Hi Jim, Are you talking about, when Jaws goes into 40 minute mode for some reason? Last week I called Freedom and was asking about the update to jaws15 and gave them my jaws serial number and I have installed in two laptops. Well, later on that date my other pc, which had jaws 14 since 2013 went into 40 minute mode. I figured that was Freedom protecting the jaws ownership of the product. I am sure that has happen to many users. Are we on the same track, or I'm in a different one? No, George. but arguably a donggle would have prevented an authorization lapse (probably) for your J14. Freedom Scientific is very cautious about distributing donggles, they say and use it for their exasperated selves and customers when the latter have authorization issues for some reason. Were you able to re-authorize your J14? . On 9/14/2014 2:14 PM, TheHangMan wrote: Hi Jim, Are you talking about, when Jaws goes into 40 minute mode for some reason? However, when I inquired about the Donggle I was told that I had to fill-out a form and get approved for the purchase. What is this form the sales person speaks of?. He said that he would send it to me in an e-mail, but I never received it. I wanted to inquire here about what it is before I start trying to follow up on it. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS Dongle
It's a very simple form, and FS only wants to know why you want the dongle, and some basic information about you. Nothing very personal. I have one, and it was very easy to get. I just told them that I traveled around a lot and did not want to haul a computer around with me. I also was having to reinstall JAWS often at that time, and FS did not like me requesting Activations. The dongle will cost you $45, but I like having it. Now, I can just plug it into any computer, and depending on who owns the computer, either install the correct version of the program for their PC, or use the latest portable version, which still requires the installation of the video intercept on the computer, but this can be removed after use. One thing that I don't like about it is that I have two laptops, and sometimes I want to use JAWS on both of them at the same time. I am not sure if I can get another one for $45, but I doubt it. Another thing, FS has the dongle rigged up so that it will not appear in the list of drives in File Explorer or My Computer. So, forget trying to make another copy. LOL. Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws dongle problem
make sure your work pc's don't have the usb ports turned off. i know a lot of work nets do this so info can't be removed from pc. At 02:07 PM 1/23/2009, you wrote: Hello. We received here jaws 10 with dongle authorization. My boss paid it for me. I guess it should work with this dongle on any computer I put it in. But unfortunately it is not so. On my home computers I have no problem running jaws with the dongle. I have vista and windows 7 on my laptop, xp sp2 on my desktop and 2 virtual machines both with xp sp3. On vista, windows7 and xp sp2 it works well with installed and the portable version. It works also in one of the virtual machines. They both are the same windows xp sp3 installed from the same cd, but it works only in one of them. The second one doesn't accept to authorize with dongle. I tried it also on the 2 of the computers at work. Both of them are xp sp2 and both refuse to authorize with dongle. I useed only the portable version there. I even copied and installed the working dongle driver from my desktop, but no luck. I'm stuck. It's not convinient at all when it does this on the work PCs. Please help!
