[JAWS-Users] documents and pics gone from normal view?

Okay, for some strange reason, my documents are only available in windows

of the PC right next to the start menu. How do I get them to return there?
Thanks.

New Features Added in JAWS Public Beta 2, Build 15.0.3103
Improved Windows 8 Start Screen Navigation Using the Touch Cursor
Previously, navigating Tiles on the new Windows 8 Start Screen was difficult
to understand. Like a traditional desktop, the columns did not wrap, and
because tiles can be different sizes, it was very difficult to orient
yourself when moving with the PC focus. We now suggest you consider using
the Touch Cursor mode to offer a more seamless and predictable way of
learning the tiles and where they are located.
To begin, move focus to the Windows 8 Start Screen by pressing the WINDOWS
key until you hear Start Screen. Now you can activate the Touch Cursor by
pressing SHIFT+NUM PAD PLUS on a Desktop keyboard or SHIFT+CAPS
LOCK+SEMICOLON on a Laptop keyboard. With the Touch Cursor on, you can use
the single-finger flick up and down gestures to move between the groups, or
use UP and DOWN ARROWS to simulate the gestures, even if you do not have a
touch screen. Note that groups are generally not named by default, so JAWS
will refer to the Group name based on whatever the first tile is in the
group that gains focus. At any point, you can use either a single-finger
flick right or left on a Touch Screen or use the RIGHT and LEFT ARROWS to
explore all tiles from your current location. If you locate a Tile for an
application you wish to launch, simply double tap the touch screen with a
single finger, or just press ENTER to launch the tile you are on.
New Setting for Controlling How Web Page Links are Activated
On certain Web pages, pressing ENTER on some elements such as links does not
always activate the element as expected. The new Link Activation option
affects how links are activated when you press the ENTER key in a virtual
document. It is located under the Virtual Cursor Options and Personalized
Web Settings groups in Quick Settings, as well as under the Miscellaneous
group of the Web/HTML/PDF group in Settings Center.
When this option is set to Enter simulates mouse click, pressing the ENTER
key on a link actually simulates a left mouse click on the link. This is how
JAWS behaved prior to version 15, and it is still the default behavior.
When this option is set to Enter sends Enter key, pressing the ENTER key
on a link instead causes the ENTER key to be passed on to the system. You
may want to choose this setting if pressing ENTER does not activate a Web
element unless you first press INSERT+3 to enable the Pass Key Through
 feature.
Enhancements in JAWS 15.0.3103 (October 2013)

The following is a list of improvements made between this release and the
 initial public beta release.

 JAWS

  * Resolved numerous issues submitted by customers using the new Error
 Reporting feature.
  * To activate the PC Cursor while the Touch Cursor is currently active,
you must now press the PC Cursor command (NUM PAD PLUS, or
CAPSLOCK+SEMICOLON) twice quickly. If you press this command once, JAWS

All,

We have just released JAWS 14.0.6005 update.
Enhancements in JAWS 14.0.6005 (August 2013) This update resolves issues
identified by a small number of customers using the Auto Update feature in
the previous Update. It also resolves issues with MAGic 12 mouse speech and
reading Web pages in Internet Explorer or Firefox on Windows 7 after
installing both JAWS and MAGic and running MAGic by itself.

Even if you installed the build 6004 successfully over the past 4 days, we
request that you install this new update to build 6005 today over top to
avoid any future issues with the auto update process in the future.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Outlook 2007 And Multiple Accounts

Hi friends,

does anyone have any instructions on how to use Microsoft Outlook 2007 with
multiple email accounts please?

Basically I have two email accounts set up, a BT account and a GMail
account.

At the moment, messages from both accounts come in to my inbox and I would
like to separate them out if possible in some way.

Also, when I send a new message, it seems to go from the default account
which is the BT one, do I have to use some sort of send as command if I want
to send the message from the second GMail account which is not the default
account?

Many thanks in anticipation for any help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] adding contacts within outlook 2007

2013-08-12 Thread Kliphton
There are a couple different ways you can do this. You can add them as they
email you, by shift tabbing to the from field, hitting control a, and then hit
the applications key, arrow down to add to address book, hit enter, then alt s
and they are saved. Or you could open the address book from within outlook by
hitting control 3, hit control n for new contact, and manually add them.. You
can also import an old address book from outlook express, or download a cvs
file from the net from gmail or hotmail and import them. Let me know what way
works best, and I will dig out the instructions. HTH!

Re: [JAWS-Users] The following is a list of items addressed oraddedbetween the JAWS 14.0.4004 release and the JAWS14.0.5005 posting.

2013-08-09 Thread Kliphton
They may have addressed some issues in outlook, but not all of them. Jaws
doesn't read the text when you are creating or editing a signiture. Jaws
doesn't read the address when you are emailing the same person, so I guess it
doesn't read the populated list of emails. When going through your folders,
jaws doesn't tell you how many unread messages there are. And this is just to
name a few.

Is anyone experiencing the bugs we're referring to?

*Unable to read the information in the various edit fields with the

*Unable to read status lines in any message or the main window, most
troublesome is the lack of a status bar in the message find dialog box.
*When ever something happens in the background and if composing an e-mail in
html, Jaws loses focus, and returns to the window in navigation mode, not
edit mode, forcing me to alt+tab away from the window, then back again.
*Jaws inability to decipher the various e-mail addresses, assuming that one
has multiple addresses with multiple names (This one I think is a Windows
Live mail problem, but I'd like to know if it might be a Jaws problem.
*Jaws inability to use first letter navigation in the folders tree list
*Difficulty in navigating the accounts dialog box, particularly in the
accounts pane where one must use first letter navigation to move to the
account you wish to work with.

Now, This is not a comprehensive list, and are only some of the major

Hit enter on that and open network and sharing center.

Re: [JAWS-Users] MS office 2010 or 2013

2013-06-19 Thread Kliphton
I have used both. At this time, if I were you, I would just upgrade to
2010. 2013 has some bugs that they haven't worked out yet. Not being able
to edit signatures, the email list doesn't remember people you have emailed
in the past, so you have to write out the email address every time, or go
find it in your address book, and while going through your folders, jaws
doesn't give you the unread message count. There are some other things, but
those are the ones I have noticed so far. Also, your documents are saved in
your sky drive now, unless you pick a different default location. If I
hadn't got my for free, I would have stuck with 2010.

The biggest problem I have with IE 9 and 10, is the way you download files, and

 Hi Everyone,

Recently, I posted to the list about problems that I was having with IE10
instability. As it turns out, the problem was not IE10. It was my router.
Unknown to me at the time, my wife, who was using IE9 on a different machine
on the same network, had begun to have the same problems with instability
that I was having. When I found out about her problems, I decided to
replace the router just to see if that would fix the problem. It did. I
replaced the router two days ago and have had no problems at all sense then.
I just wanted to let everyone know because I wouldn't want someone who had

I was the one who said he was using jaws 14 and office 2013. When I first
started using it, it was very clunky, somethings just wouldn't load, and
sometimes you had to reboot for better results. Now that jaws 14 has an
update, most things work. The main thing that doesn't work is when you go
to type a signature, it doesn't read you the text, but it is there. When
you try to switch between accounts it won't tell you witch account is
highlighted. Spell check does the same thing, it will tell you there is a
miss spelled word, but not read you the suggestions. Your suppose to be
able to sign in to your sky drive account, and have your word documents
saved there, but mine always tells me to look because there were arrows
discovered. That's all I have found so far. FS knows, so we will see if
they address it in the next update. As for activating office, now you go
through an automated system, that walks you through and asks questions about
how many pc's you have activated there product on, say 1, and it will give
you a knew one. I have a copy of 2010 if any one wants to buy it. It is
office home and business edition. Contact me off list for more info

 Hello,

I contacted FS and asked if Office 2013 works with JAWS 14. Their
E-mail response said that Office 2013 is known to work with the latest
build of JAWS 14 but it is a work in progress. Just how much of a
work in progress is it? Does anyone on the list have experience with
it? I use Office a lot and I don't need something that is only half
usable. It doesn't look like you can get previous versions of Office
from the Microsoft online store. My copy of Office 2003 has finely
run out of activations. I wonder if I need to see if I can find a
copy of Office 2010 at Best Buy or a office supply store.

I see. Just wandered since it really is meant for Win 8 I thought you had
tried it on there. Though there really shouldn't be too much difference
should there? Usually there isn't but you never know. I guess it would
matter with the touch screen stuff.

Hi, I was wondering, I had asked a question a few days ago about a jaws
problem, and it was pretty much ignored, but some one writes in about a
question about a simple smily faice issue and it generates a hole days of
 replies? I don't get it?

I have been dealing with this issue for three days now, and I have gotten no
help, so I just wonder? My question was, why all of a sudden is Jaws reading
part of an email, when there is no email open, I am sitting on the list, in
my inbox, and when I arrow down, I don't hear the name of the sender, nor
any part of the subject line, and the date, time, and size of the email? And
the fact that some times when in list view, jaws does not read at all I
have to arrow down once, and back up to hear the sender's name, and that is
how I here the senders name, and stuff, after I here part of the email.

 Thanks susie

will be prompted to get when you restart JAWS, as soon as the release is live

Enhancements in JAWS 14.0.1534 (February 2013)
The following is a list of items addressed or added between the final JAWS
14.0.1037 release and the JAWS 14.0.1534 posting.
 JAWS

  * Several issues with selecting text using JAWS have been addressed.
  * Addressed an issue where JAWS was not reading the correct information
when selecting various buttons that open drop down menus on the Facebook Web
site. For example, the edit or remove buttons.
  * Resolved an issue with the Braille Study Mode on-the-fly command
WHIZWHEEL+NAVROW BUTTON not announcing and spelling the word as expected.
This only occured with Focus braille displays that contain WHIZWHEELS.
  * Removed an unnecessary entry regarding braille panning from the list of
controls in the Define Structured Mode dialog box in Settings Center.
  * Resolved a customer reported issue with JAWS not properly getting focus
in WPF applications when exiting a JAWS dialog box such as the Links List.
  * Resolved a customer reported issue using the SecureCRT application in
Windows 8 where pressing INSERT+ALT+W to virtualize the window was not
opening the virtual viewer as expected.
  * The default dot firmness for Freedom Scientific braille displays has
been changed to 100 percent, which is the highest setting.
  * Resolved an issue where pressing WINDOWS Key+PAUSE to open the System
Properties dialog box was not working over a JAWS Tandem connection.
  * When running JAWS and MAGic together, resolved an issue where using
Navigation Quick Key P to move by paragraph was moving by two paragraphs
 instead of one.
  * Addressed a customer reported issue where JAWS would unexpectedly close
when pressing ALT+TAB to move between Windows Explorer and a Command Prompt
 window.
  * When using JAWS over a Remote Desktop connection, resolved a reported
issue where the ALT key would sometimes become stuck under certain
 circumstances.
  * Addressed a reported issue with JAWS not reading tree views correctly in
 Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
  * When using a Focus braille display with JAWS over a remote Terminal
Services connection, addressed issues with entering text in computer braille
or contracted braille from the Perkins-style keyboard on the Focus display.
 Braille navigation worked as expected.
  * Addressed an issue reading various symbols using the Danish Vocalizer
 Direct voice.
  * Added two new built-in script functions, CallFunctionByName and
PerformScriptByName, which take the name of the function or script to be run
 as the first parameter.
  * Resolved an issue with the CollectionCopy script function not copying
 arrays properly.
  * As requested by a customer, the BrailleString script function now works
even when flash messages are turned off. In addition, the flash message
prefix is no longer displayed as part of the text that is passed to the
 function to be displayed.
 Adobe Acrobat

  * Addressed an issue using the P and SHIFT+P Navigation Quick Keys to
 navigate PDF forms.
  * Addressed an intermittent issue with JAWS unexpectedly closing when
 opening certain PDF files.
 Microsoft Access

controls as expected in the Backstage view.
 Microsoft Excel

  * Resolved an issue in Excel 2010 where certain controls in the Insert
Hyperlink dialog box were not being spoken correctly when using TAB.
  * When navigating in a comment, resolved an issue where the author's name
was not spoken or displayed in braille.
  * If you attempt to override the automatically defined title for a
workbook that has defined titles using Quick Settings, the column/row options
are now changing to undefined as expected.
  * Resolved an issue where pressing INSERT+F7 from the suggestions list in
the Spell Checker, was not displaying the spelling error in braille.
  * Resolved an issue where pressing INSERT+F7 from the Spellchecker was not
announcing the misspelled word unless focus was on the Suggestions list.

Re: [JAWS-Users] setting up a google voice number with jaws

2012-10-13 Thread Kliphton
You either need sited help, or use the jaws cursor for 95 percent of your
selections. Just make sure it is lined up, and use the left mouse click. This
is the way I had to do it all 3 times I got a number. Oh, and if doing it this
way, you will need a lot of patients also.

problem, of course that means when I get one of those complex e-mails I must
 turn it back on.

I assume this has something to do with the buffering and I do hope the
problem is eventually solved so I don't have to change back and forth all
the time. I have one list that put out over 400 messages in one day, having
messages all mixed up was not an option, I reverted to Jaws 13 but the next
day I turned off the virtual cursor in Outlook and was able to move quickly
through messages again each reading completely and not getting mixed in with
 the next one.

Problem partially solved. There should be a quick key to do this switch,
 maybe shift/control v?

[JAWS-Users] settings won't save

Can you get what you seek by typing Network? It sounds like you have added

may have to type more or be more specific about what you seek.

Hi,
you could try the following:
1. In the start menu search box, type in network.
2. If you press up arrow, can you find the programs header. If so there
should be a number in parenthesis after the word header. This is the total
number of programs that have matched your search - only some are displayed
in the start menu. What is the number.
3. With the programs header selected, press enter. Windows explorer opens
showing all the search results in the programs group. Can you find network
in these results?

Clifton,

You really ought to explain your reasoning.
Since just about 99% of torrents are for the purpose of sharing copyrighted
material, please explain how downloading is legal while selling is not. Do
this in terms of international copyright law and the DMCA.

Maybe if you read those laws before you explain, you won't be some full of
bulls**t.

same, but my changes are not being reflected once I'm out of the settings
center. Is there a different way of saving that I know about? I've pushed
the apply button each time I've left, even did control s witch was the save
command in the old configuration manager. What am I doing wrong?

Re: [JAWS-Users] replying directly to sender?

2011-03-10 Thread Kliphton Senior
Not in previous version, you just hit jaws key r and shift and it was done,
didn't have to make sure of anything. What would be the point of the
command if you have to make sure the address was highlighted, that would
defeat the purpose of the command.

To reply to sender it's insert shift and the letter R, remember one must
have the sender's email open at the time of reply.

JAWS+Shift+r is still listed as the shortcut for replying directly to

We're talking about JAWS+Shift+r which in fact is reply directly to sender.
Not the same as ctrl+r which is reply and ctrl+shift+r which is reply to
