Re: How to delete an e-mail address from dropdown in To field of Mac Mail

2021-05-18 Thread Kevin Gibbs
Brad,

Did all that. It worked to a point. The old address is deleted from that
window. However, when I go about typing a new e-mail, I see both the new and
old e-mail addresses because I have several old e-mails which were sent to that
old address before it was hacked and changed. So, I guess I just have to be
aware. I have tested this successfully with a misspelled e-mail address where
I don’t have any e-mails sent there to. In that case, all worked perfectly.
So, just have to be careful. Drag.

Re: How to delete an e-mail address from dropdown in To field of Mac Mail

2021-05-18 Thread Brad Snyder
You can delete your friend’s old email address from the Previous Recipients
list.
To access this list, do the following:
1. While in the Mac’s mail app, go to the Menu Bar > Windows, and arrow down
to Previous Recipients, and press Enter.
2. Once in the Previous Recipients dialogue, VoiceOver focus should be in a
Search edit field, where you can type the first few letters of your friend’s
old email address.
3. Now, press the Tab key, or VO + Right Arrow to the list of Search results,
where you should find your friend’s old email address, and maybe other search
results.
4. When you have located the address you wish to remove from the list, press
the Delete key.

That’s it.

Figured out how to delete previous recipient. Unfortunately, that deletion
doesn't work if you ever sent an e-mail to the address you want gone. too
bad.

Just want to say thanks Brad and Harry for trying to help. I’ve looked in

sounds in Mail. So I guess tomorrow I’ll call Apple Accessibility.

Re: I don't seem to have a deleted messages or Trash mailbox for iCloud on New Mac.

2021-05-18 Thread Karen Lewellen

Donna,
Just wondering, but were those mailboxes part of the user account you
spoke of deleting earlier?
If so, might that be why you cannot recover those older mailboxes, the
user account is gone?

Just a question from the peanut gallery,
Karen

2021-05-18 Thread John Panarese
There should only be one column in the Mailbox table. There should be
account headings for each series of mailboxes where you can use VO-backslash to
collapse or expand the mailbox group. You might find additional areas as well
based on your setup.

Re: I don't seem to have a deleted messages or Trash mailbox for iCloud on New Mac.

2021-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi John,

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always thought mail in Big Sur is unnecessarily
convoluted. I have two columns that list mailboxes. Neither seems to let me
collapse or expand accounts. One column is labeled Mailboxes, so I assume it
is the mailbox list. The other column, which also has names of mailboxes,
doesn’t seem to have a label.

I don’t know if any of this makes sense, but if you could give me some
direction on how to collapse some of this, I would really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: I don't seem to have a deleted messages or Trash mailbox for iCloud on New Mac.

2021-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Jonathan,

Ok, I followed these steps and made all of my mailboxes disappear. I have no
idea how, and I don't seem to be able to get them back. Now what?

Go to your mailbox table and interact. Go up to where it says, Favorites.
There should be an, Add, button there. You might have to interact again, but

I don't seem to have a deleted messages or Trash mailbox for iCloud on New Mac.

2021-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

These mailboxes just don’t seem to have been created, despite the fact that I
have deleted messages. The messages I’ve deleted seem to have just vanished,
despite the fact that my mail prefs were set not to erase deleted messages for
a month. Anyone have any idea what’s up?
TIA,
Donna

Re: VO not coming on at Startup on new MBA

2021-05-18 Thread 'Harry Bell' via MacVisionaries
If you have enabled FileVault, if you do set up VoiceOver to come in at login,
there is a bug affecting M1 Mac mini at least; VoiceOver does not land in the
password box and is unresponsive. You have to turn VoiceOver off and back on
again. Apple accessibility is looking for a fix.

Re: VO not coming on at Startup on new MBA

2021-05-18 Thread Brad Snyder
Here is what you need to do to set up VO to start at the logon screen:
1. Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
2. In the, "Users, groups and login options" List” table, select, “Login
Options”, from the table.
3. You should select the lock so you can make changes, in order to continue.
4. Navigate to the "Accessibility Options” button, and press VO + Space to
activate.
5. Now, select the accessibility features you would like to enable at login,
and select the Apply button.

That should do it.
HTH.

Well,
Sometimes, I wait about ten seconds.
If not, command f5 worked.
I just created a user name and password for the Mac and then brought my phone
to the Mac.
Once I signed into both accounts, everything just works.

VO not coming on at Startup on new MBA

2021-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

On new MBA, VO does not come on at start up. I can bring up the recovery
system voice in order to log in, but I would like VO to start at log in like it
has in the past. I’ve looked in VO utility and system prefs, but don’t see a
setting that would address this. Any ideas?
TIA,
Donna

Too many import folder being created

2021-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

For various reasons, I’m importing my saved mailboxes separately. Trouble is,
every time I import one, Mail is creating a new import folder. So, I have
Import with one mailbox in it. Import 2 with one mailbox in it, Import 3, and
so on. How do I move all these mailboxes into one folder, and then delete the
extraneous Import folders?
TIA,
Donna

Subject: Update on new Mac

Good morning, all,

I’m happy to write with good news.

My new M1 MBA arrived yesterday. Though I’m not done migrating everything yet,
all is working well. I actually did migrate data using a newer time machine
backup, and was greatly relieved when doing that didn’t sabotage Voiceover. But
I ended up deciding that Brad was right. Even just bringing over files, it
still brought a bunch of junk with it. So I ended up deleting that user
account, and just going with the account I’d created when I set up the MBA as a
new Mac, and migrating everything manually. Thank goodness for iCloud! :)

This is much more like the Apple experience I’ve come to know and love.
Cheers,
Donna
