You should have considered these issues in advance, and introducing another please change your settings to users just looks a little unprofessional so soon after the EABI change (which we all agree was worthwhile, but the users don't think they see the benefit). I suppose the only redeeming feature would be that there aren't *many* projects yet using contrib. However if you were going to do any such change, make the settings more clear for a user: * make sure the settings match those provided by default by the AM * if free non-free doesn't match the defaults, make it as simple as possible. Why does the Debian distinction need to apply here, given the limited data entry on a Maemo device? I don't see how this would affect the firmware image because contrib/extras repo is not configured there by default. It seems there was a typo in the URLs in Devesh's mail. I guess it should be http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ instead of ...extra/ ?? Anyways, I feel that this slight reorganization is needed and to me it's not that big of a deal. Hi, Devesh Kothari wrote: Proposal to streamline maemo repos. PLEASE give your feedback and concerns If anyone can improve or shoot this down, then it is YOU. Proposal: 1. To change the name of the contrib repository name to extras Reasons that's useful to reduce confusion in future but i'm not sure is it is really that important, if i remember correctly Familiar 0.9 is expected to use the same name for a feed to be used by external contributors. It might be a good idea to keep the old name for a while as a link/copy for the users not following the mailinglist discussions. It is really important to avoid breaking things for less experiences end users.
