Rewind and fast-forward are not available for all files. Yes, ctrl-shift-b is normally innefective. So, if you back- tab a number of times (about 20) you come to the Seek left/right slider which gives the number of seconds that have elapsed in the file or track playing. If you hit left-arrow or up-arrow you will be taken back - 1/20 for each press. Thus, in a file of 30 mins, one press of the left-arrow key here equals about 90 seconds back. just to let you all know mouse echo is nothing new. NVDA has had very good mouse echo for the past 6 years or so now. Jaws is pretty much just now copying what NVDA has already done. Making jaws run faster and restricting virtual cursor to dialogs on websites is good though and I may use that feature. Hi Kevin, have you tried Recuva by Piriform? It's a small easy to use program that's suppose to help to recover files from damaged drives. I have used it in the past with success, but I haven't in awhile. Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem With Messages Stuck In Drafts Folder In Outlook 2016
Hi Tom, I had the exact situation you described. Using Windows 10, JAWS 17, and Office 365, there was an occasion that a message or two would not leave the drafts folder from within Outlook 2016 despite the fact that the messages were sent. Like you, deleting did not work; Shift+Delete was also tried to no avail. Rather than doing the legwork to locate a potential setting configuration in Outlook, I signed into my Gmail account using the web interface and deleted the offending messages from the drafts folder. I have since not had this problem. Re: [JAWS-Users] flash drive
Are you saying that your drive was automatically formatted? That doesn't normally happen, as it is a setting that can be chosen or not. The switch for write protection is very hard to find actually. It is in one of the cut-outs on the drive and can usually be found and slid with fingernails, which I don't have because I bite them. I am trying to help someone I know. She uses JAWS 17 and/or Magic 13. her message follows: "I find that my JAWS reads across a webpage or other document so that, say, if there are three columns of text, the reading winds up in making no sense at all. How can I set JAWS to read one column top to bottom then start the next column?" I don't know if the columns are laid out in a table or not. I am waiting for acknowledgement. meanwhile, any ideas? Hi Just use the url https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en every time to open Google. You may want to create a Google shortcut with that URL to reduce the amount of typing or if you start Google from the favorites menu edit the Google shortcut to use that URL. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of korbamukesh Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2016 07:26 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding google instant yes, i have done it exactly. it works only for that session and once i reopen the browser and go to google.com website, again this instant feature appears. jaws even reads never show instant results checked. any further solution would be welcomed. thanks, On 9/10/16, Gerald Levy wrote: > > On the search settings page, be sure to hit the space bar on the radio > button labeled, "never show instant results" and then activate the > okay button to save your settings. > > Gerald > > > > -Original Message- > From: korbamukesh > Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2016 6:44 AM > To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com > Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding google instant > > hello, > when i visited this URL and clicked on search settings under settings > menu, there i could already see that the required option never show > instant was selected. but when i open the browser and typed the > address www.google.com the instant results are again displayed. > so would like to know the permanent solution as these settings are > discarded once i reopen the browser. > thanks, > > On 9/10/16, Gerald Levy wrote: >> >> You can permenantly suppress Google instant results by using the >> following version of Google and selecting the radio button on the >> search settings page >> >> to never show instant results: >> >> https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0&hl=en >> >> Gerald >> >> >> >> -Original Message- >> From: korbamukesh >> Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2016 5:06 AM >> To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com >> Subject: [JAWS-Users] regarding google instant >> >> Hello, >> This is the query related to the google search. Re: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS with the BI40 display via bluetooth.
At work for the past 6 months we have not been able to get our Focus 40 and 80 braille displays to work on our Del Ultrabook's and our new light weight HP laptops. During that time we have worked with FS/VFO, Microsoft and our own IT department and have not been able to resolve the issue. In July we got to the finger pointing stage and we were getting nowhere. On Friday we had a different manufacturer come in and they were able to get there displays to work. That is all I have to say on this topic. [JAWS-Users] Problem With Messages Stuck In Drafts Folder In Outlook 2016
Hello, everyone. I am having an interesting problem with my personal g-mail account in Outlook 2016 in Office 365 here. For reasons I don't fully understand, I have 5 messages stuck in my drafts folder, that I can't seem to get rid of. These are messages that were successfully sent over the past few days, but they still appear in my drafts folder. I have tried deleting each item, esentially moving them to the deleted items folder and emptying that folder with no luck. I have even selected and individually deleted each message. When I have individually deleted each message, I was informed that the deletions would be permanent, which was fine with me. The items get deleted from my deleted items folder, and even temporarily from my drafts folder, but within a few minutes, they re-appear in my drafts folder again, as if nothing ever happened. How can I get rid of these messages in my drafts folder once and for all? Dr. Tom Behler from Michigan For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
