for Win7. I still use the, 1024 ×
768 settings, for my XP systems.
Take care.

 Hi Cher,

What I'm referring to is, for example, I have a windows update shortcut on
the desktop when I click on it I'm in the windows update window, using
my current screen resolution settings, I route the Jaws to the PC cursor,
press page-up to go to the top of the page, arrow down 1 line at a time,
Jaws will report that windows is up to date arrowing down a little more
Jaws reports that there are no updates available. Jaws doesn't report
 this
using other screen resolution settings, speaking for my system only.

Let me preface my next example by saying, I haven't been to system restore
in awhile, my Win7 system isn't availble to me at the moment , I don't
recall if finding this checkbox is ,with or without the use of routing the
 Jaws to PC cursor.
Another scenario: In system restore, using my current screen resolution
settings, I can find the, Choose a different restore point radio button
 not
checked, checkbox but, using other screen resolution settings I couldn't.
Again, speaking for my experiences with my system only.

 HTH

 Take care.

Are you referring to the problem of routing JAWS to PC and not landing in
 the correct position?

 Hi Again Greg,

I forgot to mention that in settling on my screen resolution that, how
 well
nabigating with the Jaws cursor worked, was a definite factor. HTH
 Take care.

 Hi Greg,

As Rick said, sometimes it takes some playing around with the screen
resolution to come to a happy medium I.e, On my Win7 Pro desktop system,
 I
played around quite with it finally settled on a screen resolution of,
1360 × 768, with the orientation set on, Landscape, for my happy medium.
 HTH
 Take care.

 Hi Greg,
Starting with Windows 7, there is no recommended display resolution for
 Jaws,per-say,
Many use 1024 by 768, but it will vary from system to system.
I have found that on many systems Jaws seems to work fine with what the
 system chooses as the default
based on the hardware and software installed.
Sometimes you can adjust the display for better performance which may be
 good for some programs,
but not others, so you usually end up with looking for a happy medium.
 HTH,
 Rick Justice

 Tomorrow's another day, another way!

I am using Jaws 13 on a windows 7 64 bit laptop computer. What is the
recommended screen resolution settings for such a computer?
 Thanks,
 Greg Washington
