[JAWS-Users] JAWS With PC Matic

2014-08-13 Thread Aran_A

Hello,

I am looking for a JAWS friendly antivirus software.

I read that PC Matic performed the best in detecting known and unknown viruses.
(Yes, PC Matic has very high false alarms, but mostly for professional
software, and hopefully not what most of us use on a daily base.)

Does anyone here have any experience using PC Matic with JAWS, and is it JAWS
friendly?

Thank you!

Just a note: Your message is fine but please try and be a little more
descriptive in your subject lines in the future.

Sometimes Spam filters go by some of the message content and not only by the
address. I have had this problem a number of times over the years. This is
simply because this domain generates a huge amount of email traffic, even
though it is safe it's just the fact there is so much of it.

Hi Diane

You probably have already checked, but have you checked your junk or spam
folder for messages from the group? I suggest this, because some of this
groups messages go into my inbox, while some messages end up in my junk box.
Not sure why this happens, because it isn't member specific on the messages
that end up in my junk box. And I do have the group email saved in my
contacts.

Just wanted to let the list know, I have gotten three messages today.
We are improving a bit. Not sure what is going on but maybe with
 time, it will get better.

if this is your first time installing Web Visum, installation maybe
different than what I do, but the way that I do it is start Firefox, go to
the add-on manager in the tools menu, and do a search for Web Visum. Then
using JFW's OCR, find and click on the install button. after it's done,
you'll get a message to restart Firefox to complete installation, but I'm
not sure if you'll get a verbal announcement or you'll have to check with
another OCR, this time just to see if it's time to restart. Others on this
list might have easier or direct methods, but my method works okay for me.

[JAWS-Users] JAWS incompatibilit with Word and Excel

2014-08-13 Thread Csaba Godo

Hi everybody!

I need urgent help!

Something happened with my PC running Vista as OS and I can't use JAWS
and MS Office together. When JAWS runs (ie. JFW.exe is in the memory as
a process) I can't start Word and Excel of any MS Office versions. (I
tried it with Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 - namely all versions I have.)
But other MS Office products, like FrontPage, PowerPoint, Access runs in
this case. Word and Excel signs immediately at start an system error and
Windows tells me that the net will be searched for problem solvings but
finds nothing and asks me to close the program. When I stop JAWS, (ie.
removes JFW process from the memory) and use an other screen reader app
both program runs normally. What is the problem with JAWS? All installed
JAWS versions cause this problem. (I have installed version 9, 11 and
14.) I tried to reinstall JAWS completly but without any success. I
removed all components and also the registry was cleaned, too before the
new installation.) I would need use JAWS with this apps, because I write
special JAWS scripts for them.

Could help me anybody?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for responding. I'm not sure about whether Verizon has a spam blocker
at this time, but I did have one years ago and it was definitely not user
friendly with JAWS. I Googled Postini and it appears that Google will be
discontinuing the program soon. I'm now still asking if anyone knows of a
spam blocking program that works well with JAWS. It doesn't need to be a
free one, that's how desperate I am right now. Thanks.

Does Verizon offer a spam blocker with their internet service? I was
pleased with Postini until our internet host changed it to Red Condor
because Postini wasbought by Google. Red Condor is not very accessible,
but you might do a search for postini and see what comes up. It's logical
that Google will make the service available to its e-mail accounts.
Perhaps you can get the program on your own.

Blocking individual e-mails, unfortunately, is like blocking dike leaks
with your fingers - the source of the spam is not affected when you block
emails sent from a mailing list.

the only choice I have is to block the senders. Well, I've already
blocked so many addresses and when the gentleman from MS checked, he
agreed. He said that I have over 700 addresses blocked and that was about
two weeks ago. Please, please this is getting out of control and I don't

Re: [JAWS-Users] Is there a Spam Blocker program that works well with JAWS?

2014-08-13 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

You might want to consider changing your email address. It's a real pain to
change your email address, having to notify your friends and family and
re-subscribe to all your email list, but it might be the only solution. If
your current address has just gotten into the hands of too many spammers, an
anti-spam program may not be able to keep up. If you do change addresses,
you might want to consider setting up multiple addresses, such as one for
personal stuff and another for email lists. Then if the spam starts again
in the future, you'll at least have an idea of how your address got
out

Hi,
Thanks for responding.

Red Condor is not very
accessible, but you might do a search for postini and see what comes
up. It's logical that Google will make the service available to its
e-mail accounts.
Perhaps you can get the program on your own.

Blocking individual e-mails, unfortunately, is like blocking dike
leaks with your fingers - the source of the spam is not affected when
you block emails sent from a mailing list.

I think somebody mentioned this issue before but I'm not certain.
However, I'm using excel 2013 and while jaws reports the information and
data for a given cell it's my understanding that some data actually
bleeds over in to the next cell although Jaws doesn't indicate this is
happening. I'm sure my spread sheet would not be visually appealing to
the sighted eye if I needed to share it with someone. How can I ensure
that the data stays within the intended cell?

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 14 reading e-mail

2014-08-13 Thread Liuda
Hello.

Today, I installed JAWS 14. I use Outlook 2010 and Win. 7.

When I enter on a message and expect it to read automatically, like it did
with V12, it does not.

Instead I hear, this message has two links and it stops right there.

What can I specifically do to get JAWS to read messages and forget about all
of those unnecessary details it reads about the message?

Thanks for your help.

Well if you are using windows seven and you need to know which windows
seven you have you can type system information in the search box and hit
enter. The first thing that comes up is system summary. You can tab down
once and it will tell you which windows seven you have. For example mine
says windows seven home primium. For other OS info you I will have to
defer to the list. (smile)
