Unfortunately, no.
I always used the keyboard switch setup combined with ~/..XCompose,
otherwise the Cherokee keyboard is pretty much useless to me.

docbook export and underlined text?

Good afternoon/morning all,

I am using the docbook article class, and when I hit "preview" and it pulls
up in the web browser, the text I have marked as "underlined" is not
exported as underlined. Is this a bug or is this intentional ?

Using Lyx Version 2.0.1

Ubuntu upgrades have a tendency to reset your input module to whatever

epsdice package.

I am trying to use the epsdice package from inside LyX, and when I switch to
using xelatex as the formatting engine, the package malfunctions.

Instead of drawing a single die, it draws all 12 possible combinations of
dice on two lines. :(

Is there a working dice or dominoes or "grouped dots" package for xelatex ?
The document I am writing is in Cherokee, so xelatex is my only choice for
font reasons.

I am using xelatex mode with a Cherokee Glyphed set of fonts that
don't have all these extra chars as part of the font.
So.. I take it that I can't use any of these specials without pulling
my hair out?

I also tried the epsdice package, but when xelatex+system font mode is
active, it malfunctions and prints *all* the possible combinations of
die faces instead of just the once requested.  (that is to say, I
put in \epsdice{1}, and get a row of six white dice of all faces in
order...)

Are there any dice or dots packages that would be compatible with a
non-English setup like this?

The commenting restriction is strictly because of the PDF generator.
If you are using a software that can create commentable PDF's from a PS
file, the result you create should be commentable.

Not always.

I have a book that I always have to run LyX twice for the page numbers to be
correct in the PDF.

PDF: Sometimes wrong vs right page numbering issue.

Osiyo Nigada!

I have a LyX document that I have to preview twice in a row for the page
numbering to be correctly matched up between the PDF and the printed
document.

In a new session, on first view, I can be on printed page 63, but the PDF
page number is 65.
I close the preview PDF.
Without doing anything else, I hit preview PDF button in Lyx, I goto printed
page 63. Now PDF page number is also 63.

It seems like that LyX is not running Xelatex enough times.

Assistance appreciated.

I use the "problem" and "exercise" from the theorem's module only.

You can't use a covington example (from the linguistics module) with an

I am needing to use both the Theorem modules along with the Linguistic
modules and I get the following error when trying to include both:

 \newtheorem{example}

{Example}[chapter]

Your command was ignored.

Type I   to replace it with another command,

or  to continue without it.

Try renaming it with '.doc' as the extension to try and trick word into
properly importing it... or try openoffice followed up by save as word doc.

One of our initial goals was to try and maintain an easy to edit file format
should the internal customers need to "tweak" any of the outputs.

The ones who would be doing the editing are less than technically inclined.

Don't know what a send-to-pipe is (no such command found via locate), but,
these
are lyx files that are generated on demand by PHP then immediately converted
to PDF for download.

FYI: these are being run in a headless environment, no X.

Extreme speed difference between 1.4.5.1 and 1.6.8

Greetings one and all...

This is a question about an extreme speed difference between 1.4.5.1 and
1.6.8

We currently are using LyX 1.4.5.1 in production for semi-automatic pdf
booklet generation for an in-house product and while testing the newer LyX
1.6.8 on a newer system have run into a very noticeable timing difference:

Old LyX, -e pdf2: ~ 53 seconds, multiple runs, timed using /usr/bin/time -p
New LyX, -e pdf2:  ~ 78 seconds, multiple runs, timed using /usr/bin/time -p

If I export to pdflatex, then run pdflatex, these are the associated
pdflatex timings:

Old pdflatex: ~ 13 seconds, multiple runs, timed using /usr/bin/time -p
New pdflatex: ~ 8 seconds, multiple runs, timed using /usr/bin/time -p

Thoughts as to why this is happening? Is there something wrong with the
stock LyX build from RedHat/Epel ?

We are using Lyx for automatically formated PDF creation at my job.
We ended up putty \begin{sloppy} at the very beginning of the document, and
closing off with \end{sloppy} as the very last thing.
It seems rather strange for the default behavior of latex to have text
over-run the margins (IMHO)

According to the package I have to put in a 'transition' command to put the
fonts back to what I need for the regular document.

I have tired

and others, but always comes up with errors...
what ERT would you use to select the 'default' font as set by LyX ?

supported language.

Is there a way to specify a generic UNICODE-RANGE -> FONT(s) mapping?

This way any language could be supported without needing explicit named

I would much prefer to use the standard fonts for everything except Cherokee
UNICODE, at which point I need to use:

   - Normal Cherokee: Digohweli
   - Bold Cherokee: Aboriginal Serif or fake bold Digohweli
   - Italic Cherokee: Aboriginal Sans or a fake italic Dighweli

What is it?
  --

fontwrap is a package for XeLaTeX to automatically
wrap multilingual utf8 encoded text in approriate
font tags, issuing fontspec commands whenever text
switches from one unicode block to another. As most
of us use TeX in order to separate visual styling

package removes the need to add fonttags all over
the place when writing multilingual documents.

If you are trying to protect yourself, you need to use PDFTK after creation
of said PDF to "lock it" against printing, copying, etc.

By default, lyx.exe is not in your path... you will have to put the full
"%programfiles%\lyx\bin\lyx.exe" in quotes on the command prompt (or some
variation thereof)

is there a way to mark tables to be converted into a graphical embed version
instead of "e-reader flowable" text?

I am trying to convert a XeTex based document into epub format via calibre,
but the tables get whacked. I was thinking that if the tables were put into
the destination PDF from LyX as a graphic and not as placed text, it might
mitigate this.

This is not something I would want to normally do, but trying to convert to
this UTF8 thing I have into epub has become a bit of a hassle.

I tried the eLyXer -> xhtml (&html4) -> import as xhtml in calibre route,
but there are LOTS of tags that fail validation

I found the source of my problem, the ABC package appears to somehow be
requesting the times bold font... removing all ABC embeds eliminated the
references to times bold. LULU is now happy with my PDF.

Actually the only fonts I am using are 'Digohweli', 'Aborginal Serif', and
'Aboriginal Sans' so I was definitely surprised by Lulu asking me for
the Times font I will try and Google for XeTeX font embedding
information. Or maybe just put in a 'Times' segment in somewhere to maybe
trigger embed...

I had to add '-shell-escape' to the conversion command line... but... it 
won't work in a table cell ?

You have to tell it otherwise. Try Edit>Text Properties>Custom>Language
(or M-x language , if the desired language is supported

Not out of the box. However, you can bind a key to a command-sequence
setting both, language and font.

Bleck, Would like to be able to specify Digohweli for the Cherokee 
unicode, it has all the glyphs needed for Roman lettering, but doesn't 
have bold, italic, slanted, etc.

I have a dual language document, that lyx thinks is all English.

I it a combination of Cherokee and English. Is there a way to tell LyX 
or XeTeX to change font used by another language?
How do I tell it the unicode range for Cherokee is another language? 
Spell check really sucks when English is applied to Cherokee. :)

database exports using PHP and Bash is very important to me. RAD for

"Drag and drop" text is one the most annoying things I have found with
word processors.
It is too easy to do it by accident, not notice, and output garbage for
people to read.

I concur, I usually end up turning OFF auto-correct.
If someone is looking for a feature like this, maybe have it along the
lines of the inline spell checker and have squiggles marking potentially
bad words.

I am not aware of any way of changing it on the fly, but you can set the
default zoom by going to Tools -> Preferences -> Screen Fonts. Adjust
the Zoom # and Screen DPI calculations.

After experimenting

If one installs the full MiKTeX, before installing the LyX full/alt
installer, the issue with the German hyphenations causing errors,
doesn't seem to occur. This implies that the bundled MiKTeX with the LyX
alt installer isn't installing correctly or is missing a needed package.

Go into MikTex Settings and uncheck all the German Hyphenations.
Then click on the RFNB button.

... There are more complex commands which will let you insert things in
the upper left on odd numbered pages, etc., but we will refer you to the
fancyhdr package documentation for more information. (Find the file
fancyhdr.dvi.)

As a final example, it is possible to include an image in the header or
footer. Suppose you want to put a company logo in the upper lefthand
corner. You might try something like

\lhead{\resizebox{1in}{!}{\includegraphics{logo.eps}}}

(you may need to preface this with \usepackage{graphics} if you don't
include graphics elsewhere in your document) ...

What about creating a watermark as a PDF, sized correctly, then using
the watermark package to have it on every page?
