Apologies, I didn't word that very well.
Outlook Express was not designed to be run on anything past XP. Therefore it
is not going to be supported by FS on a later version of windows.

If the program is available officially for a supported version of

FS wont make any changes to jaws 16 to improve access to outlook

Hello list
I was using outlook express ok on windows 7 PC with JFW 16 beta and this
morning I got a message that an update is available. I started the
download

but got a message that the patch could not be installed saying that there
may be an error in my installed JFW. Now the strange thing is that when I
try to do an email the to and subject fields are ok but when I try to type
in the body field I do hear what I type but when I try to read the message
jaws keeps saying blank blank. I sent a test to myself and I could read
the test message, so it is only in the body where I can not read what I
have
typed. Does anyone have a solution? O yes, I loaded jaws 15 and the
problem

does not exist, in fact I am writing this email with JFW 15 and I can read
line by line etc.

Did you re-install the patch scripts for Outlook Express in your Jaws 16
beta?

I had to do that with the first release of Jaws 16. But, my update went
fine and I am using OE with my Win 7 machine as I am writing this. I just
ran the update from the Jaws update instead of downloading the whole beta.

If you need the script, I think Dave posted it up on the Jaws-users.com
website, or send me an email off-list and I can send it to you.

the test message, so it is only in the body where I can not read what I have
typed. Does anyone have a solution? O yes, I loaded jaws 15 and the problem
does not exist, in fact I am writing this email with JFW 15 and I can read
line by line etc.

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws 16 beta problem in outlook express

2014-10-01 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

If the internet connection is disabled while AVAST is disabled, it will be
impossible to download and update the JAWS patch. You would need to have
downloaded the full updated version before disabling Avast and the internet
connection.

Hi Fanus,
I do not use Avast, so I can't really comment on that part of your question,
only to say that if you disable it to install Jaws, make sure that you
disable your Internet connection first, and re-enable it before
re-connecting to the Internet after installation.
I would think that you would get a security window from Avast to allow the
installation, if that is what's blocking it.
Have you tried re-booting the computer?

Hi Rick
So I take it that the patch update did work for you? I wonder if it has
something to do with the avast virus software because somewhere in the
process avast gave a warning about mellicious files. If you perhaps use
avast, do you know how I deactivate it or should I just uninstall and
reinstall?

 Hi Fanus,
I experienced a similar problem after updating Jaws this morning.
The problem here was Jaws not reading any of the fields for a new message.
All I needed to do was to unload Jaws, and then re-start it.

 Regards
 Fanus

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 16 Beta

2014-10-01 Thread Bob
If the program is available officially for a supported version of
windows then report it.
FS wont make any changes to jaws 16 to improve access to outlook express
as it is not supported by MS.

Hi Robin,
Windows Mail in Windows 7 is a registry edit, and Outlook Express, was not
engineered by Microsoft to workin Windows 7
and therefore may have unexpected side-effects , which FS would not have
anticipated in the development stage of Jaws.
This is a question best answered by a representative from FS,
I only mentioned it because the 2 clients mentioned, while are Microsoft
products,
are not being used in the versions of Windows that Microsoft intended.
It's kind of like using a screwdriver for a pry bar
if that is what you use it for, don't expect the manufacturer to replace it
when it breaks.

They are still important applications that need to work with JAWS. I would
think that FS wuld appreciate all bugs on popular applications and they
can decide if they want to make corrections or not. If we do not inform them
then some folks using JAWS and these applications will switch to NVDA or
other screen reader softwares. I do not think FS wants to lose any more
folks then theyall ready have.
Mind you it would be good to have Eric comment on this.

Hi Fanus and all members,
I forgot to mention this in my last message, but everyone should be aware,
Windows Mail and Outlook Express in Windows 7
are more than likely not supported by any version of Jaws
This is because neither of these e-mail clients are supported by Microsoft
in Windows 7 or higher.
So, any problems in that regard with Jaws 16 beta, should probably not go on
the beta report form.
If I am mistaken, I hope that Eric will let us know.

There are many other programs not owned or developed by Microsoft that
run on Windows currently, several of which JAWS supports (or has
supported).
