Re: [JAWS-Users] FS windows 10 upgrade info
These links that you have posted all refer to Windows Media Center, not Windows Media Player. Windows Media Center, capable of playing DVD's and streaming television, was last seen in Windows 7, and has not been a part of Windows 8 nor 8.1. It has been available as an add on for these operating systems, but at an additional price which as I remember, was not cheap. Windows Media Player is still around, and I believe it will remain in Windows 10. Re: [JAWS-Users] FS windows 10 upgrade info
I'd been waiting on a good deal to snag a tower for my business figuring retailers would want to start clearing out the Win 8.1 machines and offer discounted pricing for back to school specials. I jumped on an HP Pavilion 8 GBr ram, 2 TB hard drive with 6 USB ports (2 USB3.0) for $275.00. It came with Windows 8.1, so I guess I can take the time to learn enough of the current OS until V-10 is better supported by Jaws or just stick with 8.1. Anyone have an idea of how steep the learning curve is going to be between 8.1 and 10 in general? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Pablo Morales Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2015 1:04 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] FS windows 10 upgrade info Yes, jaws is ready, the new internet browser edge will not be very accessible with jaws. Ron, I'd advise you to go to FSCast and listen very closely to episode 109. Re: [JAWS-Users] FS windows 10 upgrade info
I don't recall FS saying to wait. What I heard was that it's ok to wait, and those who are a bit less tech savvy might choose to wait. I'm personally going to try it on a machine that I don't need for anything truly important first. I'm lucky enough to have one of those right now. Once I'm comfortable with that, then I'll upgrade my other machines. [JAWS-Users] Fatal Error Message
Hi all, I am getting a serious message when I try to open a PDF document in Adobe Reader using my Windows 8.1 laptop. When I enter on any PDF document, I get this message about Adobe. Fatal Error Adobe failed to connect to DDE server Under this, there is an Okay button and that is all there is on the screen. I would appreciate any help you can give me on why I am getting this message. Adobe Reader never opens, instead, I just get that short message with an Okay button. When I enter on that Okay button, the message will not leave the screen. Thank you so much for any ideas or what I should do. It is scarey when it says Fatal Message at the top. Thanks a lot and have a great day, all of you. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] FS windows 10 upgrade info
This is a valid question and I think Londa has the right idea. If you are tech savvy, and especially if you have a computer that is not your primary machine, then you might go ahead with the upgrade to 10 and start to use it. JAWS, MAGic, Openbook, and Wynn have all been tested and verified with Windows 10. But there are lots of unknown issues which can always occur, once thousands of computer users start upgrading. Microsoft is concerned since the upgrade is going to be received by so many all at once I think. Waiting a few weeks, to let the dust settle, could be a good option.
