[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44982] EasyHack: add helper method to sal's File abstraction
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44982 --- Comment #8 from Michael Meeks michael.me...@novell.com 2012-03-09 02:34:50 PST --- yep - it's sad that the interface has to have this unfortunate 'isLink' ambiguity that rather complicates symlinked situations, at least the getLinkTargetURL() is a fully resolved path for this case - ie. following all the symlinks down to the bottom via 'realpath'. Which makes me wonder - why do we have salhelper/inc/salhelper/LinkResolver - which is substantially un-used, and un-necessary for Unix [ cf. the above ]. I'd be eager to bin / deprecate / write-that out. The isDirectory method creates the obvious cleanup in basic/ eg. of removing: basic/source/runtime/methods.cxx-static inline sal_Bool isFolder( FileStatus::Type aType ) But - of course isDirectory is also imprecise in this case, so all this code breaks for symlinked directories as well as symlinked files :-) git grep 'FileStatus.*Link' | nl shows we have only 43 sites checking for and handling Links properly of which 20 are in sal unit tests ;-) git grep 'getFileStatus' | nl shows 187 hits (100 in sal) ... so - in general we get link handling wrong it seems in a large majority of cases. So - we should fix this by default in our API. IMHO Link handling is a minority use-case, primarily useful on writing files - to make sure we get the semantics of unlink-replace vs. write-through-link right. But of course we do a lot more reading than writing, and ~all directory / file traversing code is broken. Ergo - I think we need to tweak getFileStatus to do a better job by default. I'll attach a patch; I think we need to go around checking each of those 87+ getFileStatus calls, to see if they are non-link-handling, and add a 'true' parameter if they are not. Then (I guess) we don't need to worry about the Link type being returned it never will be. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37625] Don`t show a grid/Borders in Calc are not affected from Basic
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37625 --- Comment #11 from Noel Power nopo...@novell.com 2012-03-09 03:13:33 PST --- oBorder = CellRange.BottomBorder With oBorder .Color = 0 .InnerLineWidth = 10 .OuterLineWidth = 0 .LineDistance = 0 End With CellRange.BottomBorder = oBorder the pattern above should work fine, oBorder is a copy of that css:table::BorderLine structure. And CellRange.BottomBorder = oBorder will set the BottomBorder property of the CellRange object. Infact I just slapped a debugger on the calc uno object, it does get the correct values from basic. So... this aint a basic problem but a calc uno object problem, not sure if this really is a regression, if this was reproducible in LibO 3.2 rc1 then I would strongly guess this is inherited from the old openoffice code. But... whatever it still is imo a bad bug ( I'll have a look at the calc code to see if anything jumps out as been awfully wrong ) note: it sortof mentioned in the some of the previous comments that modifying a member of a structure directly doesn't work. e.g even if CellRange.BottomBorder = oBorder worked correctly then CellRange.BottomBorder.InnerLineWidth = 10 will never work. This is not a limitation of Basic but rather down to UNO. CellRange has a property BottomBorder which is struct. Structures in UNO are returned by value, the line 'CellRange.BottomBorder.InnerLineWidth = 10' modifies the the returned ( maybe temporary is a better term ) structure -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

CTL support is ESSENTIAL for users of RTL languages like Hebrew, Arabic, but it's not active by default, and many users don't know how to activate it. I think one good solution is to look for keyboard layouts in the system. If LO finds keyboard layouts of certain languages, it will activate support for CTL. Now the question is, is there any way in LibreOffice to find keyboard layouts installed on the system? I know that this is very OS-specific, but I hope something is already written for that. If yes, then this fix can be easily implemented. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47036] Error in rendering of .docx and .rtf files which were previously OK in LibO 3.4.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47036 --- Comment #2 from Michael mkh...@gmail.com 2012-03-09 03:55:59 PST --- (In reply to comment #1) Looks pretty broken in 3.4 for me too. Could you attach a reference picture showing what you expect (e.g. what you did see in 3.4, but not anymore in 3.5)? Previous LibO 3.4.5 was very much better than current 3.5 with the good placement positioning of Table objects, but object height truncated for the bigger fonts items. Current 3.5 made a total mess of Table objects position on the page. The .doc/.rtf files were generated by some Crystal report engine and can be used in M$ Word perfectly positioned. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46716] Some formulas are lost by DOCX import filter.
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46716 --- Comment #18 from ape os...@yandex.ru 2012-03-09 04:40:39 PST --- (In reply to comment #17) I know that there is a bug that it does not read many pages. It is being solved as the bug #36982, so we do not need to have opened this bug because of it. Or do you think that the pages here are not read because of different reason? Yes, I think it's different errors. I think that there is an error opening the file in the algorithm. LibreOffice_Writer determined that some kind of formula is longer than the width of the page. Then it begins to open the file, creating a temporary ODT (in fact, not by name): - LibO_Writer (Windows OS) stops when it sees the type of OLE-object as formula; - It ignores the long formula in Linux (no AltLinux-6) and creates an empty space. This specific work is the result of differences in operating systems. - It does not help that MinGW build loads the page correctly. We do not use MinGW for producing the release build. So this information is interesting but it does not say anything about how old the bug is. Need to compile a separate RC3 (Win_x86 only). Windows OS users will believe the program again in this case only. LibO-3.5.1RC2_Win_x86 is not necessary for the Windows user such that it is now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

After debugging for a while I could see no problem, then I noticed after moving the cursor the borders where in fact changed :-) the cursor which formed the selection the macro acted upon ) obscured the small increase ( for me at least ) of the changes to the linesize made by the macro. Anyway I came back for a final look to just recheck and this time I used the oBorder = CellRange.bottomBorder With oBorder .Color = 0 .InnerLineWidth = 10 .OuterLineWidth = 0 .LineDistance = 0 End With approach an noticed that indeed I wasn't getting any changes :-/ Turns out that the problem here is that CellRange.bottomBorder now returns http://api.libreoffice.org/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/table/BorderLine2.html so the LineWidth there is picked up from 'oBorder = CellRange.bottomBorder' and it's value overwrites whatever changes were made to 'InnerLineWidth' etc. hope that makes sense -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I use this on a daily basis in production, I'm up to speed with the gotcha's and have work arounds as I do now, however first impressions mean a lot, I'd hate someone to walk away from the software based on a glitch... On this machine, LO is slow, so anything that makes it noticeably slower hits me in the face straightaway and I just don't see that with the file you posted. Alex If you load the file, go to forms and open invoice, use record browser and move forward and reverse - in my case, the grand total takes a few seconds to update - if I roll back to 3.4.5 its immediate. If your not experiencing this at all, perhaps its the debian distro - however I cannot imagine that being the case, I can fire up an old box and slam another disto as a test. The file posted here has only a few records, the production file I use has well over 5000, however that makes no difference with this issue, no matter how many records - it hangs a few seconds. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47149] New: EDITING Dutch postal codes containing AM or PM are interpreted as time formats
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47149 Bug #: 47149 Summary: EDITING Dutch postal codes containing AM or PM are interpreted as time formats Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Spreadsheet AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: stephanv...@gmail.com Dutch postal codes comprise of four digits followed by two characters. In Libre Office these postal codes are routinely mistaken for time formats when they end with AM or PM. How to reproduce: - Enter a dutch postal code ending with AM or PM (e.g. 5401 AM) in a cell. Expected behaviour: - The cell will display 5401 AM. Actual behaviour: - The cell will display 5401:00:00, some kind of time format. Note that in the Netherlands 24-hour time formats are used, without AM or PM. Note also, that any valid time entry using AM or PM will use a number = 12, and certainly not a number = 1000 like in the Dutch postal codes. This behaviour occurs was observed in several places in Libre Office, not just in Calc: 1: Entering a postal code in a cell in Calc See example above. 2: Entering a postal code in a table in Writer, when Number Recognition is on. The error is not immediately obvious here, but including these cells in ranges e.g. for sums will produce unexpected results 3: Importing data from CSV files into Calc Workarounds exist in this case, but most Dutch users will be unaware of the problem and the workaround. 4: Importing data from CSV files for a mail merge into Writer In the main menu, in the dialog under Insert | Fields | Other, CSV files can be added as a database source in the tab Database. LO uses the first line / record to try and automatically determine the data types of the fields in the CSV file. When that first line contains a postal code including AM or PM, things go wrong in the merge. There are workarounds for this, but most Dutch users will be unaware of this problem buried deep inside LO. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

The difference being 3.4.4 came with the Ubuntu install, when I first opened it, agreed I could hardly tell the difference because everything was slow, and the subform was as slow as the entire application, when I uninstalled / purged / rm'd .lib* config files, reloaded 3.5.0, its obvious everything is slow, however the subform grand total is much slower. I have labels from APPLI type 10636. 2 columns of 7 rows on 1 A4 page each labels is 105 mm wide and 40mm high. On the top and the bottom of the page there's white border of about 10mm I managed to created labels for this before, but yesterday I just wouldn't work. LibreOffice 3.5 First of all the the page size is set 'user' instead of A4. It is not possible to set this before you click the 'new document' button. Instead of having 2 labels side by side. I got all my labels in 1 row on 2 different pages. It seems the labels in the right columns wouldn't fit on the page and were placed in the left column instead. There was some sort of invisible 5mm border on the right side of the page that I'm not allowed to use. After some fiddling with the page size and the margins and the size of the labels I finally managed to get a page with 2 column of labels. I would be 99% sure what you think you are sending in the previous example is really what is sent but just writer doesn't like it or it doesn't do what you expect. -Sub TMP3() this one sounds like a real bug, looking at where it fails in basic it seems that the Variable type for TableBorder seems to marked as empty it should be Object, at a wild guess this is probably because although TableBorder has been evaluated it actually hasn't already called the associated uno method ( there is a lazy invoke type thing that basic does ) so it actually doesn't know what the real type is yet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Extract from the spec[1]: A list of strings which may be used in addition to other metadata to describe this entry. This can be useful e.g. to facilitate searching through entries. This entry is used, for example, by Unity (Ubuntu default desktop) to find apps that the user search in a semantic way. Here is my proposal (think as if user search $keyword, he should find $app): Writer: odt;docx;Text;Letter;CV; Calc: ods;xls;xlsx;Accounting;Stats;Chart; Impress: odp;ppt;pptx;Slide;Slideshow;Presentation; Draw: odg;Vector;Schema;Diagram; Math: Equation; Base: Data; It would also be cool to add words such as Excel, PowerPoint, etc. because they became kind of common nouns for some people. We may also add Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. to Base. But I don't know if it is doable because these words are trademarked. There is a workaround : Define your labels (hor.distance=width=10.5cm, height=40mm, columns=2, rows=7) and create the document. Go to Format -Page, tab Page, set the right margin to 0.00cm and then set the format to A4. That should do the trick. Duh. I know, that is why I reported a bug: The user must intervene after step 5! Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. The actual bug (unexpected behavior) occurs after Step 5 5) ... Continue check at beginning of document. The words at the beginning of the document to be replaced automatically without user intervention are not replaced and the notification appears that The spellcheck is complete. The user must intervene and begin the spell check again! If you don't think this is a bug, try this in MS Word 2010 or, better yet, do a start a Search Replace in Writer in the middle of the text/document. Search for catt, replace with cat and select Replace all. EVERY instance of catt is automatically replaced without user intervention! The spell checker is expected to function just as Search Replace would for all entries. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 36427] A MS XML 2003 file cannot be saved in Calc
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36427 Greg gwood...@comcast.net changed: What|Removed |Added CC||gwood...@comcast.net --- Comment #10 from Greg gwood...@comcast.net 2012-03-09 14:09:25 PST --- I too am experiencing this bug. And probably the related long read times of 2003 XML, hang and sometimes crash of XML 2003 spreadsheet. It never crashes on load of an EXCEL generated spreadsheet. It can save the Excel generated spreadsheet once. But exit OO or LO and then re-load OO or LO calc and try to read the oo written file: a) sometimes, hangs and crashes b) sometimes, does not. But when does not, can't write the file XML 2003. Get the long wait then file IO write error, as previously described. Can write the file as ODT, and other formats. Seems the 2003 XML file by some seems out-dated or obsolete. Why we need it: 1) it is simple to parse using XML tools. If a very 'flat' low maintenance spreadsheet format. So the data in the file is accessible easily be simple easy to write tools. 2) is the only format that meets the crieria a), and is common with MS EXCEL. 3) the new formats, are quite a bit more work to parse, write tools to read the data in the files. Is there any progress being made on this issue. It seems to have been a problem since after OO 2.2, I think I saw a report of these bugs as far back as 2008. And a long line of disgruntled attempts to use it, and of course the format will fall in disuse if it dont work.
