[JAWS-Users] skype 8.2.5 scripts

Hi helpers,


today i got skype update to version 8.25 and after I loged in with this 
new version I found that my skype scripts are not working on skype. I 
believe this is because I had installed new version of skype. I tried to 
find scripts for this version over google but unfortunately I am unable 
to find scripts for this 8.25 version. If any of you encounter this 
issue and have solution for that please let me know.

Hmmm, might be an issue with windows 10 and the video intercept. You might call 
tech support on that one. I'm using windows 7, so it's not the same.

I am using windows10 and no other app is active when i am working with excel 
accept skype. I even quit and relaunch jaws many time and i installed new

Thanks for your help, I though setuped my message stile but the main issue is 
remain same, if I open up any email in order to close it neither space nore 
alt+f4 is working, if I press escape the cursor is still in mail message and if 
I press alt+f4 it close thunderbird!

Totally spaced a very important step: launch Thunderbird then press alt 
+ t then o. This will bring up the setting window. arrow to general then 
tab once. uncheck start with Thunderbird homepage. here is an example:

When Thunderbird launches, show the Start Page in the message area check 
box checked

Thanks, I just installed thunderbird and configure my email id. Few things 
which I want you to assist me on ?

1. Messages are in disending order, means the latest message is showing in the 
end of the list. I want latest message is to appear on the top of the list.
2. 2. When I enter on message it wont open that particular email, I want to 
know how to open message and how to close it because when I press alt+f4 it 
closes thunderbird.
3. 3. How I can arrange messages in conversation mode ?

I am using ms excel2013 and using jaws18 with it but I am facing issue while 
using edit command “f2” to edit or delete any text, jaws never read it when i

Hello this is my second message to this list I’m not sure if my messages are 
arriving there or not I’m actually using Windows 10 mail application and this 
application cannot load my all Hotmail account messages I want to know if there 
is bug or what if you guys have any better solution rather than Windows 10 mail 
 application do let me know your help would be highly appreciated

Hello,

I am using  windows10 mail app and I am not getting my all messages for my 
Hotmail account because of it I missed many important emails I want to know how 
to fix this problem ? another issue I am facing that sometime jaws not reading 
my drafts messages which makes me frustrated. I am not sure if this is 
windows10 mail app issue or what.
I am using jaws18

Hello folks,

I’m using windows10 app for my 2 email addresses, one is for gmail and another 
one is for Hotmail. Gmail account working fine but Hotmail doesn’t download all 
the messages, Hotmail account just download few messages from my account and 
when I login my Hotmail account via browsers I found many messages which are 
important for me, I search over web and doesn’t find any solution for this 
problem. If anyone of you incountering this issue as well and fixed it. do let 
me know the solution and fixations too.

Hello Faraz:

I cannot give you first-hand experience with anything other than  MS 
Outlook, which is what I have used for many years and still use in its 2016 
version, but there are many other options, as I read from time to time on 
the email lists.


Thunderbird, WLM and a modified version of Outlook Express come to mind, but 
wouldn't it be more practical to update Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 instead 
and use the built-in email client?  I never used Windows 8.1, went from 
Windows 7 to Windows 10, but with the exception of MaPlEr, every other 
program worked in Windows 10 and works well.  We all have a natural 
reluctance to change, but are also often pleseantly surprised after taking 
the plunge.  As an example, I hadn't updated Chicken Nugget for quite a 
while, just went to version 4.2 and it is much better, works perfectly well 
with Jaws.

that Windows now offers, much as they had Outlook Express in Windows XP,
that is simple, fast and since the July update to JAWS 17, works very well

Windows x, is a content menu,
you're right there was a control panel down the list.

But, if you type control panel in the search box in the settings, it does

I'm not sure if restore points has automatic enabled in windows10, because 
when I tried to restore my system in previous dates, I would not find 
automatic restore points in my windows10, may be its because I've upgraded 
from windows8.1. anyways, its good if you already have restore points 
enabled.

I went and look on my W10 pc and had a friend look on his and as far as I 
can see to have restore make automatic restore points is on by default. I 
also went and looked at my restore points and I had four of them and one was 
and automatic restore point. So correct me if I am wrong but I believe 
automatic restore in W10 is turned on by default.

to change windows+e key behavior  to my pc instead of quick lonch, follow 
the following steps:


1. press windows+x to bring menue of different options.
2. use down arrow key, and press enter at control panel.
3. navigate to "file explorror option link" press enter.
4. press tab and you will hear "quick access", press down arrow key and 
select "This PC".

5. Press enter.
now, when you press windows+e, it will open this PC, instead of quick 
access.

hello-

I am not sure, but you guys may try carlos win tool as it start in boot-up 
console to install windows. this tool has many more programs to work with 
and all the programs are exicuting out of windows, which means in booting 
session. its automatically start NVDA and you guys have to explore if it 
contains any option to get into bios.

I've tried all day to find a pair of eye balls to help with the bios to
disable the function keys so my jaws could perform as normal.

On other lists, folks have stated to use the fn key in conjuction with the
key to perform the action, for example, fn, plus f7 for list links, fn plus
f7 for spell check in word. However, I have been unsuccessful, as there are
no eye balls and the fn combo does not work.  For the record, I'm following
these steps.

1.Restart or Turn on your ThinkPad Edge

2.Tap the ENTER key repeatedly (NOT RETURN - this doesn't work)

3.tap F1 to go into the BIOS

4.Tap the Right Cursor/Arrow key once to move to [CONFIG]

5.Go down to [KEYBOARD / MOUSE] Hit Enter/Return

6.Go to [Change to "F1-F12 keys"]

7.Tap Enter/Return and choose [Legacy]

8.Hold Down Fn+F10 to save & exit

9.Choose [YES] (tap Enter/Return)

10.That's it! Yay! Y



I regretfully state I no longer have the box, so the model of my lanoval is
only what my coworker read to me.  I'm desperate, so here is my stupid
question, never mind lol, it will involve jaws to do this and jaws is not
available during this process. I was thinking if someone could remote into
my system but never mind haha.

I am facing the same issue, I had upgraded to windows10 and jaws hot key

I have the latest JAWS and have Windows 8.1.



This problem only started a couple of days ago and nothing had been
installed or deleted from the computer. The hot key had been working just
fine.



I had been on a website and I was trying to purchase something and it wasn't
working too well so I turned off JAWS with the insert+F4 and when I went to
use Control+Alt+j it wouldn't work. I did wait for several seconds and
nothing happened. I tried using the hot key again a few times and nothing.



I went to see if the hot key was still there and it's there. I've turned off
the computer and also restarted it but the hot key still doesn't work. If I
try to delete the hot key and re-enter it, for some reason I'm taken off the
JAWS screen and taken to the Desktop and I have to go back to JAWS in the
taskbar and no matter if I try and re-enter the hot key again, it still
takes me to the Desktop.



Does anyone have any suggestions for me please?

Press windows key + D and press j,
Press J again and it will say jaws and the version number.

Shift F10 and arrow up to properties enter.

Tab to the quick key dialog box and press J only.

Tab to apply and then shift tab to ok spacebar.

Now press insert + F4 and close jaws.

Now try your quick key command enter.

hello Jim,

Thanks for sharing about these tutorials and I have gone through with them. 
first of all I would like to thanks as they are really very helpful, many of 
my queries has been addressed while navigating through them, they are very 
detailed and documented. I have another issue which is irritating me allot, 
this issue is related to my jaws17 professional, I am unable to navigate 
word by word reading by using ctrl+right arrow, since ctrl+left arrow is 
working fine as its navigating and reading previous workds I write in email 
or any text document. the problem is that when I tried to use ctrl+right 
arrow it wont navigate through with next words, but this issue is only 
occurs while writing any text in text area such like, email writing, MS 
word, Notepad etc. if you could addressed my this querry as well it would 
highly appreciated.

no, its not working, I had get a tried to use insurt or control keys to 
navigate between words. I have been told that there is some issue with my 
graphic card driver and I am searching for latest driver for my graphic 
card, but still didn’t find it. I believe once it would be properly 
configured or installed this problem will fix. anyways, thanks for your

Yes, use insert key+right or left arrows keys to read the next or prior
word.
Use insert key+5, on the num pad to read the current word.

its not a complex methoud to find CC/BCC fields while drafting email. once, 
you open a new mail please use tab until you hear "show CC and BCC". once 
you navigate it press space bar and you will have CC/BCC available.

[JAWS-Users] adobe PDF reader jaws support

hello group members,

I use to read different document which extentions are in .pdf. I use to open 
all pdf file into adobe reader however sometime the readable document has 
layout things mentioned into 2 sections provided in front of each section. 
when, jaws read this document its read first section and second section 
together, instead of reading section by section. I want to know is there any 
setting in pdf adobe reader which help jaws in navigating line by line so jaws 
cannot jump at section 2 while reading the document or when I am using 
downarrow key ?

[JAWS-Users] chrome IDM integration

hello there,

I am using IDM and wanted to know how to enable its extention with google 
chrome ? I gone across the few articals over internet which says that IDM 
extention provided by google store is fake and not useful, I also red to 
integrate IDM we have to drag and drop file into extention space provided into 
google chrome setting. my question is how we can drag and drop extention file 
with jaws ? since, jaws doesn’t supportdrag and drop feature, if jaws 
supporting it, then I want you guys to guide me how to do it ?

I am using jaws 17 professional edition.

people that will not be accessible for another two years. You are right that
some of the choices in the Google menu are sub menus, but JAWS does not tell

Well it was your post that encouraged me to give Chrome a try and I'm
glad I did.

Yes, JAWS 17 seems to work a whole lot better with it than with
FireFox and Internet Explorer. Much much faster. Haven't experienced
one single crash or bog down of speech output using it either.

I did notice that JAWS doesn't inform you when navigating down the
Chrome menu that a sub menu is attached to some choices. Hopefully a
future release of JAWS 17 will address that. Even the Ad Block
extension for Chrome is much more effective then the one I was using
for FireFox.

For the first time I'm going to take the time to learn every single
JAWS 17 and Google Chrome shortcut key for getting the most out of
this browser. Thanks again for suggesting this to the list.

Chrome is great when you get used to it. I have a tutorial I did on Chrome
if you want it. To set chrome to open on a certain home page, press alt and
the Google menu will come up. Now, up arrow to settings and press enter. A
web page will open up with many settings you can adjust. Arrow down to

up and make sure that the third radio button is checked to open with a
certain page. Now, there will be an edit field right below that to enter

address you would like to have opened every time. I have Google in there,

I am also facing issue with outlook with jaws 17. whenever, I tried to 
navigate backword to word by using ctrl+left arrow key sometime jaws read 
previous words but oftenly, it wont navigate backword. I noticed this issue 
in typing at text boxes etc.


if anyone facing this issue please update me as well.

Hi Dacia,

Have you tried rebooting to see if that helps?  If you reboot & your 
system

comes up running normally, try downloading J17 using the links I provided
earlier, & running that update installation file from your computer.  Some
people have good luck updating with the Jaws updater, & others do not. 
Or,

even with your computer acting weird, if you can download the previously
mentioned installation executable & running it, that might clear up your
troubles.

Hi, I asked this in a previous email, but thought I'd ask it again here. 
The
option to update just came on my computer, so I chose to do so. However, 
it

said that it couldn't update the patch. And I hit OK. Once I did that, my
computer has not let me navigate things. It talks, and will let me hit
letters, but it's not navigating to anything on my computer. Any
suggestions? Should I uninstall it completely and reinstall just the
original Joss 17 cd I got in not do the updates?

now uses the default selection configured in the Startup Wizard. For
instance, if the default setting is Off, performing this command
toggles between Controls and Tables and Off. If the default setting is

• When typing in Contracted Braille using the keyboard on the Focus
display, resolved an issue where text was not being entered into edit
fields if the particular field was completely empty.
• When JAWS is configured to display text in Unified English Braille
(UEB), resolved an issue where the word "in" was being incorrectly
contracted when followed by a punctuation mark or preceded by a
quotation mark.
• Resolved a customer reported issue with UEB translation where the 
"ever"

contraction was being used incorrectly in some instances.
• Resolved an issue where the dollar sign (dot 4 followed by dots
2-3-4) was not being entered as expected when typing in Unified
English Braille Grade 2.
• On the Braille Settings page in the Startup Wizard, the Placement of
Status Cells and Dot Firmness options will now only be available when
a braille display supporting these features is connected.
• Added new braille tables for Dutch.
• Resolved a customer reported issue where JAWS was unexpectedly
speaking the system time after pressing ENTER from the Search Box in
the Windows 7 Start menu.

I am new member at this list, facing problem with my jaws 17, at windows8.1 
login screen. my jaws wont speak at windows login screen. I already checked it 
from jaws startup visit that “run jaws to login screen” option is “checked”.

[JAWS-Users] windows 8.1

hello list members,

I have upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8.1 and get installed jaws 17 on my 
machine. I am new with windows 8.1 interface and would like if someone help me 
in guiding specific settings in jaws 17. I am also encountering issues with 
jaws 17 like, my jaws wont speak at windows logon screen since I have already 
“check” the option “start jaws from login screen
”  and second issue if I need to navigate backword to read any word its only 
says “blank” some time it works as well.

it would be highly appreciated, if anyone help me in this regard.
