 Watched our goal (a few times) but rewound the tape (or whatever the technical 
jargon is these days) right  back to the foul on Klich - we had 13 passes in 
the move, most of it one touch stuff and much of it forward passing none of 
this keeping the ball for the sake of it a la Reading under Stam. It also shows 
how good the movement of the players is , running and making space for 
themselves, ready to receive the ball and lay it off - amazing and a real joy

 It may be a bit of a concern that they showed we had 17 shots( to Birminghams 
4 and lost) and had 25 shots last night with only two goals to show for it but 
we are without our two top strikers and if we keep on like this we will both 
win most games and give someone a real hammering - the day when it all goes 
right for us.
As you all say Bielsa is something else - the way he has the bulk of last 
seasons flops playing out of their skins is amazing. Who would believe that 
Phillips and Cooper to name but two could be such good footballers ? What was 
TC thinking blaming Klich for one mistake and then leaving him out of the team 
and getting rid for O'Kane ? He is real quality One thing MB does need to sort 
out is Saiz lack of goals - he seems to be totally shot shy this season, loads 
of time he will chose to pass rather than have a go. He is bringing the best 
out of his general play but seems to have lost goals from his games.
So 1 point from 2 games but we could easily have won both and there is

Agree pretty much 100%, however Alioski needs a couple of games on the bench, 
he's the most obvious weak point in the team ATM and would be better coming on 
later on in a game with fresh legs.  Maybe Klitch on the left and Forshaw in 
the middle, or take a punt on Dallas starting.  

One stat that was interesting is that we've scored 8 goals in the last 20 
minutes of games and conceded none, that again highlights the increased fitness 
of the players.  I'm still not sure that we aren't going to suffer burn out 
after xmas, but the way we play without some of our better players is positive.

was involved, first one he completely mishit with an open goal, luckily
Taylor was there to stick it in and for his goal he failed badly on a one on
one and was lucky to have the keepers parry bounce of his foot and into the
goal.  

What's the difference between 15 goals a season Becchio and 2 goals a season
Steve Morison, which makes one the worst ever striker to play for Leeds and
one the Player we need in this Division?  I think you might have them the
wrong way round  ;)

Again, I'm not disputing his tactical acumen or rigour in training. So we seem 
to be having a rather philosophical discussion about the nature of football.

Sure, his job is to win, and by and large he does that. But he seems to do it 
by spending €100m a year on dull, counter-attacking teams, buying established 
talent instead of bringing through youth players, never sticking around long 
enough to have to rejuvenate his ageing teams, and whinging like a little baby 
every time - eg Sunderland the other week - his team is beaten. 

If I was a billionaire oligarch who had lied and stolen my way into a fortune 
and wanted to think that I had won the European Cup, I'd probably hire him.

encapsulated by the dream team of The chosen one, Abramovich and their fans. 

But hey! Cardiff getting beaten and now almost certainly going down must have

The nature of football? Don't try and make things more complicated than they 
are. The nature of football is 11 men trying to score more goals than another 
11 in 90 minutes.

That Barca team was probably the best group of players to play at the same time 
at one club, ever. The same group finished behind Mourinho's Madrid the 
previous year (or the one before that - can't remember). 

Also, I think their style of ticky-taki can be dull and is extremely 
ineffective when employed with less talented players (see Arsenal). Would much 
prefer to watch Mourinho-style organised defence with lethal counter attacking 
myself, fascinating to watch. Hodgson could do with getting England to play 
like it - we might actually have a chance in Brazil if he did because we 
certainly don't have one trying to play expansive, attacking football.

He won the European Cup, Serie A and Scudetto with an Inter team that had 
finished where the previous season? He won the Champions League with Porto. 

As Matt points out, his players would run through brick walls for him, he is a 
master tactician and expert psychologist. I'd probably hire him too - because 
he is the best.

I think the last sentence betrays you - I agree with the sentiments but that's 
a separate issue from 'is Mourinho a great manager?'

Of course. And the nature of being a striker is to score goals. And this list 
has been consistent in heaping praise on strikers who, despite being limited,

I don't disagree that it can be dull. But I simply wouldn't prefer to watch 
Mourinho's sides, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that.

I think what he does has very little to do with football, is the thing. 
Brilliant organiser, brilliant motivator, luxurious hair, he could be a great 
FTSE CEO. But he doesn't improve players, he doesn't spot talent, doesn't 
nurture, and puts out teams that make me want to cancel my Sky subscription. 

If he'd been boss of Man Utd, he'd have kept Kanchelskis and sold Beckham.

I'm just shocked by the amount of love on this list for an apparently appalling 
human being who doesn't play for Leeds.

If you think Chelsea's performance today was terrible then you're blind. Kalas 
was incredible in midfield and he can't get in their team.

Reduced Gerrard and co to looking like Leeds on the attack. High balls, long 
shots, they didn't have a clue. Chelsea were on a different planet.

- although we won games with 40%. 

Chelsea players must be machines to do all that running. Wouldn't surprise me

And another point, Chelsea are one of the top scorers in the league. Horses for

But that's just it. I wouldn't pay money to watch two teams play like Chelsea 
did unless I had a pre-existing emotional attachment to them. There's no law 
forcing anyone to watch teams they don't support, and there's no law that says 
teams get points for aesthetics. It's not ice dancing, it's football.

On the very rare occasions I watch football on TV, I don't feel cheated if the 
teams aren't trying to entertain me. I feel cheated if they're not trying to 
win.

As rich says they had practically a whole team out. 

I have watched some shite arsenal games and also tedious barca games on sky. 
They are supposedly the model of this beautiful passing game. But that can be 
equally tedious. 

Chelsea did Liverpool in their heads before they kicked off. Mourinho is a 
genius.

I always hated Chelsea more than any other team in England. The
mid-nineties ManU had nothing on them.

Yet I would love them to win the Premier League and the European Cup this
year - and why? Because of Mourinho who is on the one hand the ultimate

I didn't see the Liverpool game, but after the A.M. game you can only see

Yes, to be fair that was impressive, to get that result with second-string 
has-beens and untested kids. I mean, they played like a starting XI that cost 
£110m to put together and had nearly 600 international caps between them! Great 
stuff.

Exactly. Yesterday was Rodgers' failure. He knew how Mourinho would set up. He 
didn't need to win. He could have put ten behind the ball himself - Chelsea 
needed the win. He played right into Mourinho's hands.

God help us all if so. He's returning to the mind numbing Italian football
of twenty years ago. 1-0 if you're lucky.
On the other hand our Italian is making the right noises and doing the
right things.
Emphasis on youth and appointing Carbone are good things.
His second round with McDermott is also fair and wise. How long this will
continue is to be seen .
