Re: [JAWS-Users] ram needed for jaws download

That sounds like a Lott of space. I am sure that it only takes around 256 MV of
RAM to download and much less than 1 TB of hard drive space to store and run

Hi Kurt,

For Word (all recent versions I think) press control plus shift plus f. That
will take you to the Font dialog box. You'll land in the list of fonts.
Arrow down or use first letter navigation to select the font you want to
make the default font. Press ALT plus D to activate the make default button.
Then tab to okay button. This will affect all new documents, not current
ones. Hope that's what you wanted.

Not sure about Excel 2010 because I don't have it. In Excel 2013 you go to
Options and look in the General category for the title When creating new
workbooks. There is a box called Use This Font where you can set the font.
If you need more detailed instructions let me know. But like I say I don't
have 2010 and never used it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] rolling back windows 10

2015-09-13 Thread Daniel
Hello all,
To roll back to windows 7, do the following. Go to control panel. In control
panel go to the recovery option. At this point, use narrator since this area of
windows 10 does not work with any screen readers including JAWS. Then use caps
lock+right arrow to find the go back to windows 7 option. Press it. You will
get a getting things ready screen, and then a confirmation of what you're
about to do. Press the okay button. At this point, you will get a screen which
says restoring windows, with no speech available. Just wait until you here the
windows startup sound. Note: this option is only available a month after you
upgrade to windows 10. Also, upgrading to an insider build and/or running
defragment and optimize drives will delete the necessary files for the rollback
to windows 7.
Hope this helps,
Daniel

display on the desktop to check an icon press spacebar close this window

if internet explorer is not on the desktop press the win key arrow down to

arrow down to internet explorer press application key select show
application internet explorer will show in a new window on that icon press

Hi

Try navigating to one of the html files you want to open, but don't press
enter to open it. Press the applications key or shift+f10 to bring up the
context menu. Arrow down to the open with submenu and press right arrow to
open it. In this submenu, you will find several programs that can be used
to open the file. Press enter on one of them to open the file in that
program. Also there should be an option to choose the default program to
always open html files with a specific program so you won't have to use the
open with menu all the time.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Help with Vocalizer Expressive default voice

2015-09-13 Thread Daniel Semro
Hi Martin,

What you want to do is once you're focused on the vocalizer expressive
voice profile (jaws key+j for the jaws window, alt+o for options, v
for voices, v again for voice adjustment, v for vocalizer expressive)
tab till you hear "voice adjust colon" and from the combo box, choose
"all contexts"

That should do what you want to do.

Adam, you can always go to the start button, with windows key and type in C:
or file explorer or windows key and letter E.
I have a new windows 10 Toshiba laptop and besides finding tutorials to
listen to about maximizing the use of the user interface, a lot has been
learned exploring.
But the initial search field on the start button can usually get you where
you need to go.
Try typing in the search box the word "places" and you get taken to a
control allowing you to check items you want on the start menu.
So I am just now starting week 2 of this new operating system. Meanwhile I
still have my windows 7 on another Toshiba laptop.

Hi all,

have just put jaws on my wife's pc.

I'm used to in windows 7 using windows e to bring up file explorer and then
being put on drive c and so on.

From my understanding with win10 this pc now does a similar thing.

When I go to this pc there are a lot of other options to do with recent
files and folders.
Is there a way to have win10 behave similarly to win7 or is this the
learning curve that people talk about?
I'm not going to upgrade my machines yet till I'm proficient at using my
wife's.
