So now it's time to put this to bed and get back to the normal business of this

me explain how to get to the quarantine folder in both versions of vipre
antivirus. In vipre 2014, you simply open the interface, hit alt V for view,
navagate with your arrow keys, to where it says manage malware, and the
quarantine folder is right their, with vipre 2015, open the interface, tab
to the radio button that says manage navagation, space on that button, then

[JAWS-Users] JAWS 16 update

2015-04-27 Thread Pinky
Hi Group,

I would like to know if the new update for JAWS 16 is causing any issues
using the high quality voice of Tom. I thought I read on this list that
some people were having issues with some voices not working properly. Also
if there is any other issue with the last update of JAWS?

Thanks in advance.

not choppy? I have tried several times to use Tom as my primary voice but I
just can't get the voice smoothed out so it is not choppy. I do like the voice
very much but I continue to use eloquence.

I successfully installed the speak dropbox program. However, when I
launched it from the system tray to give it a look see once I exited
from the program I can no longer locate it in the system tray. I thought
using jaws key 11 would solve the problem since sometimes more items
show there but no go. Is there something I can configure to fix the
issue. I am glad I downloaded the program instead of just running it so
if push comes to shove so to speak I'll be able to reinstall it.

not having much luck.
I have downloaed and installed a voice but don't really understand how to use
it, can anyone point me in the direction of any training material or even give
me a quick rundown of how I can use these voices and flick between them if that
is possible.
You seem to have to set up a new voice profile and then make this your default?

Many thanks in anticipation for any help.

Hi Bob,

Noone thinks you are stupid I don't understand how you came to that
assumption because you have a different way of navigating to the
Quarantine
folder. Kevin mentioned that by going to the Quarantine option in the
main

interface, it was read only, he couldn't delete the entries. Or, that's
the way I understood the post. All I did was give him another option! I'm
very sorry that if people don't use your way that we're doing things the
hard way we supposedly think you're stupid! This list has many ppeople
giving various options for doing all kinds of various tasks noone has
been

called stupid because 1 person does something a little different than
someone else! I'm sorry if I sound harsh because I don't want to come
across that way, I just want you to understand that we all do things a
little differently depending on the task /job at hand , what does it
matter

which method a person uses as long as they get the task accomplished. No
hard feelings here.
Take care.

All right, you guys are making this complicated then what it really is!
let

me explain how to get to the quarantine folder in both versions of vipre
antivirus. In vipre 2014, you simply open the interface, hit alt V for
view,

navagate with your arrow keys, to where it says manage malware, and the
quarantine folder is right their, with vipre 2015, open the interface, tab
to the radio button that says manage navagation, space on that button,
then

tab twice, and you’ll see an idem called manage quarantine! Mike B, that’s
all you need to tell him, it’s that simple. Now I hope my explaination
made
sense! you just had to make it so difficult for Kevin Lee. Do people think
I’m

stupid on here? Or what!

[JAWS-Users] NEW COMPUTER, WINDOWS 8.1 MUCH BETTER THAN WINDOWS 7

2015-04-27 Thread David Moore
Hi, I read you want to get a new computer with your sighted husband.
Windows 8.1 is great, because there are more keyboard commands and you
can have your computer start up on the desktop. With Windows 8.1, you
get to use the start screen with all of the apps tiles on it. Here's
the thing. When you press the windows key, even though you are on a
app screen instead of the start menu, you can just start typing your
search just like you do in Windows 7. Also, the control panel has a
search box as well. I love this! With Windows 8.1, the files
explorer is much better than Windows explorer in Windows 7. All you
have to do with 8.1, is to press the windows+E, and shift tab once.
Under this PC, you have every single folder you ever need. Documents,
downloads, your hard drive, for example. All you have to do is press
enter on documents, for example, and tab to the contents of the
documents folder. But, here is the best thing about Windows 8.1!
There are many many key commands you can navigate with by pressing the
Windows key + a letter. For example, if you press windows + X, you
get a small list of choices with control panel right there, the task
manager right there, and so on. These windows + a letter commands
will get you where you need to go much much faster than using windows
7. Also, Freedomscientific over the last year, has done many many
free webinars on using JAWS with 8.1! If you listen to Dan Clark
teaching in all of these webinars, you will celebrate you bought
Windows 8.1 instead of the old Windows 7. Write me off-line, and I
will tell you much more about why you should have Windows 8.1! So
many people on this list don't know what they are missing. Being able
to use the touch cursor to use the apps excites me so much, because
that is what so many sighted people are using now! Take care and go
Windows 8.1! I don't know if I even want to mess with Windows 10! I
love what I have with 8.1

Re: [JAWS-Users] NEW COMPUTER, WINDOWS 8.1 MUCH BETTER THAN WINDOWS 7

2015-04-27 Thread valiant8086

Hi.
You are sure to like windows 10 then, as it keeps the same layout as
windows 8.1, but brings some of the stuff only about half way back to
the old windows 7 way of doing things. The windows x stuff is still
there, and there are even more keystrokes if I'm not mistaken than in
windows 8.1. Windows explorer scared me for a while because they have
implemented a new home folder that windows+e lands you on. This folder
is nice, because you can put shortcuts to what ever you want easy access
to in there, including your hard drive and what ever else. Neat, but I
do prefer the this pc folder, so the folder options dialogue now
includes a choice as to which you would like your default windows
explorer location to be. I put mine back to this pc and it works just
fine. I believe you'll be pleased enough when the time comes.

Re: [JAWS-Users] dropbox 3.4.3

2015-04-27 Thread valiant8086

Hi.
It could be that you accidentally closed the program by the way you
exited the speakDropbox menu. You can re launch it from the short cut in
your start menu (it's just called speakDropbox).

Other than that, my recommendation is that you do away with the
notification chevron thing entirely, do that by setting it to always
show all notifications in the notification area. You can find how to get
to the notification area customizations that you need for that in
another message that someone posted to this thread.

To summarize, one of two things happened.

1. You closed speakDropbox
2. your computer decided to hide the speakDropbox icon.

Btw, if you need to verify if it just got closed, try to get it to speak
the dropbox status using the speak dropbox status hotkey (alt+windows+d
by default). Alt+windows+m will open the speakDropbox menu (if it can
find it), but if that icon is hidden from you, speakDropbox won't be
able to find its own icon either.

I probably should mention all this in the troubleshooting section of the
documentation, I actually don't know why I didn't.

suspending Jaws with Jaws key plus Spacebar and then S. You can bring Jaws

Hi.
You are sure to like windows 10 then, as it keeps the same layout as
windows 8.1, but brings some of the stuff only about half way back to the
old windows 7 way of doing things. The windows x stuff is still there, and
there are even more keystrokes if I'm not mistaken than in windows 8.1.
Windows explorer scared me for a while because they have implemented a new
home folder that windows+e lands you on. This folder is nice, because you
can put shortcuts to what ever you want easy access to in there, including
your hard drive and what ever else. Neat, but I do prefer the this pc
folder, so the folder options dialogue now includes a choice as to which
you would like your default windows explorer location to be. I put mine
back to this pc and it works just fine. I believe you'll be pleased enough
when the time comes.

Hi Kevin,

Here's another little tip I do with another folder I need to access in the
All Users folder. With all folders system folders unhidden / showing:
1. Highlight the, All Users, jfolder but, don't open it, just highlight it.
2. Open the context menu with the application key or the, Shift + F10,
keystroke.
3. Navigate to the, Send To submenu, press enter or right arrow to open. If
you press the letter, N, after opening the context menu it will put you into
the Send To submenu.
4. Arrow down to, Desktop Create Shortcut, press enter. This will put a
shortcut for the All Users folder on your desktop.
5. After you hide all your folders system folders, you can copy the
desktop All Users shortcut paste it into your Users folder in the root of
the C drive. If you don't want the All Users shortcut on the desktop, cut
it instad of copying it paste it in the Users folder, startmenu or, pin it
to the taskbar. The point being, with this shortcut you can now always
access the All Users folder without going through the hassle of unhiding all
the folders system folders.

Note: When you create the shorcut it reads, All Users - shortcut, you can
rename it by highlighting the shortcut, press the, F2 key, rename the
shortcut, press enter to save the changed name. Personally, I always
delete the spaces, the dash, the word shortcut off the end press enter.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Vocalizer expressive voices with jaws!

2015-04-27 Thread Bob Edenhofer
Fred, to answer your question, it’s not a matter of smoothing it out, you just
download and install it, and unload jaws and relaunch it. I’m not sure why it’s
choppy on your end.

Hi Leonard,

Below are various steps for customizing the Taskbar so items will show in
the System Tray:
From: CrisM

To get the icons to show up in the system tray, go to your desktop, tab down
three times till you land on Notifications or something, then press the
applications key and press enter on the customize notifications icon option.
From there, you'll be able to move and and select which icons you want to
appear in the system tray. I had this same issue and someone on here
suggested this solution to me and it worked.
Cris

From: Rick Justice

Open the start menu, and type the following in the search box:
notification
In the results, you should find, notification area icons, make sure that
this is selected, and press enter.
When the dialogue opens, you will probably hear Jaws say, okay button, so
just tab until you get into the list of applications.
Each time you tab, you will be on a different application, and using the up
and down arrows will select the behavior of that icon.
When you have finished making your changes, simply tab to the okay button,
and press enter to close the dialogue.

You might have figured it out already, but if not, here is what you can do
in Windows 7. After setting JAWS to start in the system tray, move to the
notification area using Windows key + B. Find the Notification Chevron
button
and press spacebar on it. Use up arrow key to the Customize choice and
press enter key. If focus moves away from the notification area while using
up or down arrow key, move back to it using Windows key + B, and if
necessary
use the chevron button again. After using the Customize button, use tab key
several times until you find Application file for JAWS. As you tab across
the window, you will find combo boxes for various programs. Each combo box
has three choices. In the combo box for the application file for JAWS, use
the up arrow key until the choice for showing JAWS in the notification area
is
in focus. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar. The JAWS icon should
now be in the notification area.
Take care.

Hi.
The key stroke you are looking for is insert + f4.

You'll get a prompt do you really want to shut down jaws, press enter.

To start jaws again (you can do this without narrator running even),
press windows key +r to open your run dialogue. If doing this with no
speech wait a few seconds to give it time to open, then type, jaws16
(replace 16 with your version number, and don't forget that there is no
space between jaws and the number) and then press enter. That should do
the trick.

Insert plus Control and s. It's a toggle. Hit the combo again when you
want JAWS to fire up again.

[JAWS-Users] unselecting hot key

2015-04-27 Thread Pinky
Hi Group,

I am having a brain fart today and I can't remember what the hot key
combination is to unselect an item when I am in the save as box. Another
words when I am going to save a file and I am going down through the list of
files in my documents how do I unselect the document file. I thought the
unselect hot key was ctrl+spacebar. When I just have my document files open
and not at the save box I can unselect just using the ctrl+spacebar. But
when I have the save as box open and I am in the document list ctrl+spacebar
does not unselect. Is this a JAWS issue or am I doing something wrong? I am
using Win 7and Office 2010. Also when saving a file and you have the save as
box up and have the name of your file enter can you just hit ctrl+s to save
the file?

Thanks in advance.

When I want to save a document I hit control S. Jaws asks me how I want to
save the file and I type in the name. If I change my mind or make a mistake
I just backspace and retype the name of the file. If the name is selected I
just treat it like any other selected text. If I want to unselect it I
simply hit an arrow.

Michael B! I’m sorry for getting edgy over the situation, my goal is to make
friends on this list who are totally blind like myself, so I truly
understand that people have different ways of doing things, so therefore, it’s
a preference. So on that note, I’ll politely ask you verry politely to
