be there is a
definition out there regarding what qualifies... the more stringent being
"the
maximum weight to wing span squared can not exceed 3.0 kg/m2 (0.62

All details are outlined in Advisory Circular 21.17-2A.

I checked on 21.17-2A. If you look at the introduction, it is an advisory
for "certification" of gliders and motor gliders.

want to be on the wrong end of somebody's mishap flying when they should not

It's my understanding that the FAA say's that your aircraft is what you say
it is. If you call it a powered glider you can fly it without a medical. You

also can fly at any speed and at night. You do have to have a glider
endorsement on your ticket.

I lost my medical after a heart attack in 1993. I also cannot afford to jump
through the hoops every year. I also know my limitations and would not fly
if I were not in top shape. My flight doc. said that there was no reason
that I should not have my medical renewed so I took the physical and was
turned down. That eliminates me from getting a LSA.
I will register my aircraft as a motor glider and fly. I would like
someone to check the FAA's records and see if there was anyone that had a
second heart attack while flying or who had had a medical related crash
after getting a special use medical.

I never lost my medical nor should I, there is no rule that says I have to
surrender my medical only that I have to ground myself, per AOPA Aeromedical
Division. Since my heart attack I have been watching my diet and exercising and
am in better physical shape than I have been in 20 years. I just don't have the
money to have a stress test every year and loose my medical for 1 or 2 months
while waiting on the FAA to review my doctors report. I am fortunate that my
cardiologist is a pilot, the only one in the practice and friends with my flight
surgeon I will probably jump through all the hoops this year just so I can fly
until I get an LSA then let it laps after that.
In no way would I let my love of flight get in the way of sound judgment when
it comes to others. My attack happened while in flight at night with my
daughter and son-in-law on board. Neither of them have a clue how to fly. What
if I my heart had stopped while up there? 3/4 of the family gone all at one
time, I think of that every day.
As to building my KR to light sport rules, I thought about that a lot. my
chief concern is the fact that I already built it for the AS5046 wings. You
guys know better than me though. If someone could give me an idea of how much
longer I have to make the wings to get the stall speed down and slow the top
speed down I would appreciate it. I haven't installed my gear yet, maybe I
could go with tricycle gear to help the top speed? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Maybe I can keep my other child after all.
 Thanks in advance,
 John

Well guys, I hate to do it but I need to get rid of my KR2s. After I had
my heart attach last year I don't want to keep jumping through the FAA
stress test hoop every year to keep my medical.
 What I have is a Langford KR2S extended 14 inches with AS5046 Airfoils. I
bought the Wix kit when I started so most everything is there to finish the
Airframe plywood, both mahogany and birch spruce for outer wing spars foam
ETC. Currently she is in the boat stage with completed tail section. I have
also fabricated much of the control assemblies bell cranks as well as the
WAF which were CNC cut at a local shop. Landing gear attach fittings also
CNC cut and many many other items , to much to list here. I am keeping my 3
corvair cores for use in my future LSA homebuilt. All the parts and
assemblies are here at my shop in Cameron SC, if you would like to look at
them . I can also send any pictures you would like to see if you contact me
off list. I will not separate these parts, mainly because I will have to
remove a wall in my back room to get her out, so it's all or nothing. The
workmanship is excellent this would give someone a huge head start in
building there KR for about the cost of the basic kit. I really hate to give
her up, but it's time to move on to something low and slow.

Don't forget...you can extend the wings a foot or so each to drop the stall
speed to LSA-compliance , keep it light, name it something other than

Noel bought it. Not sure what it looks like now though.

KR> KR2S for sale

2008-10-12 Thread Ray Fuenzalida
Hello gang,
I have recently purchased a KR2S that is much further
along than the first one I purchased. So that means I
have a partial project that I don't need. Therefore I
am selling my first project. It is about 50%
completed so as they say, only 90% to go. It is a tri
gear and set up as a single seater. Pretty
interesting set up (such as pitot on the vertical
stabilizer). I have $1,800 into it and that is what I
am asking. Have all the paperwork from the builder I
got it from. Email me off line for additonal details
and photos. Can also bring them to the Gathering.
Thanks.

I notice it droped off at about 15 hours left on the contract, did you
sell it? on e-bay no one bits until the last 10 or 15 minutes, I think
you pulled it too soon unless you sold it and got the asking price.

KR> KR2S for sale

2008-10-12 Thread Dave Jeltema
there are pics here check them 2300.00 will get you everything ! except the
engines and redrive out Ebay Item number: 2493627202 here is a description!:

It comes with a full set of plans as well as a large box of documents on the
KR2.
All four spars are complete. I am including the fiberglass wingtips also as
seen in the pics
I also have on CD the newsletters since inception.
The canopy has the protection spray applied
The brake and runner pedals are moveable in all directions due to having
several threaded bolt backers installed.
It comes with an original interior set containing the two side panels, the
carpet, and the seat slings
The two wing tanks and the upper center tank are aluminum, sloshed, and
senders installed. The upper center has a flop tube for aerobatics my intent
was to have the wing tanks feed the center tank constantly. I have the
wiring diagram for that to happen.

Included also is all the fiberglass, epoxies you will need to finish, a lot
of spruce some foam and all the polytone to paint (white).
The rear horizontal stabilizer as well at the elevators, is built I don’t
have pictures yet its in my garage behind a lot of very heavy boxes. LoL!

As you can see you are getting a lot for your money the canopy and
rudder/brake setup, and fiberglass cost more! I am desperate for cash! So I
will need an answer very soon, My phone number is 616-887-2101 my cell is

KR> KR2S for sale

2008-10-12 Thread Brian Kraut
O.K. guys, this looks like a great deal. Fair warning - buy it before I do.
I only have two garages with a plane in each and I really don't have room
for a third until the Stang goes to the airport next month.

KR> KR2S for sale E-BAY also

2008-10-12 Thread Dave Jeltema

LoL!

I also have 2 subaru EA81 engines and a rotary airforce redrive for them for
sale!

As you can see you are getting a lot for your money the canopy and
rudder/brake setup, and fiberglass cost more! I am desperate for cash! My
phone number is 616-887-2101 my cell is 616-893-9332 feel free to call with
any questions!

the project is listed on e-bay! or e-mail me at partslocat...@msn.com for
all the pics and info

Thanks
Dave J

Thank You

KR> KR2S for sale and props

2008-10-12 Thread garya...@kwic.com
Contact magazine #77 had an ad for a KR2S project - I don't know if it
has been sold yet. Also a 3100cc - Big Boy Corvair and a Subaru 2.2L new
'crate' engine with new RFI direct drive and ground adjustable prop
 ( Richard Allen Email: r...@snowcrest.net ) .
Also in 'Contact' is a propeller 'story/discussion' by Paul Lipps
(Elippse Propeller) that might change some of your thinking about
propellers. This is not an ad for Contact; just noting another
information source

KR>KR2S For Sale

2008-10-12 Thread Jonnie Bradley
KR2S Tail Dragger project 95% completed. Dan Diehl landing gear,
Cleveland brakes, new zero-time Great Planes 2180 engine, firewall
forward complete. All brand new Westech instruments. Have all parts to
finish except paint. All work inspected by EAA tech rep. Reason
selling: After many years of construction all lay-ups completed and
aircraft on it's gear, the canopy windshield was the last item to put
in. After completeing that task on August 9, 2003, I find on August
10th, that I'm too tall to fit comfortably in the airplane. For sale or
trade for other tail-wheel aircraft. $20K invested, make offer.

There's a neat feature on the new list that allows me to fix it so that you
can RECEIVE mail from KRnet, but you can't POST any messages to the list.
This guy may be the first to find out how it works. Three posts within two
minutes, all of which were senseless. I sincerely hope it was his four
year-old...
