[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115445] New: UI: Small special characters box now hard to find
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115445 Bug ID: 115445 Summary: UI: Small special characters box now hard to find Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.0.2 rc Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: catbil...@gmail.com It was possible to open a small special character box in some earlier versions of Writer. I found that little box quite useful and applaud the designers for creating it. In those earlier versions, the special character symbol in the Standard toolbar had a small drop-down list where this small window could be selected. When I wanted to open the small window after updating to 6.0.0.2, I expected this option to still be there, but could not find it. I asked about this in the forum, and found that this option is now available only by adding a button to the toolbar. I am puzzled why the decisions were made to make this option less accessible and to use the identical icon for the button. There must be some rationale for the decisions, but it would certainly be easier to find this option if it could be directly available on the toolbar. If it is decided that this option should have its own button, it would be less confusing if a different icon could be used for the button. I am editing some user documentation and would like to let people know about this box. Accessing it would be easy to describe if it could be accessed directly on the toolbar. Otherwise, it might be too cumbersome. It would be helpful to have a sense of whether the round-about way of accessing it is likely to change in the near future. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115449] New: Add Tooltips to the Horizontal Ruler in Writer
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115449 Bug ID: 115449 Summary: Add Tooltips to the Horizontal Ruler in Writer Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.4.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: needsUXEval Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: librestep...@gmail.com There is an icon box to the left of the horizontal ruler. It shows a tab stop type. By repeatedly clicking on it, the user can cycle through the four types. I suggest adding a tooltip that at least identifies the type, such as “Left Tab”. Implementing the suggestion in the previous paragraph would not really explain the purpose of the icon box. Of course, a user could read the documentation. But perhaps we should consider a longer tooltip than just the tab stop type. For example, “Left tab. Click to cycle through the 4 tab types. Click on ruler to set the tab.” The example is 80 characters, which is long for a tooltip. It might make sense to show it on two lines. Icons marking the three paragraph indents are shown on the horizontal ruler: Left Indent, First Line Indent, and Right Indent. The tooltip for an indent is the position on the ruler, such as 0.5 ". I suggest that the tooltip also identify the indent type. A further refinement of the indent tooltips is possible. As an indent icon is being dragged, the tooltip would be displayed, with the indent’s position continuously updated in the tooltip. This would facilitate fine adjustments. As already mentioned, the tooltip for an indent icon is the position on the ruler. Tab stops on the ruler do not have a tooltip. I suggest that they show the position as a tooltip. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115445 V Stuart Footechanged: What|Removed |Added Keywords|needsUXEval | Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED CC||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu Resolution|--- |NOTABUG --- Comment #1 from V Stuart Foote --- The Special Character "Symbol" dialog was reworked for the 2017 GSOC. Rework included adjustment to the old dialog of .uno:InsertSymbol and a new .uno:CharmapControl dialog holding Favorites and Recent in the "small special character box" you describe. In UX review, the Favorites/Recent button dropdown button was deemed by UX & Design team not to be a viable replacement for the full function dialog and was replaced with the button control for the full dialog [1]. Both controls are assigned buttons on the Standard toolbar, but the new uno:CharmapCotnrol is not going to be shown on standard toolbar with default profile. Users can add it. And, likely additional work will see the two button actions merged into a split button. =-ref-= http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Minutes-from-the-design-meeting-2018-Jan-03-td4230149.html https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=490287a1b22411f4ac32127c93228e06dad4ff22 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115453] New: Confusion on the Impress Views Tab Bar: UI
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115453 Bug ID: 115453 Summary: Confusion on the Impress Views Tab Bar: UI Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: davidjudysm...@gmail.com Description: The Views Tab Bar has five tabs. Four of them (Normal, Outline, Notes, and Slide Sorter) show one or more slides in the open presentation. The other (now called Master Handout) is different, in that it doesn't show the handouts but rather the layout that will be applied to the handouts. Even worse, when that tab is selected, Impress is in "Master" mode, so selecting Normal opens the Slide Master, and selecting Notes opens the Notes Master. To get back to the Normal view of my slides requires that I know to choose View - Normal (same word, different action) or to click Close Master View on the Sidebar. (Slide Sorter is even stranger: it shows all of my slides, but if I double-click on one, it takes me to the Slide Master, not to the Normal View.) I find this confusing. Please consider either: * removing Handout Master from the Views Tab Bar; or * adding Slide Master and Notes Master to the Views Tab Bar, and changing the Normal and Notes tabs to return to non-Master views Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open or create a presentation with several slides. 2. If necessary, show the Views Tab Bar (View - Views Tab Bar). 3. Select the Notes tab to see the notes view of the selected slide, then select the Normal tab to see that slide in normal view. 4. Select the Master Handout tab. A diagram of the handout is shown. 5. Select the Normal tab. The Slide Master (not a slide) is shown. Actual Results: Normal and Notes tabs give different results, depending on whether Master Handout was selected first. A user encountering this for the first time might not know how to disable the Master view. Expected Results: I would prefer for the Normal tab to always show the normal view of a slide in my presentation, the Notes tab to always show the notes, etc. In order to see master slide, notes, etc., I want to select different tabs. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.132 Safari/537.36 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 114699] FileOpen Icons corrupted on HiDPI Display
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114699 bugzil...@cb-computerservice.at changed: What|Removed |Added Version|5.4.3.2 release |6.0.0.0.alpha0+ --- Comment #5 from bugzil...@cb-computerservice.at --- Issue still exists in 6.0 Release :( At least I could nail down the issue a bit. The problem seems to be a change in the LibO Code which takes the GUI-Icons out of the Theme-Zip-File (for example: images_tango.zip) extracts, scales and copies them to the cache-directory. In LibO until 5.4.4 this works (quiet) well. In LibO 6 there is a change that does two things: 1.) Icons that are 256 colors (as the mentioned FilOpen-Icons in Startpage) get corrupted. I'l add a zip containing two of those broken icons taken from the cache-directory). 2.) The changed routine also introduces badly image-scaling. Icons in 6.0 look uglier (a little bigger and a lot more jagged) than in 5.4.4. If I take the cached Icons from 5.4.4 and copy them over to the 6.0 cache, the gui looks the same as in 5.4.4, so its really just the way LibO 6 converts the icons from the zip to the cache. I'll also ad a comparison graphic that point out the difference in icon-conversion from 5.4.4 to 6.0. For testing, you need to clear the cache directory, start LibO, close all LibO-Instances, and open LibO again. Only than you will see the Icons "built" by the current LibO-Version. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115442] New: maximum number of consecutive hyphens not working
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115442 Bug ID: 115442 Summary: maximum number of consecutive hyphens not working Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.3.7.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: omarcibra...@yahoo.es Description: The system seems does not save when I put the "maximum number of consecutive hyphens" I modified the default style that I use and I put number 1 of "maximum number of consecutive hyphens" (I only use the default settings style) It works immediately when I do it, so t I save it properly. When I open the saved file the number of "maximum number of consecutive hyphens" goes back to "0" and so change all the text inside the file. There is not way to fix it in language setting because there is not that voice to mark. The program does not keep the number that I want to fix. I tried so many ways during 6 hours of research online even in Libreoffice Guide and nothing works. Help please! Actual Results: Open default setting style, Check the box of automatic hyphenation, Set the top line 3 and bottom line 2 (working correctly), Change maximum number of consecutive Hyphens set to 1(working correctly), Save as RTF. Open the file saved Maximum number of consecutive hyphens goes back in automatic to "0" and the text is totally unsaved as previous job looked in the screen Expected Results: Fix the problem Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I use Windows 10 on Asus portable pc. I save the file in RTF or DOC User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.132 Safari/537.36 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
