Hi!
You can do a review on the app store.
This is read by both the devs and apple.

Hi Listers,

I’m looking for some advise regarding a currently inaccessible app on my IOS
devices.

The app is the Microsoft RDP client which as it is is very accessible until you
make a remote connection to a machine in which any accessibility features go
out the window or down the shute depending on how you look at it.

I’m wondering how best to go about contacting the developers to ask if they can
include a screen reader type feature to read out the remote connection window
content?

Can anyone give any ideas on how this would be best done?

I’m hoping that doing this might lead to getting apple to do something similar
from the IOS platform to a remote OSX connection.

Much thanks for any assistance you can provide.

RE: Requesting a Little Support via Twitter

2017-02-21 Thread Simon Fogarty
Just a question re USA mobile networks,

Do you guys have companys that cover the intire country with their network or
does your connection depend on which state / city / timezone your in?

I mean ok NZ is a rather small nation and we have approx. 4 mobile providers
and I can use my Vodafone connection in 97% of the country and roam for free to
austrailia and I think $5 per day in the usa,

But do you guys have a network that covers the whole country or does it depend?

Just asking as a mater of interest

Just throwing it out there but if I were you depending on the phone you have
now I’d get myself a T-Mobile 14 day trial SIM and a Verizon 14 day trial sim
(trial periods may vary) and give them a test drive. Leave your AT active so
you have a safety net in case you have service issues and give the others a
test drive. Pick the one that feels best through out your day.

Hi Erik,

Thabnks for that, I’ll put your information to good use I hope and will let you

Hi, The regular channel is an app detales page where generally you will find
an email address useful for contacting an app developer directly.
Unfortunately, my experience with microsoft is that you will get an
autoresponder alerting you that the email address on the store is not
monitored.

Microsoft has an accessibility phone number. Unfortunately, when I called it
to address accessibility issues with a microsoft app I was told the
accessibility department only handles desktop computing issues. I was shuffled
around to two or three other people before I got fed up of repeeting myself and
getting stonewalled.

I left a less than favourable review. Two months later some one responded to
me directly on the play store as my particular product is android based. Then
I could not find a way to respond back to their comment, which amounted to them
saying "do you still have the problem?", and my attempting to say, "Yes of
course, It's not going to go away on it's own".

Most developers are very responsive, even if the response is merely "we don't
care about accessibility and have no plans to improve it". Microsoft is a
different animal.

If any one has managed to get through to some one at microsoft to talk about
accessibility of it's mobile apps, I would love to know how you did it.

Best,

Erik

Re: Finereader Pro

2017-02-21 Thread Terje Strømberg
You can also after the first scan, like suggested, convert without scanning
again every time.

1. Open Fine Reader Pro
2. Interact with the first table where mac and scanner is named. Make sure the
voice over focus is on the mac. Not the scanner.
3. Chose a formatø pdf, word, excel etc.
4. Fine Reader opens Finder. Find the document. It may take a minute or a while
before the convert is done. The same window where you chose name and
destinations for saving pops up.

Looks like the difference is that you chose mac instead of scanner and don’t
scan.

Take care

When I'm scanning a multi-page document, I listen to the noise that the scanner
makes. Once it's scanned the page and I can hear that it's going back, I start
turning the page.

Re: Finereader how to change resolution and also how to add characters that don't scan appropriately

2017-02-21 Thread Scott Berry
Hello there,

I have two questions concerning Finereader.

1. How do I change resolution so that all pages get scanned in the case that
some pages do not get scanned.

2. How do I add corrections for characters that do not scan correctly. I know
like in K1000 and Openbook this is possible but don’t know if so in FR.

Re: Mail app

2017-02-21 Thread Jonathan Cohn
This is something you enable on folders in the finder. Right click the
folder and near the bottom should be a folder actions area. Once you enable
folder actions you can enable one or more script files to be associated
with the folder. The first one listed by default is create a dialog box
announcing new files. If this is for the downloads file, you might want to
disable announcement for files with the extension download

Re: Requesting a Little Support via Twitter

2017-02-21 Thread Scott Granados
Just throwing it out there but if I were you depending on the phone you have
now I’d get myself a T-Mobile 14 day trial SIM and a Verizon 14 day trial sim
(trial periods may vary) and give them a test drive. Leave your AT active so
you have a safety net in case you have service issues and give the others a
test drive. Pick the one that feels best through out your day.

Mark, you really should switch, vote with your money. Although certainly
speaking up over social media is a good move. A lot * of money * has been
spent to build out the networks recently and will continue to be over 2017.

Re: Finereader Pro

2017-02-21 Thread E.T.

Hi Andrew,
Yes the export was what I needed, was looking for a convert option
which is why I did not think to try export. Works wonderfully and tried
2 different formats to see which was the best.

I keep the Finereader documents until i know they are no longer needed.

Requesting a Little Support via Twitter

2017-02-21 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I just used my iOS Twitter app to tweet the following in requesting that A T
& T Wireless reconsider its current policy of not including hot spot
tethering with its new unlimited data plan.

Some of you have asked me, off list, how to compose a meaningful tweet with
such a seemingly restrictive 140-160 character limit. Well, here is an
example that I hope will give you some ideas on how it can be accomplished:

[BEGIN TWEET]
Extremely disappointed that @ATT, @ATTCares does not include #HotSpot
#tethering with its new #UnlimitedData plan. Please reconsider.
[END TWEET]

Also, I am requesting that you please either find my original tweet at
http://twitter.com/markmarcus or by signing into Twitter and locating my
Twitter page at simply @MarkMarcus, and retweeting my request or compose
your own tweet, on this subject, being certain to include both @ATT and
@ATTCares in the body of your tweet.

On behalf of all of us loyal A T & T Wireless subscribers, whose cell
coverage would decline were we to switch to a different wireless provider, I
thank you most kindly.

Mark

Hi,

Yes, it's possible, but it's probably most beneficial to determine first what
is using up the majority of your space. To learn this, go into System
Preferences, iCloud and look at the breakdown of what is being used in your
storage. Things like iCloud Backups, App data, Photos etc. Once you know what
is the primary cause, we can go from there.

Re: ICloud music library discrepancies

2017-02-21 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

When in iTunes on your Mac, make sure the Music View is by list. Interact with
the Music table, then VO-right to the column just to the right of the song
title. It should read something like "Local" or "Download" and/or a few other
choices. Press VO-shift-back slash to bring VO focus to the Headers for these
columns. and VO-space on the "iCloud Download" column heading. Press
VO-shift-back slash again to take VO focus out of the headers. Now you should
be able to quickly go through the songs navigating down that specific column.
If it reads "Download" or "Local", then the song is part of your iCloud Music
Library and is either locally stored on your Mac, or available for download
from iCloud. If it reads "Duplicate", then you have multiple copies of the
same song. If it reads "Ineligible", then it is not in a format that is
compatible with the iCloud Music Library. You should be able to determine the
discrepancies from this and go from there.

Later...

Re: contacting app developers

2017-02-21 Thread Erik Burggraaf
Hi, The regular channel is an app detales page where generally you will
find an email address useful for contacting an app developer directly.
Unfortunately, my experience with microsoft is that you will get an
autoresponder alerting you that the email address on the store is not
monitored.

Microsoft has an accessibility phone number. Unfortunately, when I called
it to address accessibility issues with a microsoft app I was told the
accessibility department only handles desktop computing issues. I was
shuffled around to two or three other people before I got fed up of
repeeting myself and getting stonewalled.

I left a less than favourable review. Two months later some one responded
to me directly on the play store as my particular product is android based.
Then I could not find a way to respond back to their comment, which
amounted to them saying "do you still have the problem?", and my attempting
to say, "Yes of course, It's not going to go away on it's own".

Most developers are very responsive, even if the response is merely "we
don't care about accessibility and have no plans to improve it". Microsoft
is a different animal.

If any one has managed to get through to some one at microsoft to talk
about accessibility of it's mobile apps, I would love to know how you did it.

Best,

Erik

I'm wondering how best to go about contacting the developers to ask if they
can include a screen reader type feature to read out the remote connection
window content?

Can anyone give any ideas on how this would be best done?

I'm hoping that doing this might lead to getting apple to do something
similar from the IOS platform to a remote OSX connection.

Much thanks for any assistance you can provide.
