Re: A Question for Apple Music Subscribers, Using Apple Music on both iOS and iTunes, Regarding Custom Radio Stations

Seeking help with opening Safari iCloud tabs
I want to access tabs that are open on my iPhone with Safari on my Mac. In the toolbar I find the show all tabs button. Activating this button does indeed present a scroll area showing the tabs open on my phone. The problem is that I can’t activate the desired tab on my Mac. I’ve tried VO spacebar, VO mouse click and a physical mouse click on the trackpad after routing the mouse to the VO curser. I’ve done this in the past, but can’t get it to work now. Re: performing an option click on a control?
I was able to perform a downgrade from 8.4 back to 8.3 using option click, without DFU. Do you have any idea why sometimes DEFU is necessary and other instances it's not? The original poster has it correct, you can just Option-click the Check for Updates button, which brings up an open file dialog. Re: Using the messages app
This can be a mystery. I've found two options that help, but no guarantee. The first is the o'l sign in and out of Messages on all devices, maybe even restart . The second is to have each device sending with the same caller ID. I've found that if one device is sending with my phone number, and another is sending with my email as the ID, messages may not sync as well. Re: HBO Now on iPhone 5S
This is what I've managed with sighted assistance. If you slide your finger above the title of the program you wish to play, voiceover doesn't say anything, but there is a picture. Re: file conversion question
You can leave the files in their current format if you want to. You can place them in a playlist, or not. Simply select your DVS tracks and then select get info. In the options tab you can check a box that says skip when shuffling. Re: Chapters in audio books in iOS 7
For what it's worth, my wife is sighted, and she is disappointed by this chapter behavior as well. Brett C. On Sep 28, 2013, at 1:10 PM, Nicholas Parsons mr.nicholas.pars...@gmail.com wrote: HI Jürgen, You're right, I'm sorry. Before sending you that last email I saw the track list button but didn't press it. Later that night I was reading an audiobook and tried using it, but it only showed me the audio files, not the chapters/tracks. In my case it was a book from audible which was in two parts (that is, two files) which were each divided into chapters. After tapping the title, I could see the two parts/files. Annoyingly, VoiceOver read out the length of each file before the name, which is a change (and a bad one) since iOS6. Once I started playing one of these files I could use the next and previous buttons to skip through chapters/tracks. However, tapping the track list button merely brought up the two parts/files, not the chapters. More annoyingly still, the time scrubber thing now shows the time for the entire file, not just the chapter. This is another change since iOS6. In iOS6 it would just show the time for the current track, now it has the time for the whole file. As the time for the whole file is longer, so the increments it skips are larger when you flick up or down. So for me, I could skip forward and back by 15-30 seconds using the buttons either side of the play/pause button, or skip forward/back by one hour blocks with the scrubber. This discrepancy made it really difficult to find my place in the book. I think this is worth writing to Apple accessibility about and explaining the affect this has on VoiceOver users. I presume it's fine for sighted people as they can probably just touch the scrubber at the point they wish to be, whereas VoiceOver users have to flick up and down by set increments. This is really disappointing as one of the reasons I loved my iPod and iPhone was the awesome way in which Apple handled the playing of audiobooks. For the record, I continue to use the 2-finger double-tap to end the dictation just as I do when using Siri to end my dictation. Also, the reason you sometimes hear a keyboard style VoiceOver feedback is because, underneath the Air dictate screen which simply displays the Dictate and Done buttons, respectively, is because, they are using their interface on top of a normal virtual keyboard input screen. Please also be aware that, even for non-VoiceOver users, the App is not consistently stable; I am convinced, however, that it can be made completely accessible with VoiceOver if enough of us contact the developers. Re: has anyone seriously messed with Keynote?
Hi Anne, You guys did a great job with the podcast, however the approach seems to be taken from the point of view that the listener has knowledge of what goes into the creation of a Keynote presentation. Re: best way to handle mail in the new layout?
Thanks for your ideas. I have a question. When I try to remove a box I added to the favorites bar, I use VO comma to select it for drag, and get the message Inbox - Blog is not draggable. VoiceOver will not drag item that has press action.. Blog is just the name of the box I'm trying to remove. Do you see this? Brett C. On Jul 23, 2011, at 6:20 PM, Tim Kilburn wrote: Hi all, In playing with various things in Mail's new view, you may be interested in these ideas that I have found. They work for me and have sped up navigation in Mail considerably. You are welcome to use whatever works for you and ignore anything that doesn't fit your frame of mind. The two things I'll touch on here are use of the Favourites bar and Conversations. Favourites: • You can put your favourite Mailboxes into the Favourites bar by dragging and dropping them there. • The order they appear in the Favourites bar allows you to use the cmd key to quickly get to specific boxes. That is, the first item in the Favourite bar would be cmd-1, the second would be cmd-2 and so on. • When you drop something into the Favourites bar, it will land just after or to the right of the item you are focused on. • You can use this method to re-order items in the Favourites bar. • To remove an unwanted item from the Favourites bar, simply drag it off. That is, grab it and release it outside of the Favourites bar. I just drop it on the divider and its gone. • Now with minimal keystrokes, I can get between Mailboxes and right after I press cmd-1 for example, VO automatically brings focus to the Messages area where I can just use up and down arrows to navigate. • I also do not need the Mailboxes list shown either unless I wish to get to a less used Mailbox. It is easy to Show/Hide by pressing cmd-shift-m. Conversations: Not perfect yet but much easier for me using the following: • Arrow up or down and let VO announce the message and how many messages in the Conversation. • I just press return when I wish to read stuff in that Conversation. The problem is that it always reads the newest one first and suggestions to fix that haven't worked for me as I prefer my Messages Table to have the newest at the top and my Conversations to have the oldest at the top. • anyway, to get around this, I Stop Interacting with the Message content, then if I VO-left arrow through the messages in the Conversation, it does the trick. • If I press cmd-w, it closes the entire conversation. Hope this helps some of you. Any other ideas are welcome.
