Re: Lyx Hebrew bugs?
Hi, I am not promising anything, but I want to look at the rtl code. In what source files is it? The names weren't too helpful, except Bidi.c :) These bugs in question would have to do with where to place a math equation when inside rtl mode, and how the cursor scrolls across an rtl portion of text. Also the figure captions display on the lyx screen. This used to be OK in 1.3.x By the way, floats inserted in RTL mode come out off page (sort of to the right of the page, outside the margins). A workaround is to insert them in an English paragraph. I tried to reply to you off-group but the mail failed. Miki Jos? Re: Lyx Hebrew bugs?
Hi, I am not promising anything, but I want to look at the rtl code. In what source files is it? The names weren't too helpful, except Bidi.c :) These bugs in question would have to do with where to place a math equation when inside rtl mode, and how the cursor scrolls "across" an rtl portion of text. Miki "Jos? Fedora will move to texlive and I'm looking forward to that - but I don't want to screw things up in the meantime. If anyone knows where to find a new babel.sty let me know. math background color doesn't change
i've just upgraded from lyx 1.3.5-xforms to lyx 1.4.3-qt and i find can't change the background color of equations like i'm used to. i can go to tools->preferences; look and feel->colors and change the colors. however, only changes that aren't to the math backgrounds are successful. the .lyx/preferences file reflects changes to "mathbg" and it is definitely being read when i fire up lyx, but nothing changes. does anyone know if this is a qt issue (like the annoying big operators one)? if anyone had a solution i would be very grateful. cheers, matt.

Well, debian's package descriptions don't explicitly list which versions of babel and amsart are used, but as far as I could see the difference between the "testing" version which I have been using, and the "unstable" version, which is newer, is only a minor-number version change. > > You might install texlive if the problem remains. The texlive packaging has > been reviewed before it entered Debian/etch in june, and texlive|tetex > have been made equivalent in LyX dependencies. Just installed it. This replaces the tetex distribution. texlive definitely fixes the problem, and it is also a screamingly fast-compiling tex. Very nice. Thanks for the suggestion. One page in landscape format
Hi all, I made a table in LyX which is now too wide to be printed in portrait. Putting just this page in landscape format would, I think, fix the issue. I tried the following (entered in the page I needed in landscape): \usepackage{lscape} \begin{landscape} Subsection bla. Table \end{landscape} But to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks, Koen

LyX and Mandriva 2007 X64
Hi all, If LyX is important to you, do NOT use Mandriva 2007 X64 (the 64 bit version). It comes without LyX, xforms, libXpm, and the necessary qt to compile LyX. After going through three or four levels of dependency, and not finding compatible source code, I erased the disk and installed Mandriva 2007 i586, the 32 bit version, which DOES have Lyx as a package. I guess that shows how important LyX is to my daily work. I cannot sell a single copy of my Troubleshooting Courseware, nor send out a single copy of my Ebook, without LyX. I can't author my books without LyX. So, I owe all of you a big Thank You. And, if you depend on LyX, skip Mandriva 2007 x64. Thanks, Ian First question: are these machines self-contained, or do users have their home directories on a remote server? (There have been two reports of this problem recently from people using remote servers.) Assuming that your home directories are stored on the machines, you might try opening a DOS shell and changing to the Resources folder under the LyX installation directory. There is a script 'configure.py' there. Try running it. (If you don't have the full Python installed and associated with .py file types, you will need to run 'python configure.py' or possibly '\python configure.py', where is the path to the copy of Python installed by LyX. In the event that doesn't work (it usually does), you should at least get some informative error messages in the DOS window. /Paul

Hi - How do I disable email notifications to this mailing list, and still continue to be a member? i.e. I would like to be post. The problem is that I'm subscribed to a lot of forums, and I cant afford to receive email notifications because my mail box is getting overwhelmed. Thanks, - Olumide
Re: email notifications
If you don't get messages, how do you propose to get responses to your questions? I don't know what email program you use, but most will allow you to set up filters to automatically handle incoming mail. I use Thunderbird, for example, and so I've set up a filter (Tools > Message Filters, or just right click on an email address in a message) that dumps messages sent or cc'd to lyx-users@lists.lyx.org into a LyX folder; messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] into the Yum folder; and so on and so forth. So if I don't have time to read them, I can delete them, or leave them for later, or what have you.
