Re: back up failed

2015-11-21 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hello Zoe.

I don’t see anyone on this list saying that you are worthless or that you
should get lost.

I do know however, learning the mac is a hands on thing. Now, I don’t use the
mac 24 7 because I have to use Windows on a daily basis because of me working.

I would say however, learning the Mac is a learning curve. When I started on
the Mac in 2010, I only had a week where I could sit next to someone and learn
a few commands which enabled me to use the Mac. After that, I was very much on
my own. I still get guidance from another member on the list.

>From experience of this list, there are lots of kind people who will help you
>and everyone here will support you in what ever way you need it.

Kindest regards,

Kawal.

david woodbridges podcast on mavricks, other applevis resourses etc. The
problem is my iMac or voiceover is not listening to my keyboard commands.
I'm not stupid, things are not working correctly. I don't claim to be a

text edit but not in pages has nothing to do with me pressing wrong keys or

the various lists some of the same people sending tons of messages on one

Zoey,

I wouldn’t ask you to pay right now for training. Eventually, being this is
my job, I’m not going to lie to you, I probably would have to start
charging, but I’d be absolutely more than happy to at least give you a few

No. The USB key really is too slow for a backup device, although it might
work for that. I’m suggesting simply that you ensure that the files you

Don’t format that disk and don’t use it for Time Machine yet. Get a copy of
your data onto a second external drive first. That USB key will probably do
just what you want.

Time Machine wants Mac OS X Extended volumes for backups. That means
destroying any existing data on the device. Moreover, Time Machine wants to
consume as much space as there is available, so sharing Time Machine with other
uses is not a good idea.

When you’re up and running with El Capitan, shove your important stuff onto
iCloud Drive, where you can’t accidentally format the drive.

Don’t rush into anything. There is a tomorrow. :)

Re: back up failed

2015-11-20 Thread Chris Gilland
That can be done in Disk Utility, but yeah, if you have a lot of data on the
drive, then you’d definitely not want to go that avenue… especially not if you
plan to use the drive both on Windows, and also on the mac. Sounds like at
this point, you’re unfortunately kind of in a catch 22 situation.

Chris.

RE: back up failed

2015-11-20 Thread Zoe Fiogkos
First of all I don’t know how to do that. Second of all I have a lot of files
on there that I use on my windows pc. That’s why I tried to install the drive
on the mac and when it said option for mac and pc I said yes but unfortunately
it says something like about paragon and that it’s not compatable. So now I’m
stuck again. Don’t know what to do.
