Re: [LegacyUG] Size of file

2016-05-23 Thread Jairmie French
File size is not just the amount of people in your file. If you believe
your file is to big because of additions/deletions then run a file>file
maintenance>check/repair on your file (do this twice). Then run a
file>file maintenance>compact file. This will remove anything not supposed
to be in your file.

Please keep in mind that sources, notes, etc all play into your file size.
I have seen customers with 300,000 people in their file over 1.3 GB's and I
have seen customers with over a million people with just shy of a Gig. The
big difference was that the 1.3 GB file had over 3 million sources and the
other one had little to no source material.

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Version 8

2016-01-22 Thread Jairmie French
Bill,

Yes you can install the free version Legacy 8 to a second computer and then
use your name and customer number to unlock the deluxe features. You can
download the free version from the following site:

http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadLegacy.asp

You can find your customer number in your program on your old computer by
going to file>file properties.

Re: [LegacyUG] LFT under Linux?

2015-11-06 Thread Jairmie French
I personally used Windows 7 for the longest time. It was by far my
favorite OS. When I was forced to move to 8 I did not like it but now that
I am using 10 I love it (it feels like 7). I do not know if you have given
10 a try but I suggest that you try it. Legacy works well on Windows 10
and if you do run into any issues with Windows 10 and Legacy we urge you to
contact us at support and we will be more than happy to walk you through
the issue.
