[Akonadi] [Bug 478033] EWS accounts unusable - constantly lose authentication

2024-03-26 Thread Paolo Pedroni
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478033

Basic functionality now (24.02.1) works, but:
- it keeps spamming the system log with "org.kde.pim.ews.client: Failed to
process EWS request:" messages
- it leaks memory and after a few hours it fills RAM and swap space and then
the PC freezes until the OOM killer kicks in.

[k3b] [Bug 479863] Does not finish the burning process of a iso image but the DVD risults burnt without errors

2024-01-29 Thread Paolo Berti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479863

I did the patch above described to growisofs_mmc.cpp and compiled from source
(not easy at all):(https://salsa.debian.org/optical-media-team/dvd-rw-tools).

The resulted growisofs executable, placed in /usr/bin/, worked well without any
error while burning the iso file.

[k3b] [Bug 479863] Does not finish the burning process of a iso image but the DVD risults burnt without errors

2024-01-18 Thread Paolo Berti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=479863

WORK AROUND FOR THE K3b problem: hang at the end of DVD-R[W] DAO recording.

The problem was observed with image sizes not divisible by 32KB. It manifests
itself as I/O error in the last WRITE command, which is caused by latter's
timeout. The recording per se is properly completed by unit and no data loss
occurs. To work around the timeout condition, pad input image file up to the
nearest 32KB boundary or avoid DAO recordings.

One way to pad is to:

perl -e '$blk=32*1024; $nm=@ARGV[0]; $sz=(stat($nm))[7];
truncate($nm,int(($sz+$blk-1)/$blk)*$blk);' example.iso

(ref: http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/hcn.html)

IT WORKED FOR ME!!!

HELP FOR A RESOLVE
The bug is described and a diagnosis is given here:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=794868

It gives this patch to the growisofs_mmc.cpp file as a definitive solution:

- if (!(errcode=cmd.transport (WRITE,(void *)buff,size)))
+ if (!(errcode=cmd.transport (WRITE,(void *)buff,nbl*2048)))
 break;

In the source package of dvd+rw-7.1-14build1 (used by Ubuntu 20.04.6), the file
growisofs_mmc.cpp, at line n. 527, has exactly:
if (!(errcode=cmd.transport (WRITE,(void *)buff,size)))
So, corrected as above can resolve the bug.

I am not a c++ expert and am not able to do it by my self.

[systemsettings] [Bug 476941] New: This module is too much developers oriented

2023-11-13 Thread Paolo Zamponi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=476941

Bug ID: 476941
Summary: This module is too much developers oriented
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.27.9
  Platform: openSUSE

Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_sddm
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: feu...@gmail.com
CC: k...@david-redondo.de, k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

This module seems too much developers oriented. I mean, if a regular user lands
here it seems one can only choose which picture he'll see when he log in!
Instead, if you know what is SDDM and what is meant for you may decide, e.g. if
you want to login in a wayland or in a X11 session. But unfortunately this
setting is buried into a "Behavior" button and it's not so obvious for all to
find it there.

So maybe:
-let this module can be find by enter, e.g. "wayland" or "x11" in the search
field;
-add some (little) explanation for those (like me) who think here they can only
choose a picture :).

What about to remove the Behavior button and put its contents directly in the
window?

Can confirm, but let me add here on more thought.

I have a dual boot installation (Plasma 5/6), and in the "old" Plasma 5 energy
module I have the 3 canonical power profiles (performance, balanced, and
power-saver) available, and I can switch between them.

In Plasma 6 in Konsole I get:

powerprofilesctl list
  balanced:
Driver: placeholder

  power-saver:
Driver: placeholder

as well, but if I hit Meta+B I can switch to another power profile (this is
confirmed by powerprofilesctl get).

So I think I should have these profiles somehow here as well. Or am I'm going
wrong?

Summary: It's possible to assign a sound notification without
choosing any sound file
Classification: Applications
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.27.7
  Platform: openSUSE

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_notify

SUMMARY
***
Please, see title

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Can confirm: it occours on my "normal" Neon Unstable as well.

I found this workaround:
- install pavucontrol;
- toggle notificatins volume on from there.

After that you'll be able to use this feature from KCM as aspected:
notifications volume can be muted or unmuted, and the slider can now be
dragged.

other apps? are there other file manager? Oh, wait, there is konqueror. I've
just installed and now I can confirm that this happens also on konqueror (if
you follow the same steps to reproduce it that I wrote before).
I'm not a developer and now i don't know the most appropriate category for this

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

BTW, I've never understood why the first tooltip is being displayed after a
certain delay, which is good, but the next ones are displayed immediately. This
causes many tooltips which pops here and there, and it's annoying.

I would also like to see (and would use) an option to show subcategories. For
example, I find the "Education" category much more organized with subcategories
("Languages", ...). Also, as petrk has said, softwares like LSP Plugins
(required by EasyEffects) add a lot (100+) of menu entries that make the menu
too difficult to navigate. Please consider including the option - even if
disabled by default, it would make the life of some of us much easier!
