Re: [JAWS-Users] read alternate text using Jaws
Hi There Not sure whether you've received a reply to this; Jaws treats the picture as an object. Press Control Shift O to bring up the list of objects then find your picture in the list and press Enter. This selects the object. If Jaws still doesn't read the alt text, at least having the object selected will give you more options for dealing with it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dang Manh Cuong Sent: Wednesday, 16 May 2018 4:22 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] read alternate text using Jaws To all listers When using Jaws to read word document that included picture with alternate text, can blind people read the alternate text without turning navigation quick keys on? Re: [JAWS-Users] BrailleSense U2 QWERTY
Hi tom I've done a number of these and, if you let the hims driver install where it wants to, Jaws should find it. When installing the hims driver, there are two or three separate pieces of software within the driver package. Each one has a Finish Button and it's a bit confusing because when you press Finish the process starts again. It's very easy to assume you've made a booboo and people often press Cancel or close the installer too soon. just let the thing go round a few times till it goes away. The other thing to remember is to not connect the U2 till the Hims driver is finished installing. Shout if you need further assistance. Re: [JAWS-Users] FW: Question on an IE website
Hi Mr. Ed and List As a non-visual user I can't comment on the left side right side thing, but certainly got the stories to read with Jaws, running Win 10 and Jaws 17. The first link I clicked opened up a whole new page with the story on it. Other links seemed to act more like Tab Panels, where pressing Enter opens up a Tab within the page and shows the story. These were still labeled as links though. It seems to be a very busy page and is making my machine work quite hard while I'm on it, so Jaws might behave badly on a busy page like that. I think the content is findable with Jaws but you may need to use a combination of techniques in order to find it. Maybe some of these: the N key to find pieces of text which don't contain links The Virtual Find, Control F, you could search for words from the link or, just good ol' down arrow lots of times.
