[ksmserver] [Bug 410967] New: Wayland ignores screen/monitor setup after logout

2019-08-15 Thread Thiago Sueto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410967

Bug ID: 410967
Summary: Wayland ignores screen/monitor setup after logout
   Product: ksmserver
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: herzensch...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
My current setup consists of a full HD monitor (LG 24MK430H 23.8") in front of
me and to its right the laptop (Dell 5567 with KDE Neon Unstable and using
Wayland) with the lid closed.

When I go into System Settings and configure Displays so that the laptop screen
is disabled, apply, then logout, login screen will have my laptop screen
re-enabled and accessible through mouse despite me not seeing it, as the lid is
closed. (need to recheck to see if this is 100% reproducible)

Regardless of whether the screen is re-enabled or not on the login screen, and
regardless of whether my mouse can move to the laptop screen on a new session,
System Settings always displays laptop screen as Enabled.

The laptop screen frame in Displays also appears underneath the monitor screen
frame (need to recheck to see if 100% reproducible), a fact which seems to be
the cause for a few graphical glitches perceivable in the menu, as the glitches
disappear after disabling laptop screen once again.

"Start with an empty session" is enabled.
"Save as new global values for this display" is selected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Disable laptop screen in System Settings while lid is closed and apply
2. Logout normally through menu and logout screen
3. Login normally through login screen
* By moving the mouse, it's possible to verify that the laptop screen is active
while on the login screen.
4. Verify System Settings
* Laptop screen lies underneath monitor screen.
* Graphical glitches occur in the menu and possibly in other areas.

OBSERVED RESULT
After login, both screens are activated, differently from what was defined by
the user.

EXPECTED RESULT
After login, only the monitor is activated, as defined by the user.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.12.3
Kernel Version: 5.0.0-23-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 7,7 GiB

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
As soon as I can, I'll retest the reproducibility of all steps.
What is always reproducible is the fact that laptop screen gets activated every
time.
I don't know if this is the correct product to file this bug report.

I have changed the platform in the bug header from Win CE to MS Windows to
avoid further confusion.
Please configure your email software to send only plain text. Also note that
when you reply by email, your entire email becomes the next comment on the bug,
so you can trim the previous comment you are replying to. (Look at the bug in
a browser to see what I'm talking about.()

When upgrading from 4.8 to 5.0 there was a known problem which required you to
remap any online account using libofx, but that only needs to be done once.

What exactly do you mean by "the same problem"? Did 4.8 also fail fetching the
bank list? It only does that when mapping an account. Did it forget the
mapping?

When you say other accounts are already mapped, but get the same error, that
doesn't make sense, since the fetching the list of banks only happens when you
are mapping an account.

When you say you set up a new database, do you mean you are using the SQL
storage and created a whole new KMM database?

When you say you can import from Quicken, please confirm you mean you are
importing a local file. Also, have you tried downloading an OFX file from the
bank and importing that local file? If that works, we can focus on the mapping
problem, and whether there is still a problem with kio (KDE library) on
Windows.

>From the OP by personal email: I am running windows 10, when I first stating
using the program about 6 months ago I could download from my bank okay, then I
started having problems. I downloaded the update last night. I cannot import
from Quicken, either.

Leonard, please keep all messages about this posted to the bug, not personal
email.

So are you on Win 10, and the Win CE in the bug header was just a mis-click?
That certainly avoids some unknowns. However, please be clear about all steps
you took.
1) What problems were you having with the prior version? Which prior version?
2) After you upgraded, what did you try and what problems did you have.
3) Did the program remember the online mapping for the account, or did it
claim the account was not mapped? In other words, why were you trying to remap
the account. (That's the reason it was trying to download the bank list.)
4) When you say you can't import from Quicken, is that an online update, or
importing from a local file?
All these details are important, so we understand exactly what is happening.
Without that, we can't really be sure what's wrong, or even what to suggest you
try next.

Thanks.

   Summary: kdiff3 vs svn (subversion)
   Product: kdiff3
   Version: 1.7.90
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: reeves...@gmail.com
  Reporter: br...@gmcl.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The command line sent to kdiff3 by svn used to work. Now it doesn't. The
command line from svn is apparently:
  kdiff3 -u -L "filename (revision n)" -L "filename (revision m)"
/tmp/svn-mumble /tmp/svn-mumble

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create or find some useful text file for testing, such as fox.txt
2. in the shell, type
  kdiff3 -u -L "Left" -L "Right" fox.txt fox.txt

OBSERVED RESULT
From 1.7.90, a three-way diff of Left, Right, and fox.txt, and complaints
that it cannot open Left and Right.
From 1.8.1, a Severe Internal Error: "Data loss error: If is it reproducible
please contact the author."

EXPECTED RESULT
a two-way diff of fox.txt and fox.txt, the two files labelled "Left" and
"Right" (naturally showing no differences). This is what we saw with kdiff3
0.9.98.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Kubuntu 19.04, which has 1.7.90. Also loaded the 1.8.1 package from Kubuntu
19.10.

[kpat] [Bug 378263] solver says "this game cannot be won" while it is still possible to win the game

I have observed the same behavior in a kpatience/spider game though,
unfortunately, I did not record the number of the game. Also, my platform is
Fedora 30, not Ubuntu, but I assume that does not matter.
Having played Spider on Linux for years, I noticed that a couple of years ago
the solver was considerably improved and its credibility clearly increased.
However, there still are situations in which the solver claims a game cannot be
won when it actually can.
Another annoying solver error is the situation near the end of a game when the
solver says: "Undeterminable whether the game can be won" - and there are two
unturned cards left together with three vacant spaces on the board!
I have a snapshot of such a situation but it probably is not needed.

Without that, we can't really be sure what's wrong, or even what to suggest you
try next.

Thanks.

David,

Check this out. Here we have a perfect stacktrace.

Could be a race condition: Plotter::render() is entered with a valid m_node,
then it's somehow set to nullptr, possibly from another thread. However don't
have a deep understanding of how QML works, can't even say if it's possible for
windowChanged() signal to be handled in a thread different from the "render"
thread.

I think this can't be a duplicate of 403453 because the current bug #410648 was
reported against KF 5.59.0, while a fix for bug 403453 was already included in
KF 5.58.0.

This is important because you've just marked several reports as duplicates of
an already FIXED bug, and this suggests that this specific crash won't happen
again under the same circumstances which is wrong.

I'm not marking duplicates because I can't be sure they are duplicates, most of
the time we don't have a deep enough stacktrace. We can see that something
crashes inside libkquickcontrolsaddonsplugin.so, but there may be multiple
different bugs inside libkquickcontrolsaddonsplugin.so C++ code.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410954

First, if you reply by email, and not by posting to bugs.kde.org, please send
only text, not html. The html ends up being made an attachment to the bug.

Please let me know if you have successfully downloaded OFX from this bank
before. The first message (loading banklist) is shown when mapping the
account. Are you failing there? If so, you haven't actually gotten to the
point of downloading anything from the bank itself.

However, the second message (unable to create io-slave) is likely an issue
related to Windows. I don't actually know if anyone has tested KMM on Windows
CE. That's why it's important for us to know if you have done a succesful OFX
download before - specifically on Windows CE. Also, please let us know which
exact link you used to download KMM. (I don't run Windows at all, so I can't
test.) There have been problems in the past with some KDE features not working
correctly on Windows, but I thought they had been addressed, so we may have to
wait for someone who specifically prepares the Windows installer to comment.

[krita] [Bug 410959] New: Full screen mode disappearing when invoking popup palette and color history

2019-08-15 Thread Manga Tengu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410959

Bug ID: 410959
Summary: Full screen mode disappearing when invoking popup
palette and color history
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.2.4
  Platform: macOS Disk Images
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: mangate...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When invoking a popup docker (color selector, color history) in full screen,
the os switches back to the desktop and displays the pop up there, alone (over
all the other applications but without the krita window).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. go full screen: it works fine
2. go desktop screen
3. go full screen: krita hides and shows only the popup palette over the
desktop

OBSERVED RESULT
So macOS has this disgusting sliding desktop effect when you open a fullscreen
app. The whole desktop will disappear sliding to the left. Then if you get back
to it, your full screen app will disappear sliding to the right...this is what
happens when I open a pop up palette. It opens alone on top of the desktop
while the krita fullscreen window has slid to the right and is invisible

EXPECTED RESULT
Krita still be visible under the popup palette even if I switch back and forth
fullscreen and windowed mode...

MacOS Latest/Krita 4.2.X, actually tested on 4.2.4, 4.2.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
You definitely need a popup layers, that would be so cool..

In my case it's very simple to check corruption of jpg files.
Dolphin cannot compute the preview and if i open it with gwenview then a part
of the image is gray.

Git commit a2fe5212126c05f8638709d640bc1ba1589026b0 by David Edmundson.
Committed on 15/08/2019 at 20:58.
Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'Plasma/5.12'.

Fix model updates in RunnerMatchesModel

Summary:
RunnerMatchesModel is backed by a list. When this list changes
RunnerManagerModel add/removes the new number of rows then called
dataChanged on everything that remained.

It's a common pattern, but not a great one. Especially with QtQuick
where moving a delegate is faster than updating all the properties of an
existing one - unfortunately I can't find a nice solution to do this
properly in linear time.

The problem with the current code is we update the entire list in the
insert/remove rows. This is a violation of the model rules as we're
updating rows outside the rows listed inside begin/remove rows.

It works, but Qt's model test fails.

We also have a lot of duplicates of a crash in QtQuick after runner
model changes, bug 369430. I think it could be related, but can't
prove anything.

This patch updates the rows that exist in both the before and after
models before adding/removing the remaining rows.

Test Plan:
Added Qt model tester in https://phabricator.kde.org/P283
It now passes.

FWIW, I made a change in 5.15.0

commit 9371a7c96d4722b93b49b18df7b21780f2a9ad38

Effectively we didn't pass Qt's model test, now we do.
I can't prove it's related, but it's in the same area.

All these reports seem to be pre-5.15.0

Please reopen if that's not the case

If you have found a workaround stick with it. My proposal is to not use Always

Which download type are you using? Have you ever successfully downloaded data
from this bank before? Will it work if you manually download the file and then
import the local file? How long have you waited to see if it's a temporary
delay? What does happen when it hits 33%? Does it just sit there or does it
time out and provide any error?

Which download type are you using? Have you ever successfully downloaded data
from this bank before? Will it work if you manually download the file and then
import the local file? How long have you waited to see if it's a temporary
delay? What does happen when it hits 33%? Does it just sit there or does it
time out and provide any error?

Definitely sounds like an upstream issue in the PackageKit library. I would
recommend filing a bug for the developer at
https://github.com/hughsie/PackageKit with all the information you've
discovered here.

Thanks!

The commandline pkcon client succeeds in fetching updates, but both graphical
software stores fail (in fact they can't display any software).

APT works of course and does GetNewStuff (or whatever it's called).
Unfortunately the reliance on packagekit means the central graphical
update/install system - so the system updater and software center do not work
at all.

[kate] [Bug 410951] Pasting text from Firefox adds bogus whitespace characters at the end of every line / sanitize pasted text

2019-08-15 Thread Eike Hein
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410951

I've had a similar problem the other day. I was copying some text from KDE's
Etherpad (notes.kde.org), specifically bullet point lists, to Kate and adding
`",` at the end and using block insert mode to add `"` and some indentation in
the front. Then I copied it into KDevelop. I was turning Etherpad bullets into
a QML string list, basically.

Somewhere in this chain of events, some of the lines ended up with
whitespace/newlines in front of the closing `"` that would get written out to
disk, but not shown in the UI. I had to reload with F5 to see it and be able to
remove it.

Gnome software doesn't work either right now (it just loads the software
catalog for ever), even after removing the repos.

So I think packagekit is what's broken, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
Maybe if there are there are troubleshooting features in packagekit, they
should be integrated into Discover, so that the user has some recourse when the
backend (inevitably) breaks.
