Moderator note -was- Re: apology to the list. sorry!

2011-10-31 Thread Cara Quinn
Hello All,

Firstly a happy Halloween to you!

Okay so now on to list biz.

There has been some questionable activity here of late, including posting of
mp3 links which are, put simply, not legal. This is to say that those who
download these are pirating them.

I want you all to know that this sort of behavior is not tolerated here. -And,
that we have a one-strike and you're out policy.

So, in future, be aware of this.

Simply put, if the material you're posting here on this list is not legally
allowed to be shared with the general public then it's not allowed here.

This also goes for tips on use of software in ways that it's not intended to be
used. I.E. the thread regarding using OSX on non-Mac machines etc.

The spirit of the law here is that this is not legal, and the letter of the law
honestly isn't perfectly clear on this just yet, so as long as this is
questionable in its legality, guess what, -It's off-limits here.

-So again, this is not welcome here and will not be tolerated.

So if you'd like to post something that you know is questionable or illegal,
don't bother, if you'd like to stay on this list. :) -Know what I mean?

If you'd like to post something here that you're not sure about, I.E. if you
aren't sure if it's acceptable, then by all means, write me and ask. You can
get in touch at:

caraqu...@caraquinn.com or modelc...@gmail.com

Now I'm sorry it's taken me this long to address these issues in the last few
days, but quite honestly, y'all should know better! :) -Yes?…

So thanks for reading and please do keep the conversation legit, intelligent
and relevant, K?

Ya'll rock and hope you've had a lovely / scary Hallown!!!

Screams!

Cara :)

now the man sent an email to the list when it was supposed to be sent to a
private individual.

now, is it a violation of apple's EULA for me to run their OS on unsupported
hardware. technically yes. However, since I purchased the OS X disk (retail
from apple) and there is case law stating that apple cannot keep me from
running said software on unsupported hardware, I am not technically in
violation of the law.now, apple is not going to bring a case against me for
this because it benefits them for me to do so (I debug drivers and find
problems, which get reported to the apple dev team). this allows apple to
better evaluate their code and make corrections or remove bugs.

also, there was a recent appellate court ruling that narrows the scope of DMCA,
thus allowing me to be able to run the OS where I want it simply because I own
the dvd upon which the OS installer files are placed. I am not a lawyer, so it
is suggested that you check with one over any of the points made.

end of off topic post )and thread I hope).

help alex really slow

2011-10-31 Thread Rachel magario
My MBP is to slow. Alex is slow sometimes takes 3 seconds to read what is on my
cursor.
Other times sounds like a bad Skype connection. it will sort of eat the first
word and speak the rest.
It is doing the thing that safari is busy, but is doing with every single
application I have on and it is happening every 20 or 30 seconds. I cant do any
manful work.

it improves when mail is off.
I verified my disk and reaper disk was not available.
Any ideas please?
Right now I am actually writing with no sound feedback, Alex just sort of went
to sleep.
I am very busy with loads of dead lines and I can read.
Thank you.
Ah, and if I turn voice over off it works just fine for any sighted person.
also I am still in snow in this computer.

Re: Safari Behavior on the Mac vs IPhone

2011-10-31 Thread Mike Arrigo
Glad that worked, I actually leave plug ins disabled unless I know I will need
flash, this will cause sites to provide an html version if possible which will
read. Hopefully eventually html5 takes the place of flash and this is no longer
an issue.

Re: Seri on the Mac?

2011-10-31 Thread Jon Cohn
Well, some of it is already there, and has been since before Voice Over, before
OSX and possibly even before Steve Jobs was kicked out by the board.
Macintoshes have had a speech recognition system. It does not work as flexibly
as Siri, but you can have it understand several hundred commands per an
application and click on buttons automatically. And yes, there is the ability
to name your computer there. The question really is how much more work is
needed to understand more dialects and become less rigid in the clauses
allowed. I think the Macintosh Voice Regognition is based on the entire phrase
while Siri appears to parse out the individual words and then do pattern
matching on possible phrases. The other significant thing about Siri is its
ability to maintain context. So, if it just fave you restaurants in Farmville,
Va and you say how about in Roanoke it will reuse the previous category to run
the query.and most of the voices on Tiger and Leopard except Alex came into
existence on the Macintosh at the same time as Voice Recognition.

Re: uploading html code with accented letters

2011-10-31 Thread Jon Cohn
I would trust Chris on this, he does has more experience than I do... However,
I would have expected that if the HTML had indicated that the content-encoding
was UTF-8 which I believe all Macintoshes use, then I would have expected the
accented characters to be displayed correctly on the web page.

Re: Track pad commander question

2011-10-31 Thread Jon Cohn
Well, one does not actually meed a script unless uou truely want to link "send"
to the trackpad commandr. If you want to re-map send to F3 it is fairly easy
to do.

The below instructions are for Snow Leopard, if somebody needs me to test them
in Lion I can do that.

1. Start system preferences.
2. switch to the keyboard panel. usually use the "view" menu for this)
3.select the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab.
4. Find the "Shortcut Categories" table and select "Application Shortcuts"
(line 10 column 2 )
5.Tab the "Add an Application Shortcut" button
6. In the new window there are three entry items.
7. Select "Mail" from the pull down menu"
8. Type in "Send" (Capitalize the S ) in the second field and then hit tab.
9. Tab a function key or modifier key and letter or function key. (In my case I
used F3)
10. Hit tab again and hit enter.
11. Review the application shortcuts table to make sure you entered as expected.
12. Test it out in mail.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Re: Adium Enquiries

2011-10-31 Thread Mike Arrigo
Actually, voiceover always read the names for me, but if you get the newest
beta, it solves a few voiceover issues, the empty thing is gone, and in a
message window, it no longer says unknown, instead it says html content as it
should.

Re: Safari Behavior on the Mac vs IPhone

2011-10-31 Thread Mike Arrigo
I wonder if there are 2 versions of the page, a flash and an html version, if
the site is giving you the flash version on the mac, you won't see the buttons
since adobe refuses to make flash accessible. You might try this, open safari
preferences and go to the security tab, uncheck the option to enable plug ins,
then go to the page in question.

A Sister's Eulogy for Steve Jobs

I grew up as an only child, with a single mother. Because we were poor and
because I knew my father had emigrated from Syria, I imagined he looked like
Omar Sharif. I hoped he would be rich and kind and would come into our lives
(and our not yet furnished apartment) and help us. Later, after I'd met my
father, I tried to believe he'd changed his number and left no forwarding
address because he was an idealistic revolutionary, plotting a new world for
the Arab people.

Even as a feminist, my whole life I'd been waiting for a man to love, who
could love me. For decades, I'd thought that man would be my father. When I
was 25, I met that man and he was my brother.

By then, I lived in New York, where I was trying to write my first novel. I
had a job at a small magazine in an office the size of a closet, with three
other aspiring writers. When one day a lawyer called me - me, the
middle-class girl from California who hassled the boss to buy us health
insurance - and said his client was rich and famous and was my long-lost
brother, the young editors went wild. This was 1985 and we worked at a
cutting-edge literary magazine, but I'd fallen into the plot of a Dickens
novel and really, we all loved those best. The lawyer refused to tell me my
brother's name and my colleagues started a betting pool. The leading
candidate: John Travolta. I secretly hoped for a literary descendant of
Henry James - someone more talented than I, someone brilliant without even
trying.

When I met Steve, he was a guy my age in jeans, Arab- or Jewish-looking and
handsomer than Omar Sharif.

We took a long walk - something, it happened, that we both liked to do. I
don't remember much of what we said that first day, only that he felt like
someone I'd pick to be a friend. He explained that he worked in computers.

I didn't know much about computers. I still worked on a manual Olivetti
typewriter.

I told Steve I'd recently considered my first purchase of a computer:
something called the Cromemco.

Steve told me it was a good thing I'd waited. He said he was making
something that was going to be insanely beautiful.

I want to tell you a few things I learned from Steve, during three distinct
periods, over the 27 years I knew him. They're not periods of years, but of
states of being. His full life. His illness. His dying.

Steve worked at what he loved. He worked really hard. Every day.

That's incredibly simple, but true.

He was the opposite of absent-minded.

He was never embarrassed about working hard, even if the results were
failures. If someone as smart as Steve wasn't ashamed to admit trying, maybe
I didn't have to be.

When he got kicked out of Apple, things were painful. He told me about a
dinner at which 500 Silicon Valley leaders met the then-sitting president.
Steve hadn't been invited.

He was hurt but he still went to work at Next. Every single day.

Novelty was not Steve's highest value. Beauty was.

For an innovator, Steve was remarkably loyal. If he loved a shirt, he'd
order 10 or 100 of them. In the Palo Alto house, there are probably enough
black cotton turtlenecks for everyone in this church.

He didn't favor trends or gimmicks. He liked people his own age.

His philosophy of aesthetics reminds me of a quote that went something like
this: "Fashion is what seems beautiful now but looks ugly later; art can be
ugly at first but it becomes beautiful later."

Steve always aspired to make beautiful later.

He was willing to be misunderstood.

Uninvited to the ball, he drove the third or fourth iteration of his same
black sports car to Next, where he and his team were quietly inventing the
platform on which Tim Berners-Lee would write the program for the World Wide
Web.

Mona Simpson is a novelist and a professor of English at the University of
California, Los Angeles. She delivered this eulogy for her brother, Steve
Jobs, on Oct. 16 at his memorial service at the Memorial Church of Stanford
University.

Steve was like a girl in the amount of time he spent talking about love.
Love was his supreme virtue, his god of gods. He tracked and worried about
the romantic lives of the people working with him.

Whenever he saw a man he thought a woman might find dashing, he called out,
"Hey are you single? Do you wanna come to dinner with my sister?"

I remember when he phoned the day he met Laurene. "There's this beautiful
woman and she's really smart and she has this dog and I'm going to marry
her."

When Reed was born, he began gushing and never stopped. He was a physical
dad, with each of his child

Re: apology to the list. sorry!

2011-10-31 Thread Eric Oyen
I didn't see the original message, but I thought I should comment.

offering to help with software or offering to acquire software is not a
copyright offense UNLESS there is an offer to acquire it illegally or crack it
to bypass copyright protections. also, US copyright laws are usually not
enforceable in other countries unless there is a treaty in effect.

now the man sent an email to the list when it was supposed to be sent to a
private individual.

now, is it a violation of apple's EULA for me to run their OS on unsupported
hardware. technically yes.

Re: steve Jobs in 1994.

2011-10-31 Thread Kristyn Leigh
Last year a computer programmer from northern California told me he knows
several folks at Apple. According to him, one of the programmers has a family
member who is blind or visually impaired. That is probably a more likely
motivation for the beginnings of accessibility than one of Steve's personal
visions. If Jobs didn't like it, I'm sure he could have ended it.

I liked the story about the first iMac with the button for a CD tray instead of
the slot Steve expected. The product launch was almost cancelled.

Re: Safari Behavior on the Mac vs IPhone

2011-10-31 Thread Gigi
Hi Teresa.
I am confused about something here. You said Flash wasn't accessible. However,
my church has been using Flash Player from Adobe, and it works fine under Lion,
except my stupid Wi-Fi keeps cutting out, which is something I'll need to take
up with A T and T. However, is that the same thing you are talking about?

Regards,
Gigi

RE: steve Jobs in 1994.

2011-10-31 Thread Brian Miller
LOL! Exactly, and that's why I suggest that Apple under Jobs is not a
classic market model, but as others have suggested, a new model entirely,
one that focuses not on the absolute lowest price at all costs, but a
quality experience. As the 1985 article discussing the roll out of the
first MAC said, "You respect IMB, but you love your Apple."

When it comes to the quality v. quantity argument it is usually preceeded by
discussions implying market share as an indication of product fitness.
Obviously if there are more Windows boxes purchased, it must be better. I
also know that cockroaches far outnumber people on this planet.

Re: creating audio cd for the car

2011-10-31 Thread Adie
Hi people,

So how would saving an Audible book to an SD card work? Would you be
able to do that without messing around with start times?

I'd would also like to copy a 13 hour radio series, which I have on
CD, to an SD card. My guess would be, from reading this conversation,
that I should make it into a playlist, but then what?

I'm pretty much of an iTunes dunce, so I hope the explanation is fit
for a three year old:)

Re: podcasts about podcasting?Re: (round table) podcasting on the mac?

2011-10-31 Thread Esther
Hi Anouk, Paul, and Others,

Take a look at a podcast that Shane Jackson made about using Audio Hijack Pro
to hijack separate tracks:
http://blindworldblog.blogspot.com/2008/06/small-review-of-audio-hijack-pro.html
The direct link to the podcast, rather than his blog page is:
http://www.shanejackson.net/Audio_Hijack_Demo.mp3

If you do a search of the Mail Archive site for this list by putting in
"from:Esther Anna Shane" or "from: Esther Anna podcast", you'll find my reply
to Anna Dresner with the above information:
• Re: creating a teaching podcast
http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg06213.html
If you read down the thread by using the Control+N access key combination,
you'll find a few mores suggestions, such as checking Dane's Blind Cool Tech
podcast on working with Amadeus Pro, with a listed time for the relevant
section, and other commenters with helpful suggestions.

Darcy Burnard has also posted some helpful podcasting tips. I did a search on
"from:Darcy podcast* hijack*" without the quotation marks, but using the
asterisk wild cards and got:
"Re: Recording Skype calls on the fly with Audio Hijack":
http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg40029.html

Since he mentioned an AppleScript in that post, I used Control+N to read down
the thread and got to his post with the AppleScript:
http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg40036.html

I'll paste in the relevant section, for the AppleScript, but you should read
through the posts. A pity that there is no Mail Archive set up for the viphone
list, since it makes archive searching way more efficient, but only the list
owner can implement that now. I'm just glad that the original owner of the
macvisionaries list set this feature up, and that others who have set up lists
on Google Groups, such as the pro-audio list, have chosen to do the same.

tell application "Audio Hijack Pro"
set theSession to the first session whose name contains "Skype"
tell theSession to start hijacking
tell theSession to start recording
end tell

HTH. I'm sure you can find more helpful details by exploring the Mail Archive
on your own. Cheers,

Esther

Importing selection as playlist?

2011-10-31 Thread Traci
Hi all,

I'm trying to import music from an external drive into my Mac. Some of this
music is in folders, which were once playlists on my windows machine. Is there
a way, where I can import the folder as a playlist, or select the items inside
the folder and import them into a playlist?

Anything other than adding the songs into the automatically add to iTunes
folder, because then I need to locate the tracks and manually create the
playlist.

Appreciate any guidance. I've been looking to see if there is any scripts out
there as well.

Re: uploading html code with accented letters

2011-10-31 Thread Chris Blouch
You should only use ascii text in your HTML. If you need special
characters then you need to use entity identifiers as anything will have
cross-browser/platform weirdness, if you get them to work at all.
Entities are written as &something; where something is replaced by some
string of characters. Common entities can be found here:

http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_entities.asp

I run into this all the time with Windows people typing in special
characters instead of using entities and then wondering why it comes out
all goofy on Safari and anything non-IE.

Re: creating audio cd for the car

2011-10-31 Thread Esther
Hi Ray,

To burn Audible books to audio CDs using iTunes, use Command+I to access the
Options tab of the Audible track and set the Start and Stop time boxes each
time before burning the next segment (e.g., 0:00 to 80:00, then 80:00 to
160:00, etc.) Audible suggests that you just adjust the start time, but if you
want, you can check the start and stop time locations to match natural breaks
with the RestartAt AppleScript from Tim Kilburn's VoiceOver Downloads web page:
http://web.me.com/kilburns/voiceover/downloads.html
For example, I split a set of short stories so that the breaks would come at
the beginning and end of complete stories on the audio CD.
Remember to turn these settings off when you're done, or your Audible track
will only play the section between the start time and the stop time that you've
set. A bit more tedious than doing this with the app on the Windows side.

Here's the link to the help instructions on the Audible web site:

What model and flavor is it? As a USB device it usually is just a matter
of the manufacturer offering OSX drivers. Without that you'll be stuck.

Hi all,
I just made a discovery that I really wish someone had shared with
me earlier. Apparently, Macs use a different microphone input than
most other PC sound cards. This means that the standard, non
line-quality microphone you may have, as I do, will not work with a
Mac's microphone jack. You either need a converter, a microphone
that is certified to work with Macs, or a USB microphone. This also
explains why Windows sees only a line-in jack for audio input in
addition to digital audio.

I wonder if that's because it's a live digital audio stream and not

a USB cell phone charger port.

Re: Facebook chat instructions if needed was iTunes Question and Other Stuff

2011-10-31 Thread Red . Falcon
Hi Gavin again!
Heres that facebook info if needed!
1. go to facebook.com and go to your account!
2. open account settings and select change user name [ even if you do not have
one]
3. Facebook should give you some options and just after them will be a more
link select it!
4. Now after the options Facebook gives you [I did not like my suggestions]
there is a edit box where you can put your own name!
There is a see if name is available button after you put your choice, if it is
available you can have it!
If not try another or add a number to the end! [ it might help]
5. When your happy come out of Facebook and open Adium!
6. In Adium on your contacts window open vo+m and go to the file menu!
7. Scroll down to add new account sub menu and arrow right, go down to Jabber
and select it!
8. In the new account window is where you'll find those tabs, the first one
should be selected just scroll past until you get to where you put your new
user name!
When you've entered it the next field is your Facebook password!
9. After filling those in go back to the options tab select and scroll to where
you put the server name [ as you correctly said ] chat.facebook.com and enter
it!
10. go to register new account button and press it!
And you should be done! :]

Re: Importing into iTunes question

HI Bill,

I think you can use the Command+I "Get Info" shortcut to edit your tracks and
navigate to the Options tab where you can change the pop up menu button for
Media Kind from "Movies" to "TV Shows". And you should be able to do this for
multiple selected tracks at once if this works the same way that it does for
moving Audiobooks from Music to Books.

HTH. Cheers,

Re: Safari Behavior on the Mac vs IPhone

Hi, Kevin,

Do you know which players the site uses for media? If it uses strictly flash,
it will not be very accessible on the Mac. You could possibly try going to the
mobile version on your computer, which will most likely not contain flash.

Re: creating audio cd for the car

2011-10-31 Thread Ray Foret Jr
Say, ever burned an audible.com book to CD using ITunes? I can't imagine how
that's done.

When I looked up the instructions at audible, it seemed to me like you had to
access stuff I reckoned we don't have access to.

For my audio CD's, I just use either Simply Burns or Burn.

Great tools both of them; but, I found that with Burn, you need to take care to
ensure that the files you are burning have 44.1 oversampling and 16 bit depth.
IF not, the files may play at half or double speed on the CD.

iTunes Question and Other Stuff

2011-10-31 Thread Gavin
Hi Guys,

Is there a way to back up the contents of an iPhone to a newly created iTunes
library without removing anything from the iPhone itself? Whenever I select
things like the Music or Apps radio buttons and tell iTunes that I want to sync
those items, I get told that the data on the iPhone will be erased and replaced
with the contents of the current iTunes library. The thing is, as I said, it's
a newly created library, so it doesn't have any items in it to put on the
iPhone.

Also, I posted 2 questions a few days ago that are as yet unanswered. I'm
pasting them below just in case they didn't make it through to the list. Thanks
very much in advance for any suggestions.

1. I downloaded Dropbox V1.40. How do I enter my account information without
sighted assistance? Also, how would I turn the ability to have Dropbox start
automatically when the operating system boots on or off?

2. Has anybody managed to get VoiceOver to speak the names of contacts in
Adium's contacts table. All I hear is, "empty, empty, empty" when I scroll up
and down. Is it the version of Adium I'm using? Or perhaps the services with
which I'm using it? I have it connected to Facebook and MXit. I've got the
latest Adium version, if that helps.

Gavin

This is why I think the Voice Over is much less a market decision than a

Hi,
Just a couple of comments, I have not read the bio yet. Still the book is
not a history of apple computers. Instead its a bio from a father to his
children so they understand him and why he made the time choices he did.
As for Jobs involvement inaccessibility, bare in mind that there have been
exactly two and only two screen readers for the mac, outspoken and
voiceover. for years outspoken did the job, and Jobs was intense about the
proprietary nature of Apple. That is why they were so expensive, and that
was /is why they are built largely like tanks. Nothing went into a mac that
he did not want there, end of story. No matter his motives, he saw a market
and built for that market. the market has been here for years, but no one
saw it that way.
just my two cents,

A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs - NYTimes.com

2011-10-31 Thread Hai Nguyen Ly

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/30/opinion/mona-simpsons-eulogy-for-steve-jobs.html?_r=1

A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs

I grew up as an only child, with a single mother. Because we were poor and
because I knew my father had emigrated from Syria, I imagined he looked like
Omar Sharif. I hoped he would be rich and kind and would come into our lives
(and our not yet furnished apartment) and help us. Later, after I’d met my
father, I tried to believe he’d changed his number and left no forwarding
address because he was an idealistic revolutionary, plotting a new world for
the Arab people.

Even as a feminist, my whole life I’d been waiting for a man to love, who could
love me. For decades, I’d thought that man would be my father. When I was 25, I
met that man and he was my brother.

By then, I lived in New York, where I was trying to write my first novel. I had
a job at a small magazine in an office the size of a closet, with three other
aspiring writers. When one day a lawyer called me — me, the middle-class girl
from California who hassled the boss to buy us health insurance — and said his
client was rich and famous and was my long-lost brother, the young editors went
wild. This was 1985 and we worked at a cutting-edge literary magazine, but I’d
fallen into the plot of a Dickens novel and really, we all loved those best.
The lawyer refused to tell me my brother’s name and my colleagues started a
betting pool. The leading candidate: John Travolta. I secretly hoped for a
literary descendant of Henry James — someone more talented than I, someone
brilliant without even trying.

When I met Steve, he was a guy my age in jeans, Arab- or Jewish-looking and
handsomer than Omar Sharif.

We took a long walk — something, it happened, that we both liked to do. I don’t
remember much of what we said that first day, only that he felt like someone
I’d pick to be a friend. He explained that he worked in computers.

I didn’t know much about computers. I still worked on a manual Olivetti
typewriter.

I told Steve I’d recently considered my first purchase of a computer: something
called the Cromemco.

Steve told me it was a good thing I’d waited. He said he was making something
that was going to be insanely beautiful.

I want to tell you a few things I learned from Steve, during three distinct
periods, over the 27 years I knew him. They’re not periods of years, but of
states of being. His full life. His illness. His dying.

Steve worked at what he loved. He worked really hard. Every day.

That’s incredibly simple, but true.

He was the opposite of absent-minded.

He was never embarrassed about working hard, even if the results were failures.
If someone as smart as Steve wasn’t ashamed to admit trying, maybe I didn’t
have to be.

When he got kicked out of Apple, things were painful. He told me about a dinner
at which 500 Silicon Valley leaders met the then-sitting president. Steve
hadn’t been invited.

He was hurt but he still went to work at Next. Every single day.

Novelty was not Steve’s highest value. Beauty was.

For an innovator, Steve was remarkably loyal. If he loved a shirt, he’d order
10 or 100 of them. In the Palo Alto house, there are probably enough black
cotton turtlenecks for everyone in this church.

He didn’t favor trends or gimmicks. He liked people his own age.

His philosophy of aesthetics reminds me of a quote that went something like
this: “Fashion is what seems beautiful now but looks ugly later; art can be
ugly at first but it becomes beautiful later.”

Steve always aspired to make beautiful later.

He was willing to be misunderstood.

Uninvited to the ball, he drove the third or fourth iteration of his same black
sports car to Next, where he and his team were quietly inventing the platform
on which Tim Berners-Lee would write the program for the World Wide Web.

Mona Simpson is a novelist and a professor of English at the University of
California, Los Angeles. She delivered this eulogy for her brother, Steve Jobs,
on Oct. 16 at his memorial service at the Memorial Church of Stanford
University.

Steve was like a girl in the amount of time he spent talking about love. Love
was his supreme virtue, his god of gods. He tracked and worried about the
romantic lives of the people working with him.

Whenever he saw a man he thought a woman might find dashing, he called out,
“Hey are you single? Do you wanna come to dinner with my sister?”

I remember when he phoned the day he met Laurene. “There’s this beautiful woman
and she’s really smart and she has this dog and I’m going to marry her.”

When Reed was born, he began gushing and never stopped. He was a physical dad,
with each of his children. He fretted over Lisa’s boyfriends and Erin’s travel
and skirt lengths and Eve’s safety around the horses she adored.

None of us who attended Reed’s graduation party will ever forget the scene of
Reed and Steve slow dancing.

His abiding love for Laurene sustained h

2011-10-31 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

The point of this portion of the thread was pretty much about his motivations
in regard to accessibility on the Mac and IOS and, how much of a role did he
play in it. so, I'm not sure you can say "there, end of story. No matter his
motives, he saw a market and built for that…".

Re: (round table) podcasting on the mac?

2011-10-31 Thread Paul Erkens
Hi Anouk,
I'm not a great multi people podcaster myself. So far I only did podcasts with
my usb microphone, but from what I know, when 2 people skype together, they
each record their own audio stream, so that it is of high quality, and not of
skype quality. I don't know how Kevin Ciao does it when he is being interviewed
by other people, but voiceover on, and similar podcasts that he appears in, all
sound great. I think Florian, also on this list, once told me about each
individual recording his her own voice, and then later overlaying the tracks in
amadeus. Hopefully an experienced podcaster will comment on this. I'm
interested in the details as well.

Best,
Paul.

(round table) podcasting on the mac?

2011-10-31 Thread Anouk Radix
Hello everyone,
Me and a friend of mine would like to make our very first podcast and we would
like to do that on the mac. We communicate through skype, is there an audio
editing app that can record straight from skype or do i need to use one program
to record the conversation to record and another to edit?
I hear garageband or amadeus pro can both be used but can they record from
skype and what are the pros and cons of either?
Thanks,
Greetings, Anouk,
