Re: Magic Trackpad
The easiest way to rotate in my opinion and came to known as my preference is by placing thumb and your first finger and rotating it quite firmly. If you are use to rotor from iOS the method seem to be similar but a bit upscaled for that size of a trackpad. Re: Magic Trackpad
Sounds really interesting. But the price. Twice what I paid for the older one. But yes, the old one is hard to be sure its actually on. Would have to check in Bluetooth prefs for that. I spent some time doing this until I was sure it was functioning. Then I learned that even with Enable Trackpad checked in VO Utility, you still need to turn it on with the VO 2 finger rotate. I’ll be honest, when I got mine, it was more in the name of completeness than necessity, and although I like pairing and charging by Lightning cable, I’d have no real difficulty going back to my old one. Having said that, I do now make quite extensive use of the tactile power switch, where in the past I’d have difficulty telling whether it was on or off. The keyboard is more interesting, because pairing can be done non-interactively over USB. Both devices can also use USB with Bluetooth off, which effectively means that they are USB keyboards/trackpads when not using Bluetooth. Weirdly, the 2015 MacBook Pro also has the 3D Touch feature, but it originally came with Yosemite. The truly cool thing about 3D Touch is that you can actually control whether or not the clicking sound is made, and whether or not multiple levels are in effect. It is truly mind-blowing to press on the trackpad while it is off, then while it is on, and then while “Silent clicking” is in effect; the entire haptic experience of the thing is simulated using a motor that produces the vibrations at each level and with the necessary oomph as the trackpad is squeezed. Amazing. For the first hour, I just played with it, trying to understand how the simulation could be so utterly perfect. I had a really hard time of it, too, because it really was perfect. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. The newer track pad is more like the new touch pad of the mac book pros. It's also solid and thinner with no need for batteries as it's rechargeable with a lightening connector along the back edge. Re: Magic Trackpad
Hang on. Did you say you’re using Yosemite and also the new Magic Trackpad 2? This is relevant because the requirements for the newest Magic Trackpad include at least El Capitan. Also relevant because I’ll soon be back on Yosemite and will see for myself what the effect of using the new MT on Yosemite is. I can assure you it works just fine on El Cap. Thankfully I have the older model of trackpad too, just in case I need it on Yosemite. Check this: https://sixcolors.com/post/2015/10/using-the-magic-trackpad-2-on-older-macs/ Might be good news. Re: Magic Trackpad
Hi, Do you have the track pad commander turned on? You can find it under the vo utility(vo f8), then go down to commanders, pick the track pad tab, and then go through there and set it up as you like. To turn on track pad commander after you set it up, hit the vo keys and then make the rotor gesture on the track pad itself. You will hear a litle noise and vo will say track pad commander on. hth, Caitlyn > On Mar 1, 2016, at 6:40 PM, E.T.wrote: > > Its been ages since I had this connected. Set it up as it should be. Then, on the trackpad, do a 2 finger clockwise rotate to enable the trackpad commander. It does not matter the commander is already enabled in VO Utility. I haven't seen one of these, but the Apple logo makes me immediately think you simply have the trackpad upside down. Flip it over so the other surface is facing up, and see what happens. again, this might be completely wrong, but it's my first thought and the easiest to test. Re: Magic Trackpad
Hi, I don't find the trackpad commander hard to use at all. Its rather simple in my opinion. Its just not as practical depending on what app your in, and then how much customization you have done to your trackpad commander. For web browsing for example, its great. Its the exact same interface like navigating the web on the iPhone. But for going through a text document, I think its easier to just keep your hands on the keyboard. I also like the track pad commander in iTunes. Ricardo Walker rwalker...@gmail.com Twitter, Skype, and AIM: rwalker296 www.mobileaccess.org On May 31, 2011, at 12:17 AM, Shawn Krasniuk wrote: Hi. Re: Magic Trackpad
It is, as someone correctly pointed out, great to use both. Trackpad is great for browsing and exploring the screen whereas the keyboard is great for typing and performing action while you are typing. One great thing about Trackpad is that you can define your own custom gestures. MacOS has its own appeal, not to be compared to Windows7. A smart computer user these days should probably have both. :) Vic On May 29, 8:22 pm, Pete Nalda lpna...@gmail.com wrote: Fwiw I find the trackpad more like the VO user experience of my iPad. Re: Magic Trackpad
Max, just chipping in my own two pence worth here. I have now since making the switch, or as I prefer to say, Mac-ing the switch, get it! :) bought an iMac, MacBook Air and an MacBook Pro. the first thing to say about your observation is, unless things are done differently where you are, Apple will sell you an iMac, this is their all in one desktop solution, with a wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse, you cannot dump the mouse. You then though can choose to add the Magic Track Pad to that order, but you cannot per say trade it for the Magic Mouse. So what I'm saying here is if you ask Apple for the Magic Track Pad, you're going to have both the Magic Track Pad and Magic Mouse. This is not a bad thing, my sighted wife uses our iMac as do our little ones, and sometimes I spot them using the TP and other times the Mouse, the nice thing about the TP is that it is a large surface track pad, far bigger than on the portables and as such, is comfortable for use on a lap etc. The iMac can happily handle having all three input devices connected at the same time so there's no worries there. On a more Voice Over note, its like a lot of people have already said to you, on my three Machines I primarily use the keyboard, this is ergonomics, moving a knuckle up and down is less strain then your wrist to swipe all over the shop. So you get less ache and discomfort from the keyboard for prolonged use periods. However, the TP does make exploring web-sites more intuitive or simple to get your head round layouts etc, and it can be nice to rest your knuckles every so often. without any doubt though, I am far quicker using my keyboard over my TP on an overall bases. I would say that if you're investing in a Mac, an additional $99 is hardly worth worrying about given the overall comparative expense, go ahead, put one of those things in your cart, they are of use after all. One final note, if you're used to the iPHone, iPod Touch or iPad, then the TP also makes additional sense, especially if you're converting from a PC, as you can migrate your existing understanding of controls immediately to your Mac experience. hope that this helps. Re: magic trackpad in cambodia
By the way, I think theres some really nice things that can be done with this trackpad. We've made some stencils for several applications such as DJ whereas we overlay the surface of the trackpad with a thin rubber which defines all the important parts of the interface. In the case of DJ, scratching has become a whole new game, and mixing is no problem with the trackpad. There is certainly a cost for doing this, but very well worth it. Will report on some more interesting stencils to make. Cheers Yuma DX® -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. RE: Magic Trackpad
This is true, but and important thing to know is that the Magic Track Pad is 80% larger than the MacBook track pad, which is already quite a bit larger than the typical laptop track pad. VO is easier to work with the MacBook track pad than with the iPhone, due to the increased size, and I expect that the Magic Track Pad will be even easier. I expect that the Magic Track Pad, since it works over blue tooth, will make the ideal remote control for the new rumored Apple TV box, when/if it comes out. Chriss Moore told me about it but I didn't expect it to be available until September. Since it is, I went ahead and ordered it. It is supposed to be here by August 3rd.
