Re: [JAWS-Users] I E 11

2018-06-19 Thread Hareth
I prefer the run commands for control panel and internet options, they are:
press windows plus R for the run edit box, as most of you know
type control and press inter for the control panel
type inetcpl.cpl and press inter for the internet options or properties.
Hope it helps some.

Hi Reed,
Give this a try, it always work for me,
When you boot up your computer do nothing other then pressing the
"space bar" it says password edit 99% of the times, when jaws doesn't
see the password edit field.
If that didn't work try hitting "shift plus F8"
those 2 ways work if jaws is running.
If not that means their is a problem with jaws starting on the logon screen.

Re: [JAWS-Users] User Account Control Settings, Setting it to Zero

2018-03-21 Thread Hareth
That's unusual,
Try below commands, Make sure to run the command prompt as administrator.
Disable UAC:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v
EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Re enable UAC:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v
EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

You need to re boot your system for that to take effect.

Hi Mike,
use Page up and down with the slider.
And Use narrator with that "yes and No" buttons prompt, if jaws fails with it.

Re: [JAWS-Users] App store and W10

2018-03-21 Thread Hareth
Press "windows plus R" to open the run box,
type:
shell:appsfolder
Then hit inter.
Now in the opened folder look for "Microsoft Store" and press the
applications key on it.
select "pin to start" from that menu and hit inter.
Or even you can create a shortcut on your desktop from that menu.
That applies to every item in that folder and they are many useful
shortcuts for apps and services.

Re: [JAWS-Users] vlc and dvd/cds

2018-03-21 Thread Hareth
VLC 3.0 added a feature to play media within zip and iso formats
without extracting them.
The whey to fix that is re installing it with custom option and
uncheck the iso and zip file format from the file association menu
options before finishing the installation procedure.
BTW the vlc preferences options does include file association menu,
but I don't think its that accessible.

[JAWS-Users] VLC Volume and all hotkeys reconfiguration fix

2018-03-21 Thread Hareth
Hi David and all,
Couldn't find any useful documentation for VLC hotkeys CLI configuration.
That got me on the old lazy boy track to fetch the VLC's config file it self.
Found it, and it was a fat one, opened it with notepad++, because the
regular notepad would be a wrong choice.
The file Directory:"C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\vlc\vlcrc
"vlcrc" is our file to play with.
Long story short, the hotkeys configuration lines start with the line
number 4000 on that file
the volume hotkey configuration started with line number 4206
I've changed my volume hotkeys into ctrl+shift+UP and Down.
Worked like a big scotch shot.
Now I can say VLC is indeed worth the effort.
Enjoy tweaking it.

I didn't use VLC with a terminal commands since I last used linux box
some years ago.
I have to take a look to the current documentation if a set of
commands to deal with windows command line, that talks about the
hotkeys.
because they add and remove things from their documentation through
the years as far as I can tell.

Oh, Sure it could be done that way,
Was talking on a basic UI for everyone.
Command line is not that popular you know,
That's why I prefer not talking about it myself, if it is not a must use case.
Although a batch script to do the whole task for more convenient set
of hotkeys, could be a good idea.
Even if it requires more digging. I believe its worth it.

Mike, My man,
that list is for general usage, and the VLC wiki provides more
complete and up to date lists.
and the important key for volume change doesn't work that's only with
jaws users unfortunately.

2018-03-20 Thread Hareth
Hi Mike,
VLC 3.0actually working much better than the previous one.
If the mp3 or any file association fail to work after installation, do this.
select a file to play, press the applications key,
Arrow down to "open with,
>From that menu If you on windows7 I cannot remember the exact term,
but its easy to tell its something like.
"choose another app" or "choose another default app" or similar.
from the next window you'd choose VLC, but make sure to check the
check mark, that allows that app to always open that file type, then
press the OK button.
forgive my lame English.
I could post the latest hotkeys list for VLC very soon if people needed it.

Hi David,
When I've checked it a while ago it had a 40 minutes limit on group calls.
only 1 on 1 calls are truly free.
that's for the free subscription.
Not good enough for me.

If you have jaws output going through the system default sound card so
yes. hints keyboard volume keys work with the system default sound
cards only.

if not so no, you need to change its volume using eater jaws voice
settings, or best the sound card own volume settings.
take care.

If you did that in the start menu search box you'd get nothing as you said.
You need to open the run box with windows key plus R. then type %appdata%
that would open the roaming folder for you.

In the run box type:

scientific then jaws then settings , and look for what you need.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Administrative rights on External Hard Drive

2017-12-08 Thread Hareth
you need to type
cmd
in the run box and hit inter
the coming command line box interface has a problim with jaws2018 if
you on windows10, its going to say "text area" nothing else
but it still works , if you have NVDA it works fine with it. if not
still do as above with my instructions,
press insert plus B, to hear the feed back, its going to be really chatty.
If you find it hard to do, try to find someone to help you that know
how to do it via tandem. just give him the command I've posted.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Administrative rights on External Hard Drive

2017-12-08 Thread Hareth
Ok, do as below:
copy the next line to notepad:

chkdsk /f X:
replace the "X" in the line, with the external drive letter,
do not delete the colon mark at end of line, make sure no spaces after
the colon mark.
select and copy the line again
open the CMD command again from the run box,
with the CMD terminal interface press alt+spacebar,
and arrow up to "edit submenu"
open it and find the "paste" and hit inter,
hit inter again.
it should work this time, as long as you've put in the right drive letter.

Its the microsoft Check Disk from the Command Line to Find and Fix Errors
more info:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637756.aspx
make sure your drive to be fixed is not in use.
BTW its not rude to ask any tech related question.

2017-12-07 Thread Hareth
Try this fix:
press windows+R, and type cmd, then hit inter
type the following command, replace the letter "X" with your actual
external drive letter:

chkdsk /f X:

hit the inter key, and wait untell the process ends and close the window

hope it works for you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Shortcut to favorites

2017-12-07 Thread Hareth
Hi Fred,
ctrl+I, also opens the favorites list for you with IE and windows10
edge browser.
to put a shortcut for favorites folder on your desktop do the following:
press ctrl+R to open the run box and type period, I meant the
punctuation mark, and hit inter.
find the favorites folder and press the applications key on it,
arrow down or up to find "send to sub menu" press the right arrow or
inter on it,
find "desktop create shortcut" and hit inter,
that's it, you've got the shortcut on your desktop.
Take care

try to hit "shift+F8" with the login screen, or just hit the space bar.
the ctrl+alt+j, as a jaws hotkey it doesn't work sometimes here, I've
changed it into "ctrl+alt+f6", it works much better here. so try to
put some other hotkey for jaws that works for you.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Problem with shortcut key for Jaws

2017-11-08 Thread Hareth
Hi Greg,
That happens with me on windows7 and windows10 as well.
What I do if the hotkey doesn't work is hitting windows key plus R,
Then I type "jaws2018" and hit inter, and jaws would start.
That applies with older versions of jaws like type jaws18 or jaws17,
just make sure no spaces between jaws and the version number.
hope it helps.

[JAWS-Users] J-2018 announcing "text area" instead of reading the command prompt edit box and feedback

2017-10-30 Thread Hareth
Greetings,
Jaws 2018 beta and final, saying "text area" both with command prompt
and power shell interface,
that's with windows10 creators fall edition.
I have to press insert plus B to check the results,
and that reads much more than what I need to hear.
Typing and editing also not spoken.
Any thing I need to know to fix that? Is there something I'm missing?
Or its a known bug.
Help would be much appreciated. I'm using command line a lot, there
for its a problem to deal with the current way jaws 2018 reading it.

Ninite didn't support for installing Flash player seperal months ago. Try

 go

called alternative flash player auto updater to your computer. This helps

Hi Jenny,
here is a download link for the flash player the latest virsion,
but u nead 1st to make sure that u don't have an older virsion already
installed on your system,
u can check that by control panel / program and features,
if u find it uninstall it and install the new one from the the link :
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe
it should work after installing the new one..

needs to be installed if not present, or updated if it is there already.

 Good luck! JH

Hi Mike,
you can do it with the volume mixer located on the system tray by
pressing enter on the speakers icon, just tab after opening it you
will find each program,
opened on your system,
has it's own volume slider and mute / unmute button,
and also you can make a shortcut on the descktop, for the volume mixer
control with a few steps, and asign a hotkey for it to make it easy to
use.

Re: [JAWS-Users] sound forge and jaws v13

2012-07-18 Thread hareth iraq
Hi all,
well, Jaws says it correctly,
24bit or 32bit is the audio input / output rate value,
the 32kbps / 64kbps extra its the audio file incoding rate,
like 320kbps.mp3 or 128kbps.mp3,

these are 2 sepret things, and most of the sound cards that came's
with the computer ar eather 16bit or 24bit in general,
we can check that in windows7 in the properteies of the playback or
recording devices if we navigate to the advanced tab in the
properties of each of them.
and eaven if the software says it records audio on 32bit rate wich is
verry high rate the fact its will never cross the hardware
capabilities at any point,
cause it neads a sound card that match or more than that value..
take care...

Hi
Unfortunately it's not available in any of the vista home versions.
Only Business,
Enterprise Ultimate.
If you need faxing capabilities, you would have to find 3rd party fax software
take care...
