RE: Problems with JAWS 16, Windows 8.1 and MS Office 365
Office 365/office 13 is a different kettle of fish from Office 2010. My problem was that when I opened a document from a previous version, it came up with a read only title. Would not let me change anything and JAWS would not ready the file. I finally changed it in my Word options and now I do not have the problem. My next problem to solve is to get spell-check to work as it should. In Office 365, at least my Office 365, the spellcheck opens in a separate window on the right hand side of the document and F-6 will not take you over there and JAWS does not want to read it using F-7. I think I have instructions somewhere to tell me how to use this particular version of spell check but I want it to work as it used to work. Is that too much to ask of Microsoft? -Original Message- From: Feliciano Godoy via Jfw [mailto:jfw@lists.the-jdh.com] Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 12:17 PM To: Ian Nichols; The Jaws for Windows support list. Re: My focus losing jaws settings?
Hello Lelia, I see you have not received any responses to your query; have you tried contacting Ryan at FS training? Cheers Kevin. -Original Message- From: Lelia via Jfw Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2015 9:48 AM To: jfw@lists.the-jdh.com Subject: My focus losing jaws settings? Hi all, first thanks for all the answers to all my questions. I have a focus blue 40 classic and have Jaws 13 running windows 7 I have a dell desktop. Ok so the information is out of the way. Now for the question, For some odd reason I keep losing my jaws settings with my focus blue 40 classic Braille display. Here is what I do to save settings, When I go into the options menu of Jaws and choose Braille I open general and it almost always says there is no active Braille display and the combo boxes give me 3 choices 1 No display, 2 Focus, and 3 remote access Braille. I choose focus then go to add Braille display and my focus is always checked, Now when I tab to set it to Bluetooth, sometimes it's already set there and sometimes it keeps going to com 6. So then I tried hitting inser f2 and going to Braille and saving settings that way and I even restarted my computer after saving settings. I even tried not restarting the computer and just restarting Jaws, any tips? Thanks. Lelia Sincerely, Lelia Struve -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Outlook 2010 searches
Hi all. The other day someone posted instructions on searching email inbox items. It was said one way was to use the start key and edit field to enter searchable items. RE: Outlook 2010 searches
Hi! For me, I use the tab key to find the search box in Outlook, and type what I'm searching for. For instance, if I want to search by name, I'll type the person's name. If I know what the subject is, I can search that way. I enter the terms, and press search. I wait a few seconds, and then tab over to the results. I can then find the email that I'm looking for that way. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Andre Jarreau via Jfw Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 2:47 PM To: jfw@lists.the-jdh.com Subject: Outlook 2010 searches Hi all. Issue with creating accessible PDF files.
Hi folks! I'm having an issue with creating an accessible PDF document. I am able to create the document, and save it as a PDF file. When I pull up the PDF file, JAWS reads it, but I'm noticing that the words are run together, and JAWS tries to pronounce the words as one word, because there is no space between the two or three words. It appears that JAWS is reading this correctly. My concern is that somehow in the translation, the words are being run together. How do you keep this from happening? Is there a way to make these words have spaces between them? -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... RE: Outlook 2010 searches
Hello there; This may help some using outlook 20072010; Using Find In MSOutlook20072010 Using Jaws Locating All Messages By One Sender: This will work in any mailbox E.g., in-box, sent-box etc. 1. Press ctrl+shift+the letter f=advance-find. 2. Tab three times=fromedit. 3. Type in a sender's first or last name. 4. Press enter. 5. Press the f6key and you are put into the list of messages by the sender you searched for. 6. If you open a message to read it, press escape once to close it. Then move to the next one to read. 7. If you open a message to read and do not wish to read any more, press escape twice and you are placed back in to the original location were the search was started. This means if you were in the in-box when starting the search, pressing escape twice will return you back to the in-box. Pressing escape once will only return you to the list of messages found in the search. *** II. Searching For A Specific Topic In A Subject Field: 1. Press ctrl+shift+the letter f. 2. Type a word that would be found in the subject line you are searching for. 3. Press enter. 4. Press f6 and you are put into the list of messages containing the subject line searched for. 5. If you open a message to read it, press escape once to close it. Then move to the next one to read. 6. If you open a message to read and do not wish to read any more, press escape twice and you are placed back in to the original location were the search was started. This means if you were in the in-box when starting the search, pressing escape twice will return you back to the in-box. Pressing escape once will only return you to the list of messages found in the search. another way to do this is, example, within the inbox, ctrl+e= edit search, now type in the search word, now, shift+tab twice, you will see the list of messages pertaining to the search criteria another way is; from inside the inbox for example, press the f3key, type in search criteria, shift+tab to the results. hope this helps. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Andre Jarreau via Jfw Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 3:47 PM To: jfw@lists.the-jdh.com Subject: Outlook 2010 searches Hi all. RE: Outlook 2010 searches
I'm curious about this method, too. Meanwhile, I want to make sure Outlook's control+shift+f search function isn't overlooked. Someone suggested JAWS key+control+f, but in Outlook 2010, that works only inside messages. To search through a folder of messages, place focus at the message list and press control-shift-f. Tab through for the various search options. Type in the text and press enter. Once results are assembled, press F6 to enter the list. Note. Pressing enter on the first item doesn't open it unless you arrow down once and back up again. Note. To search for a search string in a message, as opposed to just the subject line, I do the following: control+shift+f, tab once, arrow down once, shift+tab, type in the string, then press enter. I don't know if the control+shift+f method works in Outlook 2013. -Original Message- From: Jfw [mailto:jfw-boun...@lists.the-jdh.com] On Behalf Of Andre Jarreau via Jfw Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2015 3:47 PM To: jfw@lists.the-jdh.com Subject: Outlook 2010 searches Hi all.
