[JPP-Devel] [ANN]: WFSPlugin 1.1.0 released

2008-07-04 Thread Stephan Holl
Hello OpenJUMP-users,

we are proud to release a new version of the WFSPlugin for OpenJUMP.

Since some newly developed features (e.g. WFS-T fpr WFS 1.1.0) were
'hidden' in SVN for quite a while we consider the plugin to be stable
with this new features.

This release includes the following new features and bugfixes:

   Features:
- implemented WFS-T for WFS 1.1.0 (mainly tested against deegree
  WFS-T-server)
- added basic authentification-support for usage with deegree
  OWSProxy
- updated with current deegree2.jar
- handling of empty featuretypes and fake geometries (useful for
  transactions)
- improved internal threading

   Bugfixes:
- fix of WFSFrame for standalone usage
- fix for non-localized messages under Windows
- some cosmetics on the build-mechanism
- improved exceptions
- improved API for more generic use (outside the plugin)
- code-cleanup
- fixed 'caching' of transaction requests
- fixed WFS 1.0.0 regarding feature types without
namespace regarding feature types without namespace
- convert long values to int since OpenJUMP dies not know them

Cudos to Andreas Schmitz from lat/lon GmbH who has done major
development on the WFSPlugin recently.

You can grab it from the usual download-page from sourceforge:

https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118054&package_id=150819

Have fun

Yes, since the ECW-binaries are included in the builds now (since
r2425 and r2442) we cannot distribute them with the binaries included
anymore. This is not allowed by the GPL!

So if the OpenJump-community wants this included (which is not allowed)
we will stop supporting the the nightly builds from our side.

Sorry about that.

It was clearly communicated with Stefan Steiniger to have the nightlies
without any proprietary codes in it.

I could not find the place where I could get the SDK dlls (version
3.3) for Download for free. It would be good if you could provide a
link where the files came from.

Current ERDAS-website does apparently does not host it (any more?).

I would like to see the dlls excluded in the nightlies and provided in
a separate package if one likes to use them. Additionally, this version
only allows the compression and decompression of files <500MB. Who is
checking this with this binary build?

Looking at the GDAL/QGIS-folks the do not distribute any binadary-build
using ECW; however, building from source is surely available, but the
enduser must download an SDK - after aggreeing a licence term.

Again, I would strongly vote for excluding the ecw-binaries and adding
a hint to the enduser, that ECW-dlls are available and only need to be
placed at some place to make OJ happily using it though.

another 0.02¢.

We, Intevation, like to continue providing the nightly builds as it was
before, without any proprietare binary code in it.

It should not be too hard building a mvn-target especially for creating the
nighlies without proprietary binary-code in it though. The one who use the
nightlies already have dir-layout. So copiying the DLLs will only take place,
_once_. Upgrading with the ECW-less NBs will then cleanly install into the
same dir and will find (the ECW-libs from former installation/unzipping).

If anybody is willing the provide a mvn-target without ECW, I will reenabling
the NBs and also fix the nameing-problem, which initialy started this
discussion :-)

Any other thoughts on that?

mvn clean package

produces the following binaries.

 * OpenJUMP-20111018-rnull-CORE.zip
 * OpenJUMP-20111018-rnull.jar

It seems that the revision is somewhat
broken. Which magic is needed here?

Any advice?

this is obvious...

There is still something else wrong. I see the command

 /bin/sh -c cd /home/builder/openjump && svn --non-interactive
 info

running by mvn, but there is rnull in the resulting targets.
And I am afraid mvn would complain not having 'svn' in the path.

any other thoughts?

[JPP-Devel] [ANN]: WFSPlugin 1.0.0 released

2007-06-04 Thread Stephan Holl
Hello OpenJUMP users,

the development of a WFSPlugin has started in early april and a first
version was given to the community recently.

Now with this release we have have fullfilled the roadmap within
this project and release the WFSPlugin as 1.0.0.

There are lots of bugfixes and some new features included.

The plugin is known to work with OJ 1.0.1 and OJ 1.2b as well as with
the nightly builds.

Download binary here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118054&package_id=150819

Installing:
1. Copy the wfsplugin.jar
   into the lib/ext directory of
   your OpenJump installation.

2. Install additional libraries needed to run the plugin.
Download the following jar files and put them into /lib/ext:

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/commons-codec-1.3.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/commons-logging.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/jaxen-1.1-beta-8.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/deegree2.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/commons-httpclient-2.0.2-deegreeversion.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/vecmath.jar

   *IMPORTANT*:
If you tried version < 0.2.0 of WFSPlugin, you need to update at
least the deegree2.jar following the link below:

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/WFSPlugin/lib/deegree2.jar

3. Start your OpenJUMP and you should use the WFSPlugin-icon

Possible features for upcoming versions:
-
 - make (poorly configured) UMN MapServer-WFS also available
 - integrate WFS-T against geoserver/deegree
 - more general SRS-integration (in deegree2)
 - create user-documentation

Have fun and all the best

    Stephan Holl

Yes, that was my intention to tell as well. I strongly suggest to
follow this schema in OJ-development as well.

Yes, I do have an account, I have access to CVS, at least to the
modules WFSPlugin and PrintLayoutPlugin which I manage.

Could you point us to the right direction inside the huge deegree-SVN?
I think this will make the search easier and shows the relevant parts
quickly.

Personaly I invite everything trying the deegree-framework to see its
capabilities and power within an OWS-environment. One great thing is
that deegree already support WFS 1.1 for example.

[JPP-Devel] [ANN] PrintLayoutPlugin 1.0.1

2007-06-06 Thread Stephan Holl
Hello OpenJUMP users,

the development of a new PrintLayout Plugin (replacing the old
french-only version) has started in december.

Now a bugfix-release of version 1.0.1 is released.

Download here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118054&package_id=219772&release_id=513623

We thank the funding organisation very much also for this bugfixing
release.
Of course, many more ideas came up. We hope for even more comments and
will collect them in the wishlist of this plugin. Perhaps this
motivates for further contributions.

Changes:
  * New: Enable legends for Layerables (WMS)
  * New: Ability to print transparent maps
  * New: Enable legends for Layerables (WMS)
  * New: New factory model for SVG map generation
  * Fixed: removing some unneeded imports
  * Fixed: updated i18n-messages, typos fixed
  * Fixed: make fetching asynchron layers (WMS/DB) more reliably
  * various cleanups

Installing:

1. Copy the printlayout.jar
   into the lib/ext directory of
   your OpenJump installation.

ATTENTION: The next steps replace existing jar files. Be sure
you don't get into trouble when you loose these files. Backups
or a separate installation of OpenJump could help here.

NOTE: OpenJUMP 1.2b: You don't need to update batik, xml-apis and
xml-apis-ext anymore, because the version included in OpenJUMP 1.2b is
already sufficient.

2. [OpenJump 1.0] Remove the batik libraries coming with
   OpenJump and replace them:

   rm -rf /lib/batik

3. [OpenJump 1.0] Download these jar files and place them into
   /lib

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/openjump/lib/batik/batik-all.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/openjump/lib/xml-apis-ext.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/openjump/lib/xml-apis.jar

4. [OpenJump 1.0 and 1.2] Download these jar files and place them into
   /lib/ext

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/PrintLayoutPlugin/lib/js.jar

http://jump-pilot.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/jump-pilot/PrintLayoutPlugin/lib/pdf-transcoder.jar

5. Only on Windows, likely for OpenJUMP 1.0, maybe for other releases:
You need to use the .bat start file and fix CLASSPATH there.

The orginal openjump.bat adds all old batik jars
   to the CLASSPATH explicitly.

You have to remove all %LIB%/batik/foobar.jar
   and add %LIB%/batik-all.jar

Have fun and all the best

    Stephan

If there is the possibility to change over to SVN I would strongly vote
for this for various benefiting reasons.

But as already stated, Stefan as "CVS-maintainer" should decide.

What about the binary-libs? I encountered broken libs at least under
WFSPlugin/libs/*.jar. It seems they were not commited as binary in CVS.

> I want to thank Stefan, Andreas, and Sascha for all of their help. I

Is it possible to have the commit-emails sent to the mailinglist as it
was with CVS?

Does your Email I am replying to sais that the 'work' on the repository
is done and we can continue committing?
Asked that I think that the plugins should have its own
trunk|tags|branches-tree like Paul suggested. I know it is a little
more work, but separate releases of the plugins are then possible and
more transparent.
Anyway, thanks for your efforts!!

I tested it on debian and it runs out of the box. I do not have any
dot-files in my home though, so I could not test this.

It comes up as usual and I have noticed no problems after a short test.

I strongly vote for naming it openjump-unix.sh to indicate that it is
the startscript for *NIX-like OS.

Which OpenJump-Version are you refering to? I have done test with OJ
1.0.1 and with OJ 1.2b, where the latter already included the needed
jai-jars.

I _think_ we have installed the jre-version of jai as well, but I will
recheck with system-staff later.

Meanwhile you could use OJ1.2b witb the WFSPlugin though.
