Tested with Kwin & Plasma 5.10.4-1, Nvidia 375.66, on Nvidia GTX960.

Not fixed. Suspend and resume still corrupts text under icons.

Dude. I don't know or care whether the bug is in Kwin or Plasma.
Forget I even mentioned Plasma.

The bug is not a "crash" in Kwin. It is about corrupted buffer objects, eg text
under icons after suspend/resume. There is no "crash".

Read the recent comment just above from Pierre. Whatever this bug is, whether
it's Kwin, or Plasma, it appears that it is NOT fixed. Sorry.

I am not trying to associate some new bug with this old report. I'm only back
here because it looked like this bug was fixed, horray! And then Pierre
reported that it seems not fixed. 

I have updated my F26 system and I am about to see whether it's fixed for me,
and will report back shortly.

If you want the issue to get fixed in Plasma, report it against Plasma. Once
again: this bug report here was about the crash in KWin with NVIDIA and nothing
else. We have one bug report per issue. If there are multiple issues multiple
bug reports are required.

Plasma developer reads this bug report as it is on product KWin. Even if it

This bug, which affects KDE neon, is the SAME bug that has affected Kubuntu
from 15.10 through the current daily build of 17.10.

I'll quote David Schoen from his bug report, which equally describes the
situation on KDE neon:

"Selecting 'Manual' under disk setup if I add a "/boot" and then create the
next partition as "physical volume for encryption" I'm then given no way to use
that volume (i.e formatting and setting up the passphrase so I can put LVM or
FS on it). See crypto-no-usable-options.png.

"None of the available buttons on the screen do anything useful at this point
and additionally it's very easy to accidentally trigger [Launchpad] bug
#1510730 while looking for some way to apply the layout.

"Basically there doesn't seem to be any way to do custom layouts using crypto
in ubiquity currently."


I'll just add the following:

I can confirm this bug exists in the latest daily build of Kubuntu 17.10 amd64
(downloaded 2017-08-06), both when installing onto a newer UEFI system and when
installing onto an older BIOS system.

I haven't tested the latest daily build of Ubuntu, but I can confirm that this
bug does NOT exist in Ubuntu 16.04.3 or Ubuntu 17.04.

Moreover, this bug does NOT exist in the latest daily build of Ubuntu MATE
17.10 amd64 (downloaded 2017-08-06), and does NOT exist in the latest daily
build of Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 amd64 (downloaded 2017-08-06).

Note that lauchpad user Artemgy mentions in the Kubuntu bug report that the bug
exists in Lubuntu Next 17.10 amd64, and that Lubuntu Next 17.10 derives its
variant of Ubiquity from Kubuntu.

After terminating all instances and running konsole again, I was also unable to

I'm currently using Gentoo Linux with the following packages:

a. lightdm-1.18.3 (with the patch in Gentoo Bug Report #605370 for non-systemd
installations, although I believe that is irrelevant as far as this bug is
concerned)
b. lightdm-gtk-greeter-2.0.1-r1
c. plasma-meta-5.9.5
d. accountsservice 0.6.43-r1

Below is a work-around for this bug, which works in my case. Steps 5 to 7 only
apply to SDDM (I use LightDM and have not checked if the steps below are a
work-around for an installation using SDDM). The other steps apply to both
LightDM and SDDM.

1. I created a 96x96 PNG avatar
/home/fitzcarraldo/Pictures/Avatars/Fitzcarraldo.png

2. I edited the file /var/lib/AccountsService/users/fitzcarraldo to contain the
following (replace 'en_GB.utf8' with your language)

3. I made sure that file has 644 permissions

KDE Plasma 5 Lock screen, in 'System Settings' > 'Account Details' > 'User
Manager', and at the top of the KDE Plasma 5 Application Launcher menu.

I recommend not using 'System Settings' > 'Account Details' > 'User Manager'
until the bug is squashed, but you can copying the avatars of the other users
in your installation to /var/lib/AccountsService/icons/ and add/edit the other
users' files in /var/lib/AccountsService/users/ as I explained above. I have
always used the utility superadduser on the command line to add new users (if
it's not available in your distribution then use your distribution's usual
command-line commands to add a new user). I have now used it to add a new user,
and then I manually repeated the process I described above. The avatar of the
new user is displayed correctly everywhere it should be, and my own account's
avatar is still displayed everywhere it should be. So I can achieve everything
without touching 'System Settings' > 'Account Details' > 'User Manager'.

A bug was reported. It was initially atrtributed to Kwin. Eventually Plasma got
involved. I don't know the details, I'm just hoping the bug can be fixed. It
looks like people thought it was fixed at last, but it seems it may not quite
be fixed after all.

It looks like Kwin & Plasma 5.10.4 have arrived in F26 so I'm just going to
update from 5.10.1 and see how it looks on my system.

This is on my KDE Neon build from master

Steps to reproduce

1. Start recording a macro
2. make a few strokes
3. stop recording macro

result is a crash.

I did a bracktrace. It appears it has to do something with the Mimetype in
KoFileDialog.

It is happening at this line.

 dialog.setMimeTypeFilters(QStringList() << "application/krita-recorded-macro",
"application/krita-recorded-macro");


The console provides this information while trying to set the mime type...

"No file found for ".xml" , even though update-mime-info said it would exist.
Either it was just removed, or the directory doesn't have executable
permission... ("/usr/share/mime")"

grouping: Fix setting rating via overlay

Requires new functionality to check for grouping for specific model indexes
instead of currently selected ones. To that end some refactoring was necessary,

patch to correct BD capacity for 25 and 50 "GB" discs

When adding files to a data project without a blank disc in the drive, k3b will
use the built-in capacities for Blu-ray media.  However, these are wrong.  k3b
thinks that blu-ray media is 25 or 50 GB ("GiB"), but it is actually only
slightly more than 25/50 "salesman GB", a little less than 23.3 "real" GB. 
This means that the capacity gauge cannot be used precisely when making data
projects, and one must resort to shell tools, or one's favorite pocket
calculator.

I think this bug is at least a couple of years old; I am surprised that it is
still around, and that no one has reported it.  The fix is very simple, and I
have attached a patch.  In fact, one can see from the adjacent code comment
that the author knows the values are wrong.

Fix renaming of combined fragment sections' names

The text displayed in the first and second section of a combined fragment
widget are stored in the text variable, which was not set by the
ClassGeneralPage::apply method. This commit fixes this method's logic.

Going through old bugs, but I'm not able to reproduce this.  The CMake code for
this is in KF5CoreAddonsMacros.cmake, which seems to indicate that this might
be a CMake bug fixed in CMake 3.0.0.

If it's possible to reproduce with a more recent CMake please reopen, but the
"touch desktop file; re-run make" trick worked fine for me.

Valgrind is reporting that a Unix syscall is missing on the Darwin platform.

The syscall number can be found in /usr/include/sys/syscall.h on your local
machine. You should find that unix:463 is "openat".

For an example of the way in which Darwin syscalls are added in valgrind, take

This sounds related to my problem. I can't get the "workaround" of "Store
password and make it available for all users (unencrypted)" to work. Running
openSUSE 42.2 it seems it *INSISTS* on storing the password in kdewallet. So I
have a nasty catch-22 ...

If my ~ is on the network (mine isn't - other users are) then I can't log in
until the network is running, but the network won't start until I've logged in
and enabled access to my kdewallet!

Same situation here. But now it has gotten worse. When I lock the session,
after a long time when accessing again, I present the same problem, the panels,
the wallpaper, have disappeared. I have to run plasmashell in KRunner. This is

Compile and regression suite tested on AMD64/Darwin (macOS 10.11,
clang-800.0.42.1). No new regressions seen with v13 of the patches.

Steps to reproduce:

- Get a number of E-Mails in inbox from a POP3 server.

- Move mails from inbox to a local folder (e.g. named "mails from office"),

- Press button "Check Mail"

==> Most, if not all, mails that were moved are coming into inbox again and
create duplicates, i.e. they exist twice or even more often with same content,
name, sender etc. in the same (sub-) folder.

Comments: I have selected option to delete mails from server after downloading
them from POP3 server, but the mails will move into inbox again even if they
are no longer available on POP3 server.

The next time it happens please monitor whether the window manager is still
running. E.g. Alt+Tab, move window by Alt+left mouse, etc.

We need to know whether KWin crashed or whether there is an issue with
rendering the decorations.

Migrating KStars to use QLoggingCategory framework which supports granular
control over logging in runtime.

The migration is still not complete yet but the base structure is there and
operational and we should migrate any qDebug..et al when appropiate to use the
QLoggingCategory framework. When you write code, you must abide by this, I will
not accept any code that does not use the framework when logging.
