I bank with boa and have had no troubles with the site, I think that your
having a trouble with your... I.E.9, and not a general trouble with the
program, I use it for nearly everything except for CAPTIA's, and if I wanted
to pay 18 cents a captcha I could use it on those as well.

but I do recognize the usefulness of ff for testing things and for those
pesky are you a real person sign in images.

ok, just uploaded it to my site, go to/enter on this URL and you will get a
very limited page called fetch
http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com/fetch.html

there will be one link on it, and that will download ff 16 for you

I would very much like the link to the Firefox 16.
As to the statement made that there is not much difference between
accessibility with IE 9 and FF I have found many. Just the other day I tried

to sign up for the free samples on doctoroz.com and there was no space to
fill in any info with IE 9 but when I copied the link and opened it in FF
the form fields were there and I was able to sign up. Expressscripts.com is

another that I could not sign in on IE 9. Also the FIOS website, the
Lookout.com and I think certain pages of the Bank of America site. Those
are just the ones I remember having problems with recently using IE 9 that
were accessible with FF..
Mostly I don't compare page by page unless I know ahead of time that there
is something that is supposed to be there and isn't on IE 9.
I would think that Jaws should put more effort into making IE more
accessible or at least fix this freezing problem with Firefox.
As for using version 3.5 of Firefox. it seems to me that that would really
be a security risk rather like using IE 6 or 7.
I really would like to switch to Firefox for my default. Maybe the version
16 would work with Jaws 14.
Thanks,
Sherrie

First of all, no need to reboot your computer when firefox crashes. Hit
ctrl-alt-escape, find the firefox in applications, hit the
applications/context key on it and choose end task.

Second of all, having used both firefox and ie9, I'd say that ie9 gives
more information on webpages where there is any difference at all. I
have yet to find one that is more accessible with firefox. If you are
having a lot of crashes with firefox as your default browser, caused by
clicking on links, you might want to change to ie as the default. You
can download ff17.x off of mozilla's ftp site, you have to dig for it
though. If it weren't for a couple of plugins that allow me to block
ads and control what javascript I wish to allow, along with how it deals
with rss, I'd use internet explorer instead of firefox. I've used
firefox for many years, so I don't say that lightly. I have yet to try
the release version of ff19, but the beta crashed just like ff18 did.

You do not need to uninstall Firefox 19to roll back to Firefox 17 or any
other earlier version of Firefox you want to try. You can simply install
the portable version of Firefox 17 or earlier. The regular and portable
versions of Firefox can co-exist on your computer without conflicting with
each other, and in fact, can even run at the same time , much as IE and
Firefox can run at the same time. On my system, I have the regular version
of Firefox 3.6, the last stable version before the onslaught of rapid new
releases, along with the portable version of Firefox 17. This way, I can
switch from FF 17 to FF 3.6 or vice versa if I encounter problems with the
version I am using. So if I encounter a problem navigating a particular web
site with FF 17, I can simply try navigating it with FF 3.6. You can
download earlier versions of Firefox portable from the following site:

to close the window. I have to do a forced restart of the whole computer.
I can’t even open a new tab of Firefox to finish what I was doing. Today
it happened when I clicked on a youtube link. When I alt tab away from
the frozen Firefox window and then back it only reads the title of the
page.

I have Win 7 home premium 64 bit, Jaws 14 and Firefox 19.0.
I have been slow to convert to Firefox but now I really want to use it
out of necessity and it constantly freezes. I don’t know what is showing
on the screen but in the window list is says minimized. Tried the alt
space and x to maximize the window but no response. Jaws cursor does
nothing either.

I would really appreciate some advice from the group.
IE 9 seems to do less and less for me and now comparing the same windows
on IE and on Firefox it is really incredible that Firefox makes the
websites so much more accessible. So I need Firefox!!

Help, please.

I guess this sounds like I just have to put up with the IE 9 as a
default since most of the freezes occur when clicking links in email.
One I especially remember is a Kim Komando page that led to another page
and then the youtube link yesterday. There were others I remember from
Lookout Mobile Security. Can't remember them all.
The most aggravating part is to have to restart the computer to shut
down Firefox. The computer doesn't freeze, just Firefox.
I could still use more advice if anyone has any ideas. I know there are
many avid Firefox users on this list.
I presume that to roll back to Firefox 17 I would have to remove FF 19.
But where would I get 17. And is 17 the best version for Jaws users? In
old emails I had read about really low versions but it seems like they
would have many security holes as newer versions of browsers generally
have better security.

Using a different link for youtube would not help me since I never go to
youtube and search for videos. I click links from friends that take me
to interesting youtube videos.
If I keep IE 9 as the default I may never realize how much more
accessible the page might be on Firefox. Now, I only try Firefox when I
know there are form fields or other information I know should be there.
I imagine there is a great deal more information that I don't even
realize I am missing using IE 9.
If others experience similar problems then perhaps I should contact Jaws
or Firefox about it.
Actually I was amazed at how inferior IE 9 was using Jaws.

Definitely happens with youtube, that happens with all screen readers
and flash. You could try the html5 version of youtube at
www.youtube.com/html5. As far as the other freezes go, I've found that
the best I could do was to go back to ff17 and force it to not update
automatically. I guess I should try out 19 to find out if it is any
better, but I kinda hate to break what is working.
