Well, to my surprise what I found out was absolutely fantastic! A friend needed to be updated because he was at Jaws 11 & he needed to be upgraded to be compatible with the Windows 7 system he is moving to from XP. Okay to cut this short, I found out people can be upgraded from Jaws 11 to Jaws2018 for $200.00. The lady I talked to was a Window Eyes transplanted employee & she didn't know how long this financial plan had been in place. So for all you that need to be upgraded but have financial difficulty, don't be afraid to call & inquire about new financial / payment plans! This $200.00 plan is only for the Home versions. So, this is fixed and you can just tab to check for updates, and JAWS reads all of that info to you like in JAWS 16. Also, JAWS works better in the start area of Windows 10. As I understand it, using the download links (the same as downloading from the FS site) downloads a complete, updated version of JAWS (why it takes longer than the patch), while the update you get when you respond to the "update is available" FS notice, is an update patch atop your existing JAWS. If my understanding is indeed true, then doing the entire download using the links or the FS site is preferable to having a potential problem if your patch does not graft properly. I used the patch updates for years and they apparently worked fine, but now I use the links or the FS site to download a fresh system (keeping my setting intact). The Defragmentation service is true, as Windows 10 keeps your hard drive defragged constantly so as to maximize the storage space and it's information retrieval. In terms of the Disk clean up, I don't believe this has been automated in Windows 10, but as of Windows 8.1, disk clean up is still a manual task, though, I suppose that you can automate it by setting it as a scheduled task once a week, or so, but again, you can always set Internet Explorer to empty temporary internet files automatically once you finish browsing. That has always been in the Internet Explorer settings, but in terms of emptying out your recycle bin, or cleaning up dump files and/or log files, those you must do manually, since the computer can never know which ones you want to delete and which ones you don't. Like I said above though, I may be incorrect in this statement, to please take it with a grain of salt, as I am not officially using Windows 10 yet, as it has not been reported ready for my computer. The other profiles I mentioned will also be found in JAWS options/voices/voice adjustment if you have any of their voices installed. Windows comes with a couple of SAPI 5 voices, so that profile should also be available. Also there are several companies that cell SAPI 5 voices. I will suggest you run both though as any modern computer such as a Win8 can handle this configuration. You will also be much more protected if you run both simultaneously. MSE (now defender in Win8) is not very good at scanning one's registry. On the other hand, Malwarebytes Pro is very, very good at scanning one's registry, and it is a very fast malware scanner. No real-time blocking/scanning is similar to not having any malware protection of this type at all. This means that when you visit a website with code running in the background that can infect your computer with a virus, you will not know that you've been infected until you run a malware scan which can be days or weeks after the infection. Since you might already be infected, the removal of malware might be impossible depending on the aggressiveness of the malware. In short, no real-time scanning is a very bad idea. George's Malwarebytes Pro is running in real-time and is a very effective and very accessible malware utility. My router works perfectly so far as my home network and accessing the internet, but since it has been a while I figured on taking a look at its firmware version and then go online to find out if I had the most recent update. It turns out after a few hours and some very bad language my wife and I learned that we have the most recent version of its firmware but we can't access the administration control panel from any system using IE 10. Fortunately her system is still using XP pro and we were able to figure out that the router is fine, just not accessible with IE 10. This to me is stressful news and I thought somebody out there might benefit from the fact we pretty much missed out on any of our entertainment programs last night once we got in to this router problem. I pity the poor person who has gone out and bought a new router thinking there was something wrong with the unit currently on their desk. The kicker is for my needs IE 10 is no different than IE 9 but my router disagrees. The thing that really gets me about computers so often is that you can do it right and it still won't work. Guess it's too late to pick another field of interest but some days I do consider that very thing. Several strategies for dealing with passwords are: Use the same password everywhere but add the name of the site to the end of the password. Use a password vault. That way you only have to remember one password, then you can grab the password out of the vault, and you don't have to remember each individual password, or username for that fact. And, you can make the passwords extremely complex since you don't have to remember them. You could do the whole spreadsheet thing. Also, one thing I did years ago, when I got frustrated because any username I came up with was never accepted on every web site, there are only so many combinations of Dan rossi DRossi DRossiBirthDay blah blah blah. I just recreated all my accounts with a nonsense word that no one else would ever use. Now I have the same username on every account. Which is helpful. Also, you can use grade two braille as a great way to come up with some very funky passwords. Lots of numbers and punctuation marks and no dictionary words. -- Blue skies. Hi Dan . Keep Me Signed In" Checkbox a.. Troubleshooting Problems Signing In a.. Signing Out When We Ask You To Sign In We ask you to sign into your Amazon.com account any time we need to verify your identity. This includes times when you access account or order information to review or change something. "Keep Me Signed In" Checkbox When you sign in on Amazon.com, you may be presented with the option to "Keep me signed in." If you choose this option, Amazon will keep you signed in for common activities such as making purchases and viewing your orders. This option will only apply to the browser that you are using when you select the box. You should only choose to stay signed in if you're using a computer that you don't share with other people. If you share the computer with others, they may be able to access your Amazon.com account and perform actions on your behalf without knowing your password. Never choose this feature if you are on a public terminal, such as at a library or an internet café. Even if you choose to remain signed in, you'll still be prompted for your password at least every two weeks. We may still ask you to enter your password for certain activities such as modifying your account. Stop Staying Signed In If you no longer wish to stay signed in on a particular browser, simply sign out of Amazon.com on that browser. If you don't have physical access to that browser, you can cancel all saved sign- ins by resetting your Amazon.com password. Hi If you do an alt tab several times. You should land on a window that says JAWS. Then use the red line command. This should tell you the current version of JAWS you have running. I hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] Popup menus and IE
Hi Currently, I am having a problem and hope someone else may have solved the trouble. I am using JAWS 13 and IE 8. When I log in to: http://www.optionsxpress.com They use popup menus when one wants to go to the money transfer section. In IE 8 I am able to access this section using JAWS cursor. However, I want to upgrade to IE 9. In IE 9 this pop up menu is invisible even though I turned off the pop up blocker. What can I do to access this menu in IE 9? Thank you. If the "Show as conversation" checkbox is checked then you will get a grouping result in your message list. The Layout group has three buttons that primarily control the type and amount of information to be displayed. The information I am showing below applies when the virtual ribbon menu is not being used. There still are messages that JAWS will not read well when opened but you can open those messages in your browser and read them correctly. To do so, open the message from the message list and then use Alt followed by H followed by A followed by V. Your browser should load with the message displayed. Here is some information I sent a person a month or two ago that might give you some tips about working with your message list in Outlook 2010. Feel free to write me off list if I can answer any questions or help you further. You can control layouts by using the buttons for the Navigation Pane, reading pane and the To Do bar in the layout group under the view tab. Use Alt followed by V to move to the view tab or Alt and then right arrow to it. Tab into the lower part of the ribbon and keep tabbing until you find the button for the navigation pane, which is in the layout group. Use tab once more and you will find the button for the reading pane. Tab again and you will find the button for the To Do bar. Pressing spacebar on each of those buttons will present you with a list of choices. Use up or down arrow key in the list and press enter key on the appropriate choice. There is also an options choice for more specific selections. If you do not want the calendar events or tasks showing then change the status of the To Do bar from normal to off. Use the To Do button in the layout group of the view tab of the ribbon. If you choose to minimize the To Do list in the choices given after choosing that button then the other checked items will not be shown in the window. However, you will be able to temporarily show the items by using tab or shift+tab from the message lis to the To Do button minimized choice and pressing enter key. If you use the To Do button in the layout group of the view tab then you will get checkboxes for the items to show. They will include tasks, date navigator, calendar, number of months to show, etc. If you don't want those items showing on the screen then apply the "off" status by pressing enter key on that choice after using the spacebar on the To Do Bar button in the layout group. The second of the two buttons of the layout group in tab order is the reading pane button. After tabbing to it, press enter or spacebar to activate the button and get the list of choices. If you choose the off position then you will need to open the message by pressing enter key on it in the list of messages to read it. If it is on then you can tab from the list of messages to the reading pane or use f6. In Outlook 2010, you can read the message from this pane without opening the message. Doing so does not present the same risks as it did in earlier versions of Outlook as there is much better security built in to the use of the reading pane. You can choose to put the reading pane at the bottom, on the right, on the left or turn it off by using the button for it in the layout group of the view tab and making the appropriate choice. The list of choices found after pressing spacebar on the reading pane button has an options choice that will bring up a dialog box for some reading pane options. They will only be in effect if the reading pane is not turned off. You can choose to have items marked as read when viewed in the reading pane, marked as read when selection changes, or you can choose to have items marked as read with a single key reading using spacebar. The default is the latter choice. If the reading pane is open, someone can just repeatedly press spacebar to scroll through the message showing in the reading pane and not have to use arrow keys or the mouse. When one message is done the next one starts. You can find two buttons by pressing F6 repeatedly. They are the Normal and Reading buttons. Use right and left arrow keys to move between them and enter key to make one of them active. Even if the reading pane is off, if you use the reading button t

Re: [JAWS-Users] Shopping Amazon with Jaws
Hi Actually, I have used the amazon website without incident a number of times. I haven't used the research it option on JAWS to shop there. However, I am thinking if it worked properly it might allow one to skip past some links that just repeat themselves from one page to the next. That might be more efficient but not necessary to enjoy the site. God bless, Mark God Loves you! [JAWS-Users] JAWS 13 Is Great!
Hi I have been trying the JAWS 13 beta version and it is great! It cleared up the clumsy feeling I had in MS Office 2010 using JAWS 12. It has that nifty OCR feature that I have yet to put in to action in a useful place, but I am on the look out for a chance to try it out. I think it would be nice if in the release version if they would turn on the auto read in MS out look 2010 but other than that I am very pleased with what I am seeing. God bless, Mark God Loves you! Auto maximize looks to see if there is a symbol that says maximize in the corner as I mentioned. If it finds such a symbol it performs a left mouse click which maximizes the window. The thing is it does that so quickly it is almost transparent to the user. Some times I can catch it working but normally it just does it so fast it's not even an issue.
