The classic projector needs its own set of classic xtras which you can
find in your "configuration/Cross Platform Resources/Classic MacOS"
folder.
They will need to be stored in a separate folder than your OS X xtras
because in some cases they bear the same name.

Classic projector problem

2004-09-15 Thread Teo Mattiozzi Petralia
Hello!
I'm working on a G5, running OSX 10.3.2. I'm trying to update a project
done several years ago using Director 5 or 6, using Director MX 2004.
All I have to do (I thought) is to open the .dir files with MX 2004 and
save them. (I have done that, and everything was all right).
Then I have opened the stub.dir file and try to publish it for OSX and
classic versions, but here the problem; as soon as the program start
(just the black screen of the stub file), it crash. This happen with
both projectors, OSX and classic, the only difference is that in
classic mode, there is a message coming up saying "There is an invalid
castmember [] in this movie" and then crash.
I have added to the xtra folder other xtras, between these the
quicktime xtras. After this the OSX projector is working fine but the
classic one is not.
Do I need a special Quicktime xtra to run the classic projector?

Any other idea about how to solve the problem?
Thanks
Teo

I actually have a fixed version but not expanded to all the new goodies in
FP 2, just makes all the Flash paper 1 stuff work in 2.0. If anyone is
interested, email me off list and I can send over a copy.

On os X:

The default creator code for textedit is the same as it was for simple
text - TEXT.
the file type is R*ch - peculiarly the same as for BBEdit files :/

Mac Creator & File Type Code for RTF files

2004-09-15 Thread Ross Clutterbuck
Hi List

One of these days I'll just buy a Mac and work all this out for myself but
until that day...

I'm capturing a user's progress through the troubleshooting application I'm
working on and I'm exporting that to a Rich Text document. However, the
application at some point may need to open this document directly.

PC-wise this is not a problem: just using baOpenFile() to open the document
with whatever application is associated with the .rtf extension (at the very
least Windows users will have Wordpad available).

However, when this runs on the Mac, I'm going to need to give my RTF file
Creator and File Type codes in order for the Finder to know what sort of
file it is, and thus which application baOpenFile() should use. From what
I've read so far if I use "" for the Creator code and "RTF_" for the
File Type code, the Finder should display a list of applications available
who can read RTF files. Is that correct?

I would perfer this to be a little more seamless i.e. just fires up a basic
RTF reader (MacOS's equivalent to Wordpad effectively - does SimpleText to
rich text?) and shows my file. In this case, if possible, what are the
Creator and File Type codes I need?

Thanks as always

Ross
