And if I stole the email address wood...@msn.com and spoofed it to send a
million spam emails, what could you do to stop it? As has been pointed out, a
list subscriber has been hacked and the legacyusergr...@legacuusers.com address
is being used in just such a manner. There is absolutely NOTHING that Legacy
or Millenia can do about something that does not originate from them or go
through their servers.

I use Gmail, but usually download my emaisl from there to Thunderbird, so
am not restricted by what you describe as the "clunky Gmail editor"

If it's a spooked address, no, you can't fix it unless you can find a way of
making the spammer stop using it.

I have one spammer who sends me (and [resumably other people) mail from my
own address. Fortunately it is a forwarding address, so one that I never send
mail FROM, and though I can't stop the messages from coming, I can
automatically delete them when mu mail is opened.

I received one.

The only reason I read it was that the subject was the same as that of
another mailing list I belong to.

Some have mentioned using Gmail, but that would entail using the clunky Gmail
editor. I stopped using it when it became so difficult to use.

And the headers of the spam message suggest that it may have come from Gmail
in the first place:

For anyone using outlook.com, you don't have to mark it as spam:

Click on the email.
Click on the down arrow beside Junk
Click on "My friend's been hacked!"

You may get several more that are already in the pipeline, but after that (I
deleted 2076) you should get no more.

Legitimate emails from legacyusergroup still come through.

How? The messages are NOT coming from the Legacy mail server. They're coming

If I was actually receiving the messages, I would set up a filter that would
automatically delete them as they arrived. Fortunately, Gmail is identifying
them as spam and dumping them. All other messages are arriving in my Tbird
reader as I would expect. I just need to go directly into Gmail every now and

Re: [LegacyUG] Mail addresses compromised?

2016-06-21 Thread Brian L. Lightfoot
There probably is nothing that Legacy can do about it. The problem is not on
their mail list server but rather it’s the bad person that is spoofing the
“From” address in the mail header and most likely has found a server somewhere
that is set up as an open-relay. This is how they can dump 10 million emails in
a single day. Eventually it goes away in a day or two or three. It’s only a
problem for those people who purchased discount keyboards that lack a delete
key. If you’d like, I can send you an email that appears to be from Bill Gates
at Microsoft and indicates that you just won $10 million in the Lottery.

[LegacyUG] Showing marriage tags

2016-06-21 Thread Linda Greethurst
Is there a way to show the MARRIAGE tags in the marriage list instead of
the INDIVIDUAL tags?

In fact, I can't see anywhere that you can view the marriage tags except to
go into each person's family group sheet. OK, bet I'm missing something
simple. Please help.

Over the last few days, I have been getting lots of e-mails, apparently from
legacyusergroup, all junk mail. In a period of just three minutes today, I have
received 945! They clearly have nothing to do with Legacy or legacy groups. Has
anyone else been experiencing this or similar? The address is one I only use
for reputable mailing lists like this, so I wonder if there has been some kind
of compromising going on, and felt it might be worth mentioning here.

Kind regards,Alex

Re: [LegacyUG] Print citations for individual?

2016-06-21 Thread Monique Riley
Jean,

You will want to print an Individual Chart. Go to Reports>Chart Reports>
Individual Charts.

Then select the Report Options and the bottom and deselect everything you don't
want, but on the Sources tab check "print source citations" and uncheck
"include on a new page". That should get you what you want.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Print citations for individual?

I'd like to create a report, for an individual, of all the sources citations
I've added. I don't want a family group sheet. Just the person's name and RIN
at the top of the report, followed by a list of all the source citations for
that person. I don't want to see the event the sources are linked to, just the
citation itself.

I've tried to solve this via a combination of find/search filters, tagging, and
various report types, to no avail. Has anyone cracked this nut?

Thanks,
Jean Suplick

Re: [LegacyUG] Date on Family Sheet

Thanks I'll check that!

Willie,
Then you need to properly change the Label options in Family View. It
sounds as if you'd chosen something else for the Birth Date/Place and
you've just changed the Display name back to birth rather than re
choosing the right Field Name.

Click on a label and choose customise.
Then on the line you want Birth information click the 3 dots button
and choose Birth Date/Place.

OR just click on the Defaults button to get all the Default labels back.

Does that help? I am assuming that the birth dates aren't showing for
anyone.

Just a thought - if nothing is showing up in that rectangle in Family
View - no death dates either, have you been playing with colours so
that the text is the same colour as the background?

Willie,

You still haven't clarified whether you mean the Family View in
Legacy or a Family Group Report.

I know you posted -that's exactly my problem - but I don't know who
you were responding to.

Thanks to all who helped me with the CS. I got that fixed but now I've
entered the date as I usually did and then returned to the family
sheet and it doesn't show. I am such a dummy! Help please?
