I forward messages using the top line menus. Alt M gets you the message menu and f gets you forward. No need to remember hot keys. After hitting f a new email pops up with the forwarded text below it You should land right on the "To" line. Many roads up Thunderbird mountain. Hey Mike, My Asus was so simple. I could hold down the Function key and turn the touch pad off and on, adjust brightness, set up an external display and so on. Why would HP even have a Function key if it is so difficult to make work. Do you have an extra barstool? I love the signature line and I am sure that my wife will be crazy about it too. Re: [JAWS-Users] web site and jaws
Hi, David. I've just gone through the process up to the point of selecting Rome as a destination. Let me see if I can recall the steps. First, there is a line near the top of the page, as JAWS reads it, that asks you to "continue" in English. Although JAWS doesn't say it's a link, it is. I pressed enter. On the next page, I went down to the link for "flights" and pressed enter. ON the next page, I went down to "return" and made that selection. Now I was presented with several options, one of them being an edit field that shows the website recognized my location. That is, the field named New York and the local airports. As I say, it's an edit field, so if I wanted, I could enter another city or airport. Clearly, it's meant for my departure and ultimate return location. I kept it at New York. Right underneath that edit field is one that's unlabeled. I took a chance and typed in Rome. After waiting a moment, I refreshed the page with JAWS key+escape, and not only Rome appeared, but also the relevant airports. I stopped there. I hope this helps you and your client get you over the initial hurdle. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Whitehead Sent: Tuesday, August 01, 2017 2:12 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] web site and jaws Hello; Well, trying to setup a trip, On the web site is not easy. Re: [JAWS-Users] a short introduction
It's never too late Kim. I usually prefer Braille to sound although I use sound as a supportive tool if I need to scroll fast on documents or if Braille misbehaves, but naughtily enough, I prefer working, with the help of Mr. Jaws and my display of course, while I am listening to music mostly from stations around the world. It is a pity that Pandora radio, a network purporting to include everything in terms of musical genres, is not available in Europe yet. HI. Yes, but I imagine (hope?) both those programmes are cofigurable. Alphabetical order is no way I would ever want to store music except on my CD shelves, and any programme that wouldn't let you change that is performing a grave injustice on listeners. Re: [JAWS-Users] Interesting Issue
Hey Jerry. I'm not familiar with the programme you used to rip these files, but most ripping software will let you choose both how the filenames are structured, and what sort of metadata is contained within these files. The way I formerly had my filenames structured, what you described would also happen. I had the filenames like this: Artist name - track number (without preceding 0s) - track name. This makes for easy reading but doesn't always work well with players. Since my girlfriend's car stereo has a port for a uSb drive, I've now changed the format to the way most people do theirs. iE, the first track on an album is just named "01 - trackname.mp3" or somesuch. I'm not even sure the stereo reads the metadata at all; it seems to work by filename. Anyway, just see how your ripper is set up and work from there. There should be documentation explaining how to alter the format. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of jyandt.mar...@comcast.net Sent: Tuesday, August 1, 2017 1:12 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Interesting Issue Morning all. [JAWS-Users] files in numerric order
If you want the files to be in the correct numeric order, you have to add a 0 or two 0s if you've got hundreds. You'd need 01, 02, 03, then, after 09 would come 10. If you've got hundreds, you'll need to rename your first file 001, eventually get to 010, then, finally get to 100 etc. thankfully, renaming that way isn't a major task. karen For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to copy audio files and maintain track order.
Going to have to edit the file metadata. I've always used MP3Tag for this. A quick Google search will bring up the page. I use an older version since it's always worked well for me and is fully Jaws accessible. I tried upgrading once, but found it wasn't as intuitive as the version I was using. In any event, editing the tags so the files are labeled 01, 02, 03, etc as far as numeration will resolve that issue. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Tim Ford Sent: Tuesday, August 1, 2017 10:29 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] How to copy audio files and maintain track order. [JAWS-Users] List Guidelines Reminder
Hello and welcome to the JAWS Users list. This list has been created for The purpose of discussing all aspects of the JAWS for Windows screen reader Program. So everything that pertains to JAWS is fair game. Such as asking about what software packages work well with JAWS or how to make them work even better with scripts, keyboard short cuts and so forth. Another example could be requesting information on how to do something in Microsoft Word, which as we all know works very well with JAWS, but you need to know how to do a certain task or want to learn a way to accomplish it more efficiently. Now this is a very important point in my opinion, asking the list for exact instructions every time is not a good thing to do for a major reason. It creates a dependency situation even if you don't realize it does. The ideal place I am hoping the list will arrive at some day is that everybody no matter how new they might happen to be with JAWS or computers will have the confidence to try things on their own, and yet feel if they get stuck the list will be there to help put them back on track. Trust me when I say that help is quicker to arrive for somebody who is well known to ask for it last than first. So try it yourself first whatever it is. If you get stuck then let the list know what you've done to try and resolve your current dilemma. Then I'm sure help will arrive with in short order. Next a post asking if there is a software package that does a specific task and works well with JAWS is perfectly fine. The rules of conduct are quite simple and straightforward. Be polite and Patient with others. There will be absolutely no fighting, and no bashing of Freedom Scientific on here at all. If you have a problem with them then take it up with Freedom Scientific directly. Please try to keep subject lines relevant and descriptive as possible. Signatures and tag lines should not be more than a couple of sentences, three or four at the most. If you wish to include a tag line, don't make another message of it. Placing anything else in there simply increases the bandwidth required to handle the posted message and make it more work for a person who wishes to follow the given thread back to review previous messages, as they have to plow down past an overly long signature. Also please place your message above your signature line so as not to force people to read it before they get to your message. Also any newsletters except those that directly pertain to JAWS should not be posted to the list prior to receiving moderator approval. Attachments are removed before any message is sent to the list. This is done for your protection. The message list might state that there is an attachment but in fact Mailman does remove them. When contacting any of the list moderators privately please be descriptive in the subject line as to the purpose of the message. Many of us simply delete messages from people we don't know. At the present time there are over 700 subscribers to this list, so we can't possibly know everybody on here. Also, if you have a question for the list that falls within the guidelines, then post it accordingly. Don't contact the management team with questions that are more appropriate for the list itself. Your question may or may not receive an answer for a number of reasons. Everybody should familiarize themselves with the content contained in the footer message that accompanies every message posted to the list. Occasionally there might be some difficulty with your email address and you may receive an email from the server asking you to reactivate your account. Please do not simply delete this message. Instead open it and follow the directions to reactivate your account. If you do not after receiving a number of such messages then the server will remove your email address automatically. The discussion of anything illegal is absolutely forbidden, along with flirting or other such inappropriate activities. This is not a high tech swap shop or anything of that nature at all. This means that goods and or services will not be bought or sold using this forum. If you know a given subject is off topic then don't post it. Simply placing off topic in the subject line does not make it all right. Posting to a single address IE this list is the preferred acceptable practice as we do not allow cross posting. That is simply posting to more than one list or address in the same message. You can post the same message to multiple list, but not at the same time. Now to the matter of replying to a posted message: The proper practice is to simply hit the reply command in your respective email client, IE control + R is used quite often in many programs. Replying to all, for example control + shift + R in Windows Live Mail will only serve to get your message flagged by the server for having too many recipients. Then at that point your message gets held for one of us to accept or
