Pndora and VO?
Is anyone using Pandora with VO? I use it on my iPhone with the limited vision I have without too much trouble However, i just went to Pandora on my Mac Mini, which I haven't done in a real long time, and I have real trouble getting anything to work there. first hour with DJ on ipad2
Hoya sonic heads, Dedication and persistance, constant messaging on the algoriddim forum have probably galvanized the developers of DJ to label all their buttons, as this confirms somewhat their interest in making all their applications accessible, and this purveys a lot of good news to come people. SO i have been testing DJ on my brand new ipad2, figuring where all the controls are on the virtual surface, which incidentally is a miniature version of a classic turntable deck, and after finding the track loading buttons on both turntables, i decided to give the it a spin, tryig out scratches and fading from one table to the other. Were i sighted, all of this would have been pure bliss. Being blind, this is like a game of battleship with a muffled sonar, but the experience is way better than before. The scratching can definetely be improved as the resolution isn't high standard, and a lot of buttons , mainly eq and effects racks, come out from a pop up once you tap on toggle alternative buttons. Now before i go on and try some more on this little beauty, i wanted to call upon anyone on these lists who might be interested in setting up a quick kickstarter project. As some of you might know, kickstarter is a crowd funding platform for various creative ideas in the music, movie and design industries. This allows for teams with great ideas and would like to try getting funds for it to make something happen. Some projects include braille watches, solar charged ipad cases, etc. I wanted to know if anyone here, with a little team work and a few brainstorming sessions, would like to go forth with a slipmat for the ipad, specifically for DJ, with cookie cutter spaces where all the controls are. I have already been outlining this in a previous post, but the more i try dj on the ipad, the more i see this as a realistic goal. I have no problem assigning a small team at my studio for preparing the cads for molding, as well as preparing the contacts for a first prototype which can be videoed live on an ipad. I am talking a real prototype made in resin which will be printed from a 3d service, based on our cad files. If someone would be willing to help with the kickstarter platform as its only us based for now, we can probably get something going and all DJ fans, blind or not i am sure, can have something good out of this. Please let me know off list whether this would interest you. It doesn't really matter whether anyone would jump on the train or not, as i have been anticipating this for a while and have already budgeted myself for realizing the project, even at a scale of just a few prototypes. This is not to make any money, but to share the creative processes going on here, as well as a drive to provide alternative accessibility solutions for certain entertainment applications which we could greatly benefit from. Hope this will raise some eyebrows, and have a great weekend Yuma -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. samplelab app accessible
Hi list, I just downloaded samplelab. Here is the description from synthtopia: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2011/03/07/sample-lab-ipad-sampling-instrument-gets-punch-in-loop-recording-hardware-midi-control/ Upon opening the app, i find a pop up asking whether i want to watch an intro video, which takes you to mobile safari. Going back to samplelab, i found all the buttons were tagged, except obviously for the sampler buttons which are however all buttons in a grid. This is great news as the devvers have used all coco apis therefore it may be one of the only accessible sampler apps out there. Also, among the features compatibility with various midi controllers. I will try hooking my akai mpd on it to see where it will take me, but this seems real promising for music lovers. Re: 1 Password
Hi, The 1Password application itself is totally accessible. There are, however, a couple of initial screens that only come up the first time you run the program that do not work with VoiceOver. One of them is asking about whether or not you want to use DropBox to sync passwords and I believe the other one is some sort of welcome screen. I have reported this issue to Agile Software and they said that they would fix the problem. Re: Pndora and VO?
Hi Kevin, I've never had any luck with the Pandora site using my Mac, probably because it is flash. But there is an app you can get from the app store on your Mac called pyrcast, which works quite well. It has a bunch of unlabeled buttons, and my experience has been that you have to move mouse cursor to vo cursor and then click mouse with vo shift space. But if you either fool with the application and memorize what the controls do, or get sighted help to label the buttons, it works great and beats not being able to use Pandora at all. Somebody made reference to an app called pianopub that apparently does the same thing as pyrcast, but I couldn't find it on the mac app store. labels not sticking
Recently, I posted saying that it was easy to label the pyrcast buttons with a minute of sighted help. I have since discovered that many of my labels did not stick. Some did, which seems weird. For instance, the buttons for play, skip and go back to beginning of song stuck. Even the pause label, which is what play turns in to when a song is playing, stuck. But other things, such as settings, or add station went away when I closed and reopened the application. Is this typical for voice over labels? I'd think it would be consistent, and all would stick or all go away, but this has happened twice now, so it seems to be a definite issue, not just a quirk. Why would some labels stick across sessions with the application and others not? No problem, :). Yes, you can create new stations with Pianopub. If you want to switch stations, you'll have to root your mouse cursor to VO and click with the mouse. Re: Pndora and VO?
Hi Carolyn! To label a item when sitting on the [ lets say] button with no name! Press vo+slash [the one below semi colon! And you'll be able to give it what ever name you want! :] Some people set help tags to the fastest setting and have them announced which is almost like having a label! But for those item's that do not have a help tag and someone can tell you what it is! use that command to label it! Sorry this is a bit long, but I did not want to give a one liner! hahahahahahaha :] Colin I'm far too bad for Heaven! The Devil is afraid I'll take his place! Re: Pndora and VO?
Hi John, So far, the only way I've been able to change stations is to use my track pad with vo trackpad commander off. In other words, move the mouse cursor to the vo cursor with command option control f5. Then use a physical mouse or a trackpad to actual do a real mouse click. Re: Bluetooth on Brailliant 40 Display
Sarai, He is not able to hear the tones, but aside from this it seems he may have an older model or at least the steps I recall using on the Brailliant I have at the office are not working for him. I was trying to remember the steps since the Brailliant is at the office and I use a Refreshabraille at home. If I recall, you use the first key in the vertical row on the right side, which is key 4 to move down through the options, is that not correct? Just want to be sure I provided the proper keys for navigating through the menu options. Revisiting cutting and pasting from WEb sites
Hello, everyone. You may recall about a week ago I asked about the frustrating problem of copying text from WEb sites. I discovered something today: if a WEb site has a print option for an article, it's easier to select and paste. Not ideal, but much easier. In several instances today, select worked the way it is supposed to: select with shift, thencopy, then paste. Might just have been the WEb sites I tried, but if any of the sites you visit have a print option, give it a whirl. It takes images, too, unless you erase them later, and in Text EDit, saves as rtf with attachments because of that. HTH.
