RE: A couple of issues with 2.2: save failure, losing focus on compile

2016-08-31 Thread Joon Ro
Just to clarify #2, when you say "compile" you mean File > Export
(as opposed to View), correct? If you click the viewer button or use
the View menu to generate a PDF, LyX automatically opens the PDF in
the designated viewer program (intended behavior).

Paul

No, I'm sorry I should have been more clear what I meant. I'm
actually using "command-alternatives master-buffer-view pdf2; buffer-view
pdf2", which I have been using through a shortcut for a while (since LyX 2.1, I
believe).
I don't mind this when the pdf viewer opens for the first time, but currently
the window focus moves to the sumatrapdf whenever I press the shortcut to
update the document.I guess I should use update instead of view, but the
previous behavior (which I prefer, because I don't want to have separate
shortcuts for first time viewing and subsequent updating) was that the
documents gets updated without lyx losing its window focus, even if I use view.
Thank you!Joon

A couple of issues with 2.2: save failure, losing focus on compile

2016-08-31 Thread Joon Ro
Hi,
I have been using LyX 2.2.1 for a while, and I found the following two issues:
Saving a document frequently gives me an error saying that it failed to move
the temporary copy to the original one. I end up getting multiple temporary
files such as filename-aZ7872.lyxI'm using SumatraPDF as my pdf viewer, but
whenever I compile the pdf document LyX loses its focus and SumatraPDF gains
it. (it seems like an issue with sumatrapdf actually)
Any help in solving these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very
much.
Best Regards,Joon

RE: Paste becomes disabled after a while in Windows

While I still do not know the culprit of this problem, I think I have found a
workaround. Even when `paste` is disabled, `paste recent` is still active, so I
just binded ctrl+v to `paste 0` instead of `paste`. It seems to be working well
so far.

As Vincent said, we'd LOVE to have more information about this bug.
It seems to happen only on some machines, so may have something to
do with what other programs are running, and so forth. If you can
experiment at all along those lines, or even try to keep track of
what you did right before the problem arose, we'd really appreciate
it.

Richard
Will do - but do you know if this is a cross-platform issue or a
windows-specific one? I haven't had any luck pinpointing the culprit (or how to
replicate this), and it will be helpful to know if this is platform specific.

Paste becomes disabled after a while in Windows

2015-11-06 Thread Joon Ro

Hi,
I'm using LyX 2.1.4 in Windows 10 64bit, but I have had this issue for a while.
If LyX has been open for a while, suddenly paste stops working - it becomes
disabled. On the menu, the paste and paste special are greyed out, and only
paste recent is available.
I think this is related to
http://www.latex-community.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19=19635.

This happens to me (with all versions of lyx that I have been using so far)
when I leave the file in lyx open for too long (for days, for example). I
resolve it by simply shutting it off and then restarting. It is not a serious
problem.

I'm having the same issue - it is caused by lack of grouping for that
particular slide. It seems the frame environment need to encompass the
contents of the frame (you will see vertical grouping line on the left
side), otherwise the contents go to the next slide.

The problem is, when I make a new frame, I don't get that grouping - I have
been reusing (copy paste) previous frames with the grouping.

We are proud to announce the first public beta release of the new LyX 2.1
 series.

LyX 2.1.0beta1 is the culmination of two and half years of hard work.
This release is meant for testing before we actually release LyX 2.1.

An overview of the new features can be found here:
   http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/**NewInLyX21http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/NewInLyX21

You can download LyX 2.1.0beta1 from

 ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/**devel/lyx-2.1/lyx-2.1.0beta1/ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/devel/lyx-2.1/lyx-2.1.0beta1/
 .

We hope you will enjoy the result!

The file RELEASE-NOTES lists some known issues and problems compared
to the current stable releases (LyX 2.0.x). We strongly recommend that
packagers of LyX on various platforms and distributions read this file.

As with any major release, this one comes with lot of new features but
also some bugs. If you think you have found a bug in LyX 2.1.0beta1,
either email the LyX developers' mailing list (lyx-devel at lists.lyx.org
 ),
or open a bug report at
 http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/**BugTrackerHomehttp://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome
 .

If you have trouble using LyX or have a question, consult the
documentation that comes with LyX (under Help) and the LyX wiki, which you
will find at http://wiki.lyx.org/. You can also send email to the LyX
 users'
 list (lyx-users at lists.lyx.org).

 NOTE 1 (for Autotools users):
make check/distcheck still fails for this beta release. This means that
therewill be difficulties to install on platforms that require these checks
 to passbefore installing.

 NOTE 2 (for Linux/CMake users):
If some of the dependencies of the test suite are not satisfied, CMake
 might
not be able to generate the project files. To fix this problem, remove the
 following line from CMakeLists.txt:
   add_subdirectory(development/**autotests /autotests)

Beamer block environment title - do I have to use ERT?

2013-07-13 Thread Joon Ro
Hi,

I have looked around but have not been able to find a way to put a title on
a block environment without using ERT - for example, the example file in
http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg56080.html.

Is there a native way to do this? If I just input text next to Block: then
I end up getting only the first character titled.

Windows forward search - keep getting Please, preview the document first.

2013-06-22 Thread Joon Ro
Hi,

I do not have any problems with inverse search, but when I try the forward
search, LyX gives me Please, preview the document first. message even
though I have previewed the document by view- View [PDF (pdflatex)]. I
have tried many times but kept getting the message.

I have tried different options for Output - General - PDF command under
Forward search, but it does not make any difference.

I'm using LyX 2.0.6 under Windows 8 64bit.

Automatic math toolbar related

2011-09-06 Thread Joon Ro

Hi,

Firstly I placed the auto math toolbar on the bottom of my LyX window.
I found that when I edit math on the last line of document,
appearance/disappearance of auto math toolbar is noticeably slower than
when I edit other part of the screen. I guess this is because LyX needs to
adjust the screen so the last line is shown on the window. Whease when I
edit other part of the document, auto math toolbar simply covers the last
line of the document.

I was wondering if there is any way to disable this auto
appearance/disappearance behavior. I edit a document with a lot of math
and I wish I can just have the toolbar on all the time.

Thank you,
Joon

With the cursor _not_ in a math inset, go to the View Toolbars menu

Thank you,
Joon

With the cursor _not_ in a math inset, go to the View > Toolbars menu
and click
on "Math Panels (auto)", "Math (auto)" and any other toolbars you want
to lock
in the displayed position. Repeat the process if you decide you want to
return

them to automatic mode.

Re: Eq. (1), not Eq. 1

Hi,If you directly edit the .lyx file, you will see\begin_inset CommandInset refLatexCommand refreference "eq:1"\end_insetfor ref withoutparentheses, and\begin_inset CommandInset refLatexCommand eqrefreference "eq:1"\end_insetfor ref with parentheses. (ref - eqref)So if you don't want to change those manually, you can just open up the lyx file in a text editor and replace every "LatexCommand ref" with "LatexCommand eqref".Of course, to avoid replacing something you don't want, you will have to make the finding condition more restrictive (including the following line or using regular expressions).Hope this is helpful.-JoonOn Fri, 13 May 2011 11:20:56 -0500, Julio Rojas jcredbe...@gmail.com wrote:Up to mi knowledge, yes, you'll have to do it every time. Okular inverse search - automatically activate LyX

2011-03-22 Thread Joon Ro
Hi,It seems the inverse search from Okular only moves the cursor to the corresponding position in LyX, but it does not activate the LyX window. So I made the following script:lyxclient -g $1 $2wmctrl -a LyXsave it (here "/home/yourname/okular_inverse_search" for example), and in Configure Okular - Editor, select Custom Text Editor, and put the following:bash /home/yourname/okular_inverse_search %f %lNow when you shift-right click on a line in Okular, it will do inverse search and then activate LyX automatically.Of course, you have to havewmctrl installed.Hope this is useful to somebody. :)-Joon

Re: In openSUSE 11.4, scrolling in LyX RC1 very slow

2011-03-20 Thread Joon Ro

Thanks for the replies.

Regarding video drivers, I'm using intel graphics and did not do any
modification regarding xorg or graphic drivers.

I ran it through terminal as well, but there were no error message.

A couple of updates. Now I installed lyx 1.95rc1-2.3 from the
KDE:Unstable:Playground/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4 repo, and it feels
more responsive.

I need to use it more to be sure though.

One thing I noticed now is that maybe float tables were causing this.
LyX becomes slow when there is a table present on the screen.
So even in the same document, when I'm editing a part of the document
where there is no table visible in the lyx window, it is very responsive.
But if table is visible on the window not only scrolling but also typing
becomes slow.
If I click on float: Table button to collapse the table float, it becomes
faster again.

(I tried this with float: Figure as well but it seems float: Figure does
not affect this)

I'm using

\usepackage{multirow}
\usepackage{tabularx}

in the preamble.

Thank you,
Joon

Hi Joon.

Guessing: There have been changes in Xorg, and the detection system for
the display/keyboard/mouse/etc.

Could it be that 11.4 installed a video driver without acceleration?

(I'm a rather casual user of OpenSUSE, and I don't know how this is
managed there. However, I did have quite an encounter with the xorg
changes starting to depend on dbus)

Also, did you run LyX from a terminal to check if there isn't a load of
messages appearing?
