My guess was just that it moves messages to the “Archive” folder, which Gmail
interprets as the “[Gmail]/Archive]” label. But I don’t really know.

Thanks for the suggestions: this time around it did load. I added the “All
Mail” “Important” and “Starred” subscriptions, which got the missing messages
in, but then added some messages in duplicate (Starred) and triplicate (Starred
and Important). So I removed the gmail source, and added it back. Same
initial problem. This time I just subscribed to “All Mail” and now it all
looks good.

Thank you, Henry and Eric, for making my first post such a friendly and helpful
experience!

Great question. Emails in Gmail (web interface) with the label
“[Gmail]/Archive” also appear in Mailmate. Emails without the
label don’t appear in Mailmate.

I believe Mailmate assigns that label. My guess is that I archived
those emails myself in the Gmail mobile app, which put them somewhere
Mailmate can’t access (perhaps Gmail’s mysterious-to-me “All
Mail”).

Hmm, I doubt MM would have done assigned that (or any) label. I've been
using MM with gmail for years, and I don't have any "Archive" label.

I suspect your issue has more to do with the subscription settings
you're having trouble loading.

Did you look in IMAP Preferences settings or Edit Subscriptions
(File>Edit IMAP Settings>Edit Subscriptions), any of those unchecked
mailboxes?

When I open it, I see the ‘Subscriptions for
“[myemail]@gmail.com”’ dialogue, but the list never populates -
the loading spinner doesn’t stop, even after several minutes. The
dialogue does load for this (non-Gmail) email account. Can other’s
load the subscriptions for their Gmail accounts?

Yes, and it takes only a second or two for mine to load. I do have the
"ignore server subscription state for private namespaces" option
selected in the subscription pane.

I suspect your problem is related to this inability to load or control
your gmail subscriptions. Some general things to try:

- Wait longer for the subscription list to load. Walk away for 1/2 hour
or so and come back and check.
- Check your "IMAP access" settings in the gmail web interface. Make
sure IMAP access is enabled. Sounds silly, but who knows?

- Completely remove and re-add your gmail account in MM.

I suspect that once you get the subscription list to load, you'll be
able to control exactly what MM shows. FWIW, I subscribe to all the
mailboxes listed, except the "[Gmail]/All Mail" one.

Can’t say that I’ve had that issue with Gmail accounts and I do
have a couple. So that’s what to check first. Working backward from
where it is, surely you find it… It’s always the last place you
look;)) Not trying to be flip, but I have seen this before in problem
solving.

This was very helpful. My workaround for the time being will be to
not archive messages outside of Mailmate.

If anyone has insight into the folder subscriptions not loading, or
other solutions for this, I’d appreciate it. I’m tech savvy but
the nuance of IMAP has always been a little unwieldy for me.

I can relate! There's IMAP, and there's gmail's version of IMAP, which
has its own level of "nuance". Mapping gmail's labels to IMAP mailboxes
is just not a perfect fit.

Good luck!

[MlMt] Link for viewing attachments

2022-08-11 Thread Antonio Leding
I recently upgraded to Monterey which necessitated a MM update to v5895.
In the new MM version, I see that attachments are no longer
represented as links within messages.

I loved this feature so a couple questions here:

* Can this older behavior be enabled somehow?

* If not, is this gone forever?___

[MlMt] Mail alert sound issue - v5895 on Monterey

Hello all…

Is anyone having an issue with the EM arrival alert sound not playing properly
with v5895 on Monterey? I initially thought this was system wide problem but
my sound alerts work fine elsewhere so I think this is a MM issue…

Re: [MlMt] r5907 and Group Address completion [r5908?]

2022-08-11 Thread Henry Seiden

Hi Benny,

Thanks for comments. I take it you mean have a look at r5908 as that’s
the latest Test Build? Looks like 5908 specifically initially addresses
the issue about multiple Emails in contacts which I’m pretty sure
we’ve all experienced in one form or another.

It looks like the Bundles preferences you mention is specific for Busy
Calendar Bundles. It may be that we’re confusing Groups, Bundles and
(now in Busy Contacts) Tags. Tags in Busy Contacts migrates Groups in
Apple’s Contacts as well as for standalone purposes.

Please explain your views on the three and how you intend it to work,
specifically in MailMate.

I’m not understanding if you mean we should immediately implement the
command using Terminal, connecting Busy Contacts’ data as you specify:
 *“defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmDefaultAddressBook -string
com.busymac.busycontacts”*

Once I understanding your intentions, will decide what to do.

A Mailmate-Busy Contacts linkage would be wonderful.

I haven't read the all of this thread, but MailMate does have support
for Busy Contacts using bundles (see the Bundles preferences pane).

There's also some support (which I think still works) to make View/Add
work directly with Busy Contacts:

defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmDefaultAddressBook -string
com.busymac.busycontacts

With respect to recent issues with groups in Contacts, I'd appreciate
feedback if there are any issues with the latest test release (just
write me directly off list). The previous issues were about
missing/duplicate contacts when expanding groups.

The latest test release adds support for changing the email address of
a recipient found in Contacts if it has multiple email addresses. This
is in the context sensitive menu of each recipient. This new feature
might also mean new bugs ;-)

The latest test release should be able to handle duplicate group names
(in different accounts).
