I'd like to thank you for all the help and assistance in working through this problem log. I shall install this version on my other machine, running Ubuntu 12.04 as well, and I am guessing that the problem will be resolved there as well. Many thanks again! Much appreciated. The common help text (I do not know whether it's the same source) is Helplines While Moving, but for me a helpline is a telephone counselling service? The tasks here are: a) find the best word for those lines. To me the complete terms seems wrong. For example the lines only appear while dragging with mouse, but not while moving the object using arrow keys. So I would prefer Guides while dragging - but I'm not a native English speaker. b) unification We should have exactly the same text (and I think from the same source) in Daw, Impress, Writer, Calc ..., without differences while - when and similar c) help should be checked - currently inappropriate capitalization (see 'a') - Adaption to solution in UI d) icons In Impress and DRAW there is an 'Options' toolbar with an icon to switch those guides on/off, tooltip has to be checked. @Christian Dywan: unexpected use of a string or whatever? I saw no window of it. The version I have installed is 0.10.36. strace -e file -f ./soffice 21 | grep gst # and add the video I have attached a log with the output of this command. I was trying to add the OpenBSD5.1 song to a new presentation. But then it gives the error-message as told earlier. My build was from 17 oktober (commit: cf16c324c98e597517eff73b24234d78567b9db1). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51023] EDITING: Drag-and-drop slide always moves slide to first position, leading to data corruption and sometimes CRASH
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51023 --- Comment #56 from Boudry vincent.bou...@in2p3.fr --- (In reply to comment #53) I debugged this during the flight home and found out the root cause to the problem (but not how to fix it): On the Mac, all the drag-and-drop action happens during the call to pSlideSorterViewShell-StartDrag() in the Initialize method. Thus no wonder that mpDragAndDropContext is null in the ProcessDragEvent() as it has not been initialized yet, and is in fact initialised only after the drag-and-drop already has finished. I have a vague feeling that the same thing might happen on Windows, too, but will have to build me a fresh Windows build to verify. (I vaguely remember seeing something similar happening back in the days while working on the GTK port to Windows.) (probably not the best way to report but that's the occasion:) Now that this seems related to the drag and drop function on mac, there is another issue that has been annoying me on the mac version for quite a while (i.e. I think all 3.5 and 3.4 version are concerned): one should wait a while (~1 second) when moving a border of any shape to have the proper behavior. Otherwise a click on the handle and move immediately, the complete object is moved. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56739] New: LO gives non-informative error messages or loops the dialog when trying to open a Corrupted file

It I select yes, It gets a very abstract error message like Reading error (that could be much better). However, if I select to not recover the file, it gives a message like It was not possible to recover the file (but I didn't asked for it), and goes back to the dialog offering to recover the file. If the file is corrupted, and I say yes to the recovering, the error message should be a little more informative. If the file is corrupted, and I say no to the recovering, it should only cancel the operation and not say the recovering failed and even worse that it bounces back to the previous dialog. For a corrupted file example, just save a .docx file and rename it to .doc. In the last weeks, I've noticed a strange behaviour. Obviously LibreOffice (3.6.2.2 under Windows 7 Service Pack 1) defines automatically values for character styles. One example: I have the character style Emphased. Under the Organizer tab, you'll find at Contains the following information: bold + bold + bold. When I change the font color, it is added here correcly (RGB 197, 0, 11 + bold + bold + bold). When I click on the Font tab and change NOTHING (I only open the tab), the font size will be added automatically to Contains: RGB 197, 0, 11 + 11pt + bold + 11pt + bold + bold. In consequence, text marked as Emphased is always 11 pt, no matter if it's in a normal paragraph, a heading or a footnote. I am not able to delete or to reset the font size informations. In LO 3.3.0 Portable and in LO 3.4.3, this bug doesn't occure. The text is only red and bold, but font size depends on the paragraph style like it should. Have a nice day! [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56749] New: Formatting breaks when inserting formula in writer
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56749 Priority: medium Bug ID: 56749 Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Summary: Formatting breaks when inserting formula in writer Severity: normal Classification: Unclassified OS: Windows (All) Reporter: sjoekv...@hotmail.com Hardware: x86 (IA32) Status: UNCONFIRMED Version: 3.6.2.2 release Component: Writer Product: LibreOffice Hello, I'm using writer a lot to type formulas for university and just recently updated from 3.4 to 3.6 hoping it would not slow down over time while inserting formulas. The new problem in 3.6 is: I insert a formula and start typing. It gets evaluated on the fly as usual. When evaluation makes the formula object smaller, surrounding objects are not adapted to its smaller size. I end up having pages of empty space that was created during editing. Create two tables, one table with a foreignkey for the other. Link this tables with Tools → Relationships ... Put some data in both tables. → all this is prepared for everybody in the attachment. Create a query, which should show the content of both tables. In the example this is a query, which should show Names and the Classes for this Names. First use Create Query in Design View The Design View reads the relationships of the table. You could see this in the design. Execute the Query and count the rows - 6 rows in the example, because there are 6 Names in the table Name. Now Use Wizard to Create Query When you choose two tables, the wizard creates a query, which shows all combinations between the tables. Count the rows - 18 in the example, because there are 3 rows in the table Class and 6 rows in the table Name. 3*6=18. Have a look at the query. Try to edit it in SQL-View. The query has no condition defined in the WHERE-clause. This wizard in unusable for all queries, which should show data of more than one field. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41652] NO-BREAK SPACE (U+00A0) interpreted as fixed-width space
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41652 --- Comment #14 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de --- (In reply to comment #13) We all more or less seem to agree that the rendering of U+00A0 as a fixed-width space is basically a bug. Yes. But a special kind of bug: a bug which has been sanctioned by the fact that it has been in Microsoft’s applications since ages, and therefore is considered as some kind of “industry standard” by many people :-( Therefore it is a somewhat perverted situation that the bug cannot simply be fixed without paying attention to how the incorrect behaviour can also be preserved. Is it actually worth the trouble? IMHO we can not just fix this bug by rendering U+00A0 as a proportional space, because many people, probably: most (!) people will consider the new, proportional rendering as a bug and cry: “You don’t render my .doc files correctly anymore, fix this!” ... Therefore the simplest solution which improves typography in LibreOffice without breaking the (wrong) assumptions of many people is (as already suggested in comment #3) to let the user configure in Options/Writer/Compatibility how the classical “hard space” (U+00A0) should be rendered: fixed-width as in Word or proportional (as Unicode and many (most?!) textbooks about typography suggest). This option should work on a per-document base, of course. So all existing documents will look like before when we open it, but can be changed to the new, better rendering by just switching that option; and the same option will also control the behaviour of documents created anew. Adding that option should not be too difficult; I remember that similar additional compatibility options have been added in the past with relatively few lines of code ... Sorry for just repeating my initial suggestion, but IMHO all the other, more advanced stuff -- e.g. bigger spaces after a sentence-ending period -- are different items, for which we should file special enhancement requests, if necessary. The present bug report is already far too long and complicated -- no developer who is just looking for some work to be done will understand easily the many things we have been already discussing in this single bug report ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
