Re: cubase accsessability?
Not used Cubase for years, Sonar is a very good accessible audio app on Windows. Until losing my sight earlier this year, I used Logic Studio 9 and now its just sitting there collecting dust. I loved that software, really hope Apple make it accessible in a future update. I have been looking for a accessible pattern based sequencer such as Fruity Loops for Windows but sadly there are no plans to bring that to the Mac as it is written in Delphi. I thought renoise might be the answer as I used to use OctaMED on the Amiga years ago and it is a tracker program like that, but apparently that is not accessible either. I think pattern based recording software is perfect for creating dance music. Does anyone know if Ableton Live is accessible for the mac? Re: MacBook Pro battery
The battery issue when you first turn it on it says calculating, and it depends on many thingsmainly if the screen is off and if you aren't using bluetooth then turn blue tooth off by pressing VO m twice and arrowing right to the bluetooth menu. sometimes it just takes some time for the battery to kick in. I got my new macbook pro last night and this morning it read 15 hours. On Jun 25, 2010, at 8:33 AM, James Gallagher wrote: Hello all. windows7 and bootcamp
Hi Can you install windows7 without sighted help using bootcamp? Is it pretty easy to do? And lets say in the future apple comes out with another OS and I buy it, will I erase the windows7 installed via bootcamp and have to reinstall it? or does the mac let your windows7 partition alone? When I'm done with school and have a decent job I think I'll switch me, my wife and when my son gets older if I like the mac, I think I really will, anyway when I got the money I want to switch us all over to macbook pro's. Hopefully I can get a state job working for voc rehab as an assistive technology trainer and that includes recommending macs for people in pennsylvania. RE: MacBook Pro battery
The display showing the time remaining in the battery is only an estimate, and is based off of the power that is being used at that instant. For example, you're reading a file, and your computer shows that you have an hour left. Now you start a sync of a lot of files with your iPhone, and the battery might show only 3 hours left. When the sync is finished, that time will jump back up to almost 6 hours again. If you'd like, you can change the battery meter so that it displays the percentage of the charge remaining in the battery, rather than attempting to estimate how long that charge will last. Re: Answering a few questions about Daisy Bookworm for iPhone
Hi, I personally would find that of little concern. It would just be 1 less thing to carry and 1 less thing to spend money on. Those things out way a 15 hour battery life in my opinion. It's kind of silly to compare. The iPhone does more so should have lower battery time. And the IOS 4 update has fixed the standby bug so many people are having more than double the battery life than they had pre update. Re: Do you need a mixer to broadcast on a Mac?
I figured it out, you need to press shift m to check the mic, then you will hear VO say DJ has new window. then you go to your window chooser and find the mic window and press enter on it. you will then be in a window where all your settings for the mic are. Cyberduck free FTP client [was Re: ftp client]
Hi Cody, For a free, accessible FTP client, you might try looking at Cyberduck. Here's a recent version announcement from the Apple Downloads pages: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/cyberduck.html I don't use Cyberduck myself, but I know that some others do. Panic Software's Transmit is very good, if you can afford it, and as Allison suggested there is a 30-day free trial. Alternatively, as Maurice mentioned, if you're comfortable with working in Terminal instead of the GUI, you can use FTP or SFTP (which encrypts you login and data) from the command line. One trick if you're uploading files in Terminal from the Command line is that you can use the Finder to navigate to a file, then use the copy command (Command-C). When you are in Terminal and want to give the file to upload, you can simply paste with Command-V, and the full file path will appear. This is handy if you don't feel comfortable with navigating to the folder location of your file with the cd command in Terminal. You can just switch application windows with Command Tab between Terminal and Finder to do the copy and paste. HTH. Colun view, how to automatically read file size
I have a question on the views and the how much information the user receives when he navigates folders and files. I noticed that the icon and column view both provide the numbers of files selected and the name of the file when you press VO+F6. While the list and cover flow view provide the number of files selected, name of the file, date modified, file size and the type of file it is when you press the VO +f6. I have settle and liked the column view because it seems easy to navigate around with, and is intuitive, since it is the same method I used with windows, except they call it list view. I have enabled show file extensions thanks to the podcasts at blind cool tech so now I gee the number of files selected, name of file, and the file extension of the file I have selected with VO+F6. This is great but I would like to know the file size of the file without having to press the command + I to get the file information in a new dialog box. Does anyone know how I can get the file size information along with the number of files selected, name of the file and file extension when using column view? I know this is possible in windows and think this should be possible in the Mac, but I do not know if it is, or even how to do it. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. On another note, when using list view, why do I hear random date, when navigating my hard disk and folders? saytext: new OCR app for IPhone
Hi all, I just got this link from a friend of mine. Apparently, this app is free, and it performs OCR using the new IPhone. It's different from the one that emails your image to a server and then gives you back text. This one actually performs OCR on the phone. Furthermore, it automatically takes pictures once the camera is aligned with the center of the document. Check out this link for more information. http://www.docscannerapp.com/saytext/ Can someone let me know how it works? Re: Transferring stuff between Macks
Nope, if you share the public folder on the mac you want to share, by going to system preferences, sharing and check the on box for file sharing you can copy your files into your user names public folder and then you'll be able to see it on the other mac by going up to the finder emnu, the go menu and down to network. warning, doing this might blow up your network by dropping your connection. just kidding, but your connection might drop and you'll have to unplug your router and replug it back in. Yes macs come with firewire 800 but no firewire cables. unless you've got settings and applications you want to migrate for a new mac, then use file sharing foranything else you can do this wirelessly or probably via usb cable.
