Latest Serotek blog post and the comment I left them.

2014-11-24 Thread Pamela Francis
Revving Up for the Road Ahead

Serotek is undergoing some changes to better meet your needs as a digital
consumer. The assistive technology industry has been shifting for a while now,
and it would be foolish to believe yesterday’s formula will continue to work in
today’s age of wearable technology, smart homes, and interconnected media.

Understandably, there may be questions about the longevity of the products and
services you have come to rely on. For years Serotek has thought outside the
box to deliver the most affordable solutions with the best customer and product
support, and there are no plans to reverse this pattern of innovation to meet
you where you need us.

You may also be wondering about the future of the SeroTalk Podcast Network,
arguably one of the leading content providers on all things technology. There
is a time to cover headlines, and there is a time to create them. As long as
the community remains interested, SPN will evolve alongside its parent company.
For now, we have to deal with the reality of blunt, but truthful, comments such
as that left by one loyal customer who wondered if we were finally going to
stop socializing on the podcasts and finally get back to product development.

Given the number of conflicting rumors surrounding the popular platform, the
story is this: Ownership of SPN was offered to Joe Steinkamp and Ricky Enger
under a highly attractive earn-out formula. Serotek offered to continue
financing the website, podcast, and production and platform hosting required to
maintain a consistent user experience. Serotek is aware of the value they
provided to the community. Unfortunately, they elected not to accept this
offer. The Serotek team has no doubt Joe and Ricky will be a valuable asset to
the community in other capacities and wish them all the best in their new
endeavors.

Our goals were not to eliminate people, but rather, to realign the company
structure and shift company functions that are hindering growth, steps that
were required to keep Serotek from becoming one more casualty of the new
landscape. It is unfortunate that three other teammates abruptly opted to
follow other directions, but we respect their choices and also wish them the
absolute best in whatever they pursue.

Change is sometimes a scary prospect. Yet change moved us away from the cell
phone to the smart phone, from the TV to the tablet, and from yesterday’s
computer to today’s cloud. We’re working hard to keep you in the middle of it,
where you belong. Contrary to competing rumors, Serotek is not down for the
count. We’re squarely in your corner and ready to meet the next phase with the
same fervor we’re well known for.

Stay tuned. The best is on its way, and you are going to be a part of it.

Understandably, one's business model must change with the evolution of
technology. However, dissemination of information and resources through your
many podcasts came to be a staple in the lives of many people within the blind
community. given the national and international listenership you had, I cannot
believe there would not be someone or a group to form a partnership that
would've taken ownership of that network in order to keep that resource alive.
Not everyone who listened to the podcasts were home, collecting a check. Per
your blog, Joe and Ricky were offered ownership of the network. Why was it
strictly limited to Joe and Ricky? What you have to realize, is that within
those podcasts kept your product name alive among consumers. why keep Iblink
radio? The majority of what is on Iblink radio can be found within other
services. if it is only going to serve as a vehicle to distribute material I
can get elsewhere, it's not worth taking the space on my phone, my Mac, or my
iPad. I personally since the inception of the monthly subscription service have
wanted to sign up for it, however it is not available for Mac. I refuse to
pull out my windows machine for one program. from everything I was told, one
cannot participate in Samnet chat via Mac. however, given the way this
specific change was handled, even if you made it for Mac I'm afraid to sign up
for it. How would I know the rug wouldn't be pulled out from under me without
notice? Any reputable corporation gives its customer base notice of its
changes. we as participants, listeners, and/or consumers of your product were
at least owed a thank you from your podcast team for our support of the
network. I personally, do not have to know the backstory of everyone's
business. However, if I am a regular contributor/supporter, at least I want to
know, if the service ends, I'm appreciated. that is why I see your blog post as
nothing more than saving face. Who, in their right mind, is going to be able to
trust you developing any future services having had the type of shakeup you had
with no notice to the community? If in fact this happened the way you say it
did with Joe and Ricky having

Re: Finder Podcast Part 1

2014-11-24 Thread Steve Holmes
Your link is broken!

When I read your message about Part 1 of your Finder podcast, I hit VO-space on
the link to your episode and that takes me to Safari but the page never fills.
I just get an empty HTML page and interaction is impossible.
Any way you might use an rss feed with audio enclosures instead of stupid send
space? files expire on sendspace quite soon.

Just my thoughts and observations.

Re: Anyone into Wine? (the software, not the drink)

2014-11-24 Thread Piotr Machacz
I got a couple of games to work with wine bottler, even managed to
install the sapi package. However I struggled somewhat with getting
installing the VB6 runtimes to work which caused directX 8 games, like
the kitchensinc stuff not to work. Other things like super egg hunt
plus, swamp which used DX7 and a couple of Japanese hsp games like world
of war ran fine. The biggest issue for me is the sound lag, which if I
recall was about half a second. For fast games this is a very long time.
Maybe there's a way to reduce this, but all I managed to find through
web searches refered to reducing alsa buffers in linux but nothing
relating to mac.

As far as accessibility obviously if the app in question has a user
interface, VoiceOver will see just its title. The frontends themselves
work well enough, for wine bottler, which is the one I'm most familiar
with, you have to simulate a mouse click to select winetrix packages to
be included. Other than that the interface is straightforward enough.

Re: Audiobook builder.

2014-11-24 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

I used to use Audiobook Builder quite a lot, mostly to convert audiobooks which
I had bought and and / or been given as presents into a single file. I found
it quite good for that purpose.

When you open The application, first you have to choose to create a new
project. Give it a name and save it where you can find it, i.e. documents.
Once you have done this, you will have other choices available to you. First
of all, you need to add files to your project. Look in the menus of the
application in particular in the “audiobook” menu item for various options and
shortcut keys. If you are adding files from a cd, you have to choose “import
cd” options. So if I had a book that was recorded on 3 cds, I would import
them all one by one into the new project. Then you finish importing and choose
various options how you’d like to have your book created. This will require
some learning, because you will have various options which you need to press.
Once you’ve decided, you choose the last options to build your book. If you
had chosen to have your book sent into itunes, this will what will happen. You
will have a playlist called “audiobook builder’ amongst your playlists in
itunes. Audiobook builder will put all the books there. Incidentally, you can
choose what format you want your book to be: mp3 or m4a.

Hope this will help you a little. Audiobook Builder has a help item in its
menu bar.

Best wishes

Andrew

I would like to say that I really appreciate the effort that has been put into
making these Apple scripts available. Please keep up the wonderful work. I got
the battery one to work finally. It didn’t at first because it took me a while
to figure out I had to put in the key into where VoiceOver said blank. I knew I
needed one, but at first I couldn’t figure out how to get the correct key to go
with the command. I read the manual like it was suggested, but I guess I wrong

One more question regarding the virtual machine menu. Do I have to have the

started up fusion and it doesn’t seem to appear without the cable connected.
Once again, I am extremely grateful for everyone’s help and support. Dealing

Re: weird mac air issue when upgrading

2014-11-24 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Just a follow up to this..
I did try the window chooser and again, nothing happened.

Afraid to just power off the mac air, I let it sit there a little while, but
finally did power it off and waited about 30 seconds, turned it on again, and
when it came up, I again got the set up assistant, but it went through whatever
it had to finish setting up really fast and then everything was normal again.

Took the mac air on my trip and loved having a full sized laptop with me in
addition to my trusty i phone 5c!

Thanks,

As far as accessibility obviously if the app in question has a user

well enough, for wine bottler, which is the one I'm most familiar with, you
have to simulate a mouse click to select winetrix packages to be included.
Other than that the interface is straightforward enough.

Re: Seeking file management software for backup strategy

Each day of the week I want to move a certain folder to a daily backup folder

That’s all! This requires that I can check the system date and move a folder
with options for keeping directory structure and other such bells and

Are there any good apps that will let me do this?

Serotek is undergoing some changes to better meet your needs as a digital
consumer. The assistive technology industry has been shifting for a while
now, and it would be foolish to believe yesterday’s formula will continue to
work in today’s age of wearable technology, smart homes, and interconnected
 media.

Understandably, there may be questions about the longevity of the products
and services you have come to rely on. For years Serotek has thought outside
the box to deliver the most affordable solutions with the best customer and
product support, and there are no plans to reverse this pattern of innovation
to meet you where you need us.

You may also be wondering about the future of the SeroTalk Podcast Network,
arguably one of the leading content providers on all things technology. There
is a time to cover headlines, and there is a time to create them. As long as
the community remains interested, SPN will evolve alongside its parent
company. For now, we have to deal with the reality of blunt, but truthful,
comments such as that left by one loyal customer who wondered if we were
finally going to stop socializing on the podcasts and finally get back to
 product development.

Given the number of conflicting rumors surrounding the popular platform, the
story is this: Ownership of SPN was offered to Joe Steinkamp and Ricky Enger
under a highly attractive earn-out formula. Serotek offered to continue
financing the website, podcast, and production and platform hosting required
to maintain a consistent user experience. Serotek is aware of the value they
provided to the community. Unfortunately, they elected not to accept this
offer. The Serotek team has no doubt Joe and Ricky will be a valuable asset
to the community in other capacities and wish them all the best in their new

We’re working hard to keep you in the middle of
it, where you belong. Contrary to competing rumors, Serotek is not down for
the count. We’re squarely in your corner and ready to meet the next phase

Stay tuned. The best is on its way, and you are going to be a part of it.

Understandably, one's business model must change with the evolution of

many podcasts came to be a staple in the lives of many people within the

cannot believe there would not be someone or a group to form a partnership
that would've taken ownership of that network in order to keep that resource
alive. Not everyone who listened to the podcasts were home, collecting a
check. Per your blog, Joe and Ricky were offered ownership of the network.
Why was it strictly limited to Joe and Ricky? What you have to realize, is
that within those podcasts kept your product name alive among consumers. why
keep Iblink radio? The majority of what is on Iblink radio can be found
within other services. if it is only going to serve as a vehicle to
distribute material I can get elsewhere, it's not worth taking the space on
my phone, my Mac, or my iPad. I personally since the inception of the monthly
subscription service have wanted to sign up for it, however it is not

from everything I was told, one cannot participate in Samnet chat via Mac.
however, given the way this specific change was handled, even if you made it
for Mac I'm afraid to sign up for it. How would I know the rug wouldn't be
pulled out from under me without notice? Any reputable corporation gives its
customer base notice of its changes. we as participants, listeners, and/or
consumers of your product were at least owed a thank you from your podcast

I’ve had this issue before,
In my case I’ve accidentally clicked the trackpad while I was typing, and this

Browsing and restoring prior versions in textedit, pages etc

2014-11-24 Thread Phil Halton
Is the restore prior versions functionality accessible with VO? Does anyone
know how auto save and versioning works on the Mac and how we can prevent

Today something got screwed up and I lost some work in a text edit document.
I tried browsing prior versions as the last resort and couldn’t make much good

I wound up having to retype as best I could from memory the absolutely

The terminology can get a bit confusing at times. Generally they call
the overall machine's operating system the host OS. So in your case
your host is OSX. The virtual machine is called the guest OS which
could be Windows, Linux or anything else that runs on an Intel chip. I
think you can even download pre-configured vmware linux guest images.

Re: Browsing and restoring prior versions in textedit, pages etc

2014-11-24 Thread David Griffith
I have just had a play with the revert feature.
Basically I created four different versions of short document all with the same
text except to say they said first version, second version etc.
I think the problem is that the revert feature console has some un labelled
button next to the file version which is confusingly On described by voiceover
as a vertical slider.
As far as I can see there is no way of sliding anything unless it relates to
the date. Of course all my document versions were created today.
However by constantly bringing up window chooser to switch to the revert
console I found I was able to retreat to previous versions of my document by
pressing the first of these unlabelled buttons.
To see the impact of hitting this button you need to bring up Window Chooser
again.. Essentially when I brought up window chooser I had three items.
1. Revert Console
 2. The previous Version of the document brought up by hitting the un labelled
button..
3. The current version of the document.

I found that by repeatedly hitting the un labelled button I was able to
eventually march the document in window 2 back to the original version of the
document I created.
In window 3 I always had the latest version of the document.

Thats as far as I took my playing with this but I note that there are also
restore and done buttons on the Revert console which presumably do what they
say they do.
am a little tired tonight but if I have more of a play later tomorrow I might
be able to offer more help.

Revving Up for the Road Ahead

Serotek is undergoing some changes to better meet your needs as a digital
consumer. The assistive technology industry has been shifting for a while
now, and it would be foolish to believe yesterday’s formula will continue
to work in today’s age of wearable technology, smart homes, and
 interconnected media.

Understandably, there may be questions about the longevity of the
products and services you have come to rely on. For years Serotek has
thought outside the box to deliver the most affordable solutions with the
best customer and product support, and there are no plans to reverse this
pattern of innovation to meet you where you need us.

You may also be wondering about the future of the SeroTalk Podcast
Network, arguably one of the leading content providers on all things
technology. There is a time to cover headlines, and there is a time to
create them. As long as the community remains interested, SPN will evolve
alongside its parent company. For now, we have to deal with the reality
of blunt, but truthful, comments such as that left by one loyal customer
who wondered if we were finally going to stop socializing on the podcasts
and finally get back to product development.

Given the number of conflicting rumors surrounding the popular platform,
the story is this: Ownership of SPN was offered to Joe Steinkamp and
Ricky Enger under a highly attractive earn-out formula. Serotek offered
to continue financing the website, podcast, and production and platform
hosting required to maintain a consistent user experience. Serotek is
aware of the value they provided to the community. Unfortunately, they
elected not to accept this offer. The Serotek team has no doubt Joe and
Ricky will be a valuable asset to the community in other capacities and
wish them all the best in their new endeavors.

Our goals were not to eliminate people, but rather, to realign the
company structure and shift company functions that are hindering growth,
steps that were required to keep Serotek from becoming one more casualty
of the new landscape. It is unfortunate that three other teammates
abruptly opted to follow other directions, but we respect their choices
and also wish them the absolute best in whatever they pursue.

Change is sometimes a scary prospect. Yet change moved us away from the
cell phone to the smart phone, from the TV to the tablet, and from
yesterday’s computer to today’s cloud. We’re working hard to keep you in
the middle of it, where you belong. Contrary to competing rumors, Serotek
is not down for the count. We’re squarely in your corner and ready to
meet the next phase with the same fervor we’re well known for.

Stay tuned. The best is on its way, and you are going to be a part of
 it.

Understandably, one's business model must change with the evolution of
technology. However, dissemination of information and resources through
your many podcasts came to be a staple in the lives of many people within
the blind community. given the national and international listenership
you had, I cannot believe there would not be someone or a group to form a
partnership that would've taken ownership of that network in order to
keep that resource alive. Not everyone who listened to the podcasts were
home, collecting a check. Per your blog,

Re: Browsing and restoring prior versions in textedit, pages etc

2014-11-24 Thread Phil Halton
I did the same thing just a few minutes ago, creating four versions of a
document with a single line of text saying, “this is line x” where x is the
version #, and doing a manual save after each change to x.
I have found the following very accessible means of browsing and restoring
previous versions of a given document.
1 First, each time you save your work by pressing Command-S, or by closing a
document, it seems a new version is created.
Next, using the window chooser Command - F2-F2, I found several windows, first
was a choice for the extras menu, which only seems to close out the version
control window and return you to the document - kind of like a canceling
effect. I don’t know why its there, but I just ignore it for now.
3 The other windows are the browser control window - this is where you can
browse through the various versions.
the next window in the chooser list is the currently displayed document version.
finally, the last window in the chooser list is the version pointed to in the
browser control slider - usually the current version.

4 Select the browser control window and there you will find that by interacting
with the slider, you will be able to VO arrow right and left through the
various versions. The most recent version is leftmost in the slider, and the
rightmost is the oldest version. In my case, with four versions, the slider
contained four distinct positions. So, the number of positions available in the
slider corresponds to the number of versions with the leftmost being newest and
the rightmost being the oldest.
5 You can’t actually review the document in the browser control window. You
have to set the slider to the desired version and then use the window chooser
again, to select “current version” which will be the version the slider is
pointing to.
Then you can review the document (no editing available at this point) and see
if its the version you want.
I don’t know if you then have to go back into the browser controls to make it
the current document, but that’s a small point that can be figured out. you can
also use the browser controls to delete versions that you don’t want. Deleting
a version changes the number of slider positions in the browser control slider
to reflect the new number of versions.
I was easily able to select each of the four versions, by counting backward
through the versions in the slider, correctly predicting which version would
appear when chosen via the window chooser.
The other buttons in the browser dialog are self-explanatory.
I’m very happy to see this versioning facility is available to us.
Now, I just have to remember to “save my work” after every brilliant idea or
completed section of work. If you don’t do a manual save, you can’t retrieve
that work through the versioning controls.
tomorrow I go to the Apple store to pick up a time capsule. These two solutions
working in tandem should give me all the file backup I’m looking for.

Maybe “reverting to prior document versions” would make a good topic for a
podcast.

Nov 24, 2014, at 3:38 PM, David Griffith daj.griff...@gmail.com wrote:

I have just had a play with the revert feature.
Basically I created four different versions of short document all with the
same text except to say they said first version, second version etc.
I think the problem is that the revert feature console has some un labelled
button next to the file version which is confusingly On described by
 voiceover as a vertical slider.

I found that by repeatedly hitting the un labelled button I was able to
eventually march the document in window 2 back to the original version of
 the document I created.
In window 3 I always had the latest version of the document.

Thats as far as I took my playing with this but I note that there are also
restore and done buttons on the Revert console which presumably do what they
 say they do.
am a little tired tonight but if I have more of a play later tomorrow I might
be able to offer more help.

OT: looking for recommendations for good headphones

2014-11-24 Thread Alex Hall
Hi all,
I'm looking to replace my current headphones. They were $10 or $20 from Radio
Shack, but have been working great for at least eight years. They still work
perfectly, in fact, but the cushions on the speakers are gone and those around
the cups are falling apart. Needless to say, they are pretty uncomfortable to
wear for more than an hour or so.

I'd use them for music, audio editing, and audio gaming, so I want something
comfortable for hours on end and of good sound and build quality. Here are the
things I'm looking for:

* under $100, if possible
* high quality build, good sound
* comfortable for extended use
* wired connection, preferably 3.5mm
* Only one plug - no use having a microphone plug since my Macbook only has one
audio jack
* noise-muffling, though true noise cancelation is not necessary (basically, I
don't care about hearing sounds around me with these)

I think that'll do it. As I said, I'm not waring these while out for a walk or
carting them around, so they can be big and block ambient noises. My Aftershokz
are great for use with my iPhone, but for real audio on the Mac, I want
something good that I can wear for a long time. Thanks in advance for any ideas
anyone has.

Hi Alex,
For audio editing, I use around-the-ear headphones, Sony MDRV6s, that sound
great. They have a reputation for having a sound that doesn't mask the
qualities of the original audio source. I wouldn't exactly call them mobile
headphones, though they do fold up for transport or storage. For something a
little lighter, I'd recommend the Sennheiser PX200, on-the-ear closed cup
headphones. Sennheiser makes these with an in-line remote and microphone for
use with iOS devices and Macs. Both are more towards the top of your budget but
well worth it in my opinion.

Re: Browsing and restoring prior versions in textedit, pages etc

2014-11-24 Thread Phil Halton
Having spent a little more time using the version control dialog/window, I have
found that you can review previous versions either by setting the slider
control to a version and then using the window chooser to bring up that version
window, or, by restoring a copy of the currently selected version.
This is done by doing an option click on the restore button. Route the mouse to
the restore button, then press the option key, and when you hear “restore a
copy”, press the mouse pad to do a mouse click.
This will create a second window in the app containing a copy of the selected
version and you can command tab back and forth between it, and the current
version. Doing so closes the version control dialog, so you’ll have to bring it
up again from the file menu.

On Nov 24, 2014, at 4:58 PM, Phil Halton philh...@gmail.com wrote:

I did the same thing just a few minutes ago, creating four versions of a
document with a single line of text saying, “this is line x” where x is the
version #, and doing a manual save after each change to x.
I have found the following very accessible means of browsing and restoring
previous versions of a given document.
1 First, each time you save your work by pressing Command-S, or by closing a
document, it seems a new version is created.
Next, using the window chooser Command - F2-F2, I found several windows,
first was a choice for the extras menu, which only seems to close out the
version control window and return you to the document - kind of like a
canceling effect. I don’t know why its there, but I just ignore it for now.
3 The other windows are the browser control window - this is where you can
 browse through the various versions.
the next window in the chooser list is the currently displayed document
 version.
finally, the last window in the chooser list is the version pointed to in the
browser control slider - usually the current version.

4 Select the browser control window and there you will find that by
interacting with the slider, you will be able to VO arrow right and left
through the various versions. The most recent version is leftmost in the
slider, and the rightmost is the oldest version. In my case, with four
versions, the slider contained four distinct positions. So, the number of
positions available in the slider corresponds to the number of versions with
the leftmost being newest and the rightmost being the oldest.
5 You can’t actually review the document in the browser control window. You
have to set the slider to the desired version and then use the window
chooser again, to select “current version” which will be the version the
 slider is pointing to.
Then you can review the document (no editing available at this point) and see
if its the version you want.
I don’t know if you then have to go back into the browser controls to make it
the current document, but that’s a small point that can be figured out. you
can also use the browser controls to delete versions that you don’t want.
Deleting a version changes the number of slider positions in the browser
control slider to reflect the new number of versions.
These two
solutions working in tandem should give me all the file backup I’m looking
 for.

Maybe “reverting to prior document versions” would make a good topic for a
 podcast.

button next to the file version which is confusingly On described by
 voiceover as a vertical slider.
As far as I can see there is no way of sliding anything unless it relates
to the date. Of course all my document versions were created today.
However by constantly bringing up window chooser to switch to the revert
console I found I was able to retreat to previous versions of my document by
pressing the first of these unlabelled buttons.
To see the impact of hitting this button you need to bring up Window Chooser

 2. The previous Version of the document brought up by hitting the

Thanks guys. I looked on Amazon, and the Sony ones are $85, but with 4.6 out of
5 stars and nearly 1800 reviews. Given that both are within my price range,
would you say the Sennheiser or Sony is better? I'd love to have the quality of
the Sony pair, but I'm a bit worried that they'll bring out imperfections in
game audio I don't currently hear. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I've
never used a high-quality set of headphones except for stage monitoring while
playing with a band. Might the Sony headphones reveal things about my audio I'd
rather not know? smile I can only get one or the other. Plus, as I said, I
have to be able to wear them for hours at a time with minimal discomfort.

Understandably, there may be questions about the longevity of the

harvest all of the replies and my comments, I am in the process of aggregating

Serotek is undergoing some changes to better meet your needs as a digital
consumer. The assistive technology industry has been shifting for a while
now, and it would be foolish to believe yesterday’s formula will continue
to work in today’s age of wearable technology, smart homes, and
 interconnected media.

Understandably, there may be questions about the longevity of the
products and services you have come to rely on. For years Serotek has
thought outside the box to deliver the most affordable solutions with the
best customer and product support, and there are no plans to reverse this
pattern of innovation to meet you where you need us.

Network, arguably one of the leading content providers on all things

alongside its parent company.

Handling an issue in iOS 8.1.1 where you can't type screen unlock code, phone number or a text message with a Bluetooth keyboard

2014-11-24 Thread Ein Lee
Briefly, if you cannot type into your iPhone with a Bluetooth keyboard,
temporarily turn off the quick navigation option.

When the quick navigation option is on in iOS 8.1.1, no typing of digits or
text can be done to text field. You need to activate the text field first
to turn it off. When the screen is locked, however, there's no way to
activate the input text field for the unlock code. Thus, to be able to type
the unlock code, you need to manually turn off the quick navigation option,
then type the unlock code, and then turn it on again for your convenience.
FYI, the option can be toggled on and off with L1 and B7 combination with a
RiVO keyboard, and the left and the right key combination with a normal
Bluetooth keyboard.

Likewise when you want to type phone numbers directly in the Keypad tab of
Phone app, you cannot activate the input text field for phone numbers. You
need to do the same procedure as above. If it still doesn't work out, try
switching to other tabs like Recents tab, and then back to Keypad tab
again. It has been a long-lasting iOS bug.

Sometimes when you cannot type text into a text field after activating it,
iOS seems to have a bug not to turn off the quick navigation option when
you activate the text field. In this case you may follow the same procedure
as above.

The above can be found in the RiVO Troubleshooting Guide
http://goo.gl/APVJWn as well as some other issues you might have while
using the RiVO keyboard or any other Bluetooth keyboard.

Thanks.
Have a good day.

Ein

Logitech keyboard

2014-11-24 Thread Juliette Swiler
I am trying to use a full-sized wireless Logitech solar powered keyboard with
my Mac. However, I seem to have found a couple of issues. First, when I am in
Duxbury on the Windows side, and press control F4 to close a document, it does
not work. Instead, it brings up the global printer setup dialogue. And from the
Mac side, pressing VO F8 to open VoiceOver utility also does not work as it is
supposed to, or as it does using the laptop keyboard. Are there any fixes for
this? Thanks.

big thank-you

2014-11-24 Thread Juliette Swiler
I just wanted to thank whomever suggested that I go into the virtual machine
menu and select the connect printer portt option. I got the embosser working as
soon as I fixed the option that for some reason had the printer trying to send
the print jobs to the Mac rather than Windows. All is well now. My only
aggravation now is that every time I open a previously created document, I have
to reformat it. So I guess it isn’t exactly accurate that these embossers can
only be used exclusively on boot camp.

using NFB Newsline with Safari

2014-11-24 Thread Juliette Swiler
HI all,
Has anyone used the web news on demand section in NFB Newsline with Safari? I
seem to be having trouble. Once I read an article, if I press command left
bracket to go back a page, it gives me two or three pages of blank text before
going back to the home page, in which case I am logged out, and have to log
back in for every article I want to read. Any thoughts?

Hi Pamela,

The image this entity has garnered with its social platform is probably just as
important as its initial tech goals, but some were more likely to disband due
to internal pressure. Who is the expert for the synthesis engine is the
