2016-01-27 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
The email this goes to is not the exact same address, but I suspect that is
your domain, and you use that to filter the emails.

I can reset it again, but it will want to send you the password via email.

Do you want to change the email, and reset it again, see if there is some
filtering someplace that is catching it?

imported from legacy java.net? You may try resetting the password.

Did you have an older account you need to reset the password? Or did

Re: New Plugin Hosting

2014-11-05 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
Mine has a default regex, it just allows you to override it (there was a
specific use case that I can't remember).

I'm not rejecting it, I was just bringing up mine, since there are a few
people who want to keep the number of plugins that are similar to a low
number.

 avoid an explosion of plugins.

This plugin executes as a post build task. With no options specifically
for reg-ex it simply searches for published modules/packages to artifactory
(as part of the post build execution) and links to those directly in the
build info page. This is not designed for dependency management (input)
but rather serves a similar function to 'Archive Artifacts' but instead of
copying the files to some random location on the jenkins server it links
directly to those that were uploaded to Artifactory..

I wrote this plugin as a need for a business and thought id share. If the
community wishes to reject such no problem with me as this filled a need I
 had..

It looks like yours is for resolving dependencies not build output
 packages.

Its similar yes. Although the artifacts at the places I am at are not
java dependencies. They are deb packages or tar balls or zips. This simply

Re: New Plugin Repository Request (artifactory-polling-plugin)

2014-04-08 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
Nathan,

Is it possible you could contribute to one of those solutions to add the
features you need? Such as a better persistence of the data, or add support
for reading a gradle file for the maven or ivy one, since aren't the
artifacts still reachable by a maven coordinate?

We just want to try and avoid having TOO many plugins that do the SAME
thing, or VERY similar. Having lots of plugins is good, just don't want to
dilute existing ones.

 Hi Larry,

Unfortunately the Maven Dependency Update trigger and the IvyTrigger

also looked at the URL trigger from the XTtrigger plugin, however this
plugin does not persist any state outside of RAM. As a result, any changes
that are made if Jenkins is rebooted will not be picked up. This is
unfortunately not an option for us. Additionally the artifactory polling
plugin allows us to filter the job trigger based on a dynamic dependency
version. Thanks for pointing out the other options but unfortunately none
of them are a good fit for our problem. Believe me, I would have used a
pre-build solution if a satisfactory one existed.

Re: Spam protection problem

2014-03-27 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
The reason we get some email the list with valid emails from gmail, or
other places, is that we use stopforumspam.com to check their email
address, and ip address against known spammers reported to the
stopforumspam. So far no spammers have been brave enough to email the dev
list when they get stopped by that. It requires someone who has permissions
(like me, and a few others) to validate them. There is a mailing list that
an email gets sent to whenever that stopforumspam hit is trigger, which
allows us to click on a link to then allow them in, if they are indeed a
real person.

I've been wondering if we get something like
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.comalatech.workflow to then
have a larger group of people approve changes on the wiki, or at least new
pages. To have them go through a review before being made public. (That
might need a newer version of Confluence though). Another similar option is
to somehow moderate the changes/page additions until they are deemed to be
human, and then no moderation queue.

There seems to be some themes to the spam pages, and to maybe collect
those into a ban list for pages containing (I doubt any plugin or
legitimate page would have information on Indonesian furniture, or pirated

Re: Wave of spam attack

2013-11-04 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
That plugin will give free licenses to Open Source projects (most plugins
in the Atlassian ecosystem do)... As I've been doing a little dabbling with
other Atlassian plugins, I'll look around for a page creation approval type
of plugin.

We might want to reach out to codehaus, as I know they have quite a bit of
spam in their wiki (https://docs.codehaus.org/) and it looks like they are
not able to keep up with it. I think Apache might be someone else to reach
out to.

The cache generator layer might work too. With as fast as we remove the
spam, you would think they would not have the incentive anymore, much like
the recruiters on the mailing list have subsided once we started banning
them. I think quite a bit of it is bot related. We have had lowered the
number of spammers once we did the stopforumspam.com system, so it is
better than it used to be.

 Confluence plugin development experience.

Maybe we could do this in the static cache generator layer? If the page
appears a spam, the cache generator can generate a blank page, until we get
the author whitelisted (by adding him to a designated group in LDAP) It'd
still leave spam pages inside Confluence until they are manually cleaned
up, but if pages aren't visible, it'd hopefully reduce incentive for
 spamming.

I'm curious how other OSS communities deal with spams on WIki.

Re: Adventurous users wanted! Literate multi-branch project type

2013-09-25 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
I've not had a chance to work with the plugin yet, but did notice on a
freestyle job the Export to literate-style does not show the image
correctly. It is a broken image. The HTML for the image is as follows:

img height=24 style=margin: 2px; alt= width=24
src=/static/70af5004/plugin/cloudbees-multibranch-plugin/images/24x24/literate-export.png

Looks like
https://github.com/jenkinsci/literate-plugin/blob/master/src/main/java/org/cloudbees/literate/jenkins/MigrateFreeStyleAction.java#L91
needs
to be updated.

 Ok!

This is the first bit of noise about this. I'll be writing up a series of
blog posts around this, but as I just got everything OSS I thought that
some of the more adventurous amongst you may want to start playing with it
 now.

To play with this you need to do the following:

 1. Checkout and build (mvn install) the branch-api-plugin
 2. Checkout and build (mvn package) the literate-plugin
3a. Checkout and build (mvn package) the git plugin (either the master or
the refactoring branch... pick your poison)
3b. Checkout and build (mvn package) the subversion plugin (the
 refactoring branch)
3c. Checkout and build (mvn package) the mercurial plugin

In your Jenkins 1.509+ install the three (or more) plugins that you have
 just built

You should now be able to create literate multi-branch projects.

 To try it out.

In your SCM system create a project. In the root of the project put the
 following two files:

 $ touch .cloudbees.md
 cat - README.md EOF
 Hello World project
 ==

 How to Build
 --

 echo 'Hello world'

 EOF

Checkin these two files. Create a literate multi-branch project with your
project as a source. Trigger the indexing. You should see a sub-project for
the main branch of the project.

*NOW* go and fork your main branch into another branch.

Trigger indexing again... oh look that branch has a project too.

 Have fun.

The 10 best bug reports will be getting at least a T-shirt from CloudBees,
but I am hoping to improve the swag that I can offer.

 -Stephen

P.S. There will be an update centre that allows people to pull this
without building themselves... and there will be a blog post later today
detailing more of the fun you can do!

P.P.S. The aim is to have enough people test this that it can be
considered GA ready for JUC in late Oct 2013

P.P.P.S. Many thanks to my employers (CloudBees) for funding the
development of this fully open source (MIT license) feature for Jenkins...
the only cost is that the default marker file is called .cloudbees.md!

interesting feature and it is considerably easier to do in core than in a
plugin, I will try to get this pulled into core soon.

Our users found such a feature extremely useful as they work with build
running for hours. This was actually a part of the reason why wildfly team
switched from Jenkins CI to TeamCity (for the entire discussion see [1]).

What do you think about such a feature in core?

Re: Drop the account, plz~

2013-07-17 Thread Larry Shatzer, Jr.
Done.

You will have to change the pom.xml to have that reflected in the wiki page.

 Hi,

 ** **

I tried to create an account on https://jenkins-ci.org/account/doSignupfor
 jalberti(
 johannes.albe...@gmail.com) as well as jalberti(johannes.albe...@sap.com),
in both cases I was asked to send an email to this mailing list due to “the
SPAM problem”. Maybe rather than waiting for the account to be provided, I
can also report the actual issue workaround here for your reference, if
you could open the issue report and let me know the # number, that would be
appreciated, if you have any else resolution recommendation I’m happy to
revert the changes done on our side.
