Re: [JAWS-Users] PDF ocr converter

2017-11-12 Thread Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Hi Dave,

I did open the file with word 2013. At first I couldn't find the right
image, so I thought I couldn't read it, but then I togled on quick keys and
found a table, wich was an image, and managed to read it correctly.

Thank you for your input, for it made me try again.

regards,

Teresa Arroyo Llosa

Both Word and WordPerfext will import pdf files
with formatting if they are not just image
files. I won't vouch for the effect on
formatting, but you might try it before spending
money or time lerning new software.

The OCR conversion feature depends on the version number of each of these
applications.

2017-11-10 Thread ely.r
Morning,
I have been using Abby Finereader 11 for longer than I can remember. It, 11, is
no longer sold, and I was just looking as I am thinking to upgrade to version
14. The software is wonderful at converting PDF to Word and other file formats
like Word and Excel. The interface of 11 is very accessible. One little feature
I like is that Finereader places an item in the context menu letting you select
what the software should do with a file. Example, if the file is Called
JAW.PDF, right clicking the file or using the context key will show a
Finereader choice and then a submenu of file formats you can choose from. The
engine is very accurate even when the file is an image. I just want to be clear
that I have been using version 11 an not 14. There may be a trial version out
there to be sure the program is still as screen reader friendly as 11.

Adobe Acrobat latest version will do the trick & drain your pocketbook.
I use Abby Fine Reader Pro 12 and it works great for me. It will convert PDF
to Microsoft Word or Text. I paid around $115 from Staples online.
