Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF ocr converter
Hi Dave, I did open the file with word 2013. At first I couldn't find the right image, so I thought I couldn't read it, but then I togled on quick keys and found a table, wich was an image, and managed to read it correctly. Thank you for your input, for it made me try again. regards, Teresa Arroyo Llosa -Original Message- From: Dave Basden Sent: Friday, November 10, 2017 1:37 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF ocr converter Both Word and WordPerfext will import pdf files with formatting if they are not just image files. For example, I might be getting a translation job and the documents I have to translate has pages in text imige, like tables. So, please, if someone could recommend me a good conversion software I would apreciate it very much. Thank you in advance. The OCR conversion feature depends on the version number of each of these applications. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Dave Basden Sent: Friday, November 10, 2017 12:38 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF ocr converter Both Word and WordPerfext will import pdf files with formatting if they are not just image files. Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF ocr converter
Morning, I have been using Abby Finereader 11 for longer than I can remember. It, 11, is no longer sold, and I was just looking as I am thinking to upgrade to version 14. The software is wonderful at converting PDF to Word and other file formats like Word and Excel. The interface of 11 is very accessible. One little feature I like is that Finereader places an item in the context menu letting you select what the software should do with a file. Example, if the file is Called JAW.PDF, right clicking the file or using the context key will show a Finereader choice and then a submenu of file formats you can choose from. The engine is very accurate even when the file is an image. I just want to be clear that I have been using version 11 an not 14. There may be a trial version out there to be sure the program is still as screen reader friendly as 11. Adobe Acrobat latest version will do the trick & drain your pocketbook. I use Abby Fine Reader Pro 12 and it works great for me. It will convert PDF to Microsoft Word or Text. I paid around $115 from Staples online. George The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
