MI-L Mapinfo ODBC

2000-11-22 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi list

This in reference with my previous mail to Open ODBC Table in Mapinfo.

Now the problem i face is that the table when opened in mapinfo,
display a msg that the table is read-only, even though i have unselected
the read-only option in the Step 4 of Open ODBC Table wizard. I want to
geocode this data file with a village map. I am able to make the table
mappable and even displays the mapper window. but in the layer control
dialog, the editable option is disabled. In Geocode Dialog, I am not
able to get the data file in the 'Geocode table', instead is listed in
Search table and the village map is listed in the 'Geocode table'. I
think the problem lies in the read-only.

Please advice.

Thanks in advance

Kumar

MI-L Mapinfo ODBC

2000-11-06 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi everyone

I want to open an Oracle database in mapinfo. I have the database
created in Personal Oracle 7. Both Mapinfo Personal Oracle are
installed in the same system. I created the user DSN from the ODBC data
source administrator. I tried to open the database from the OPEN ODBC
Table option in Mapinfo selecting the data source created, immediately a
dialog box opens prompting for Server name, User name password. As
database is in the same system, what is the server name i should give?

I gave the database name in the server text box but an error msg popups
- "[INTERSOLV][ODBC ORACLE DRIVER][ORACLE]ORA-01017: INVALID
USERNAME/PASSWORD;LOGON DENIED".

Pls suggest me ..

Thanks in advance
Kumar

MI Mapx Geodictionary

2000-08-07 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi List

I recently upgraded from MapX3.5.1 to MapX4.0. and then upgraded to 4.01
from the net. My problem is the geodictionary. My application needs to
creates a point layer from a MDB table using a mapinfo table as
reference layer. both the data map files are in sub directory -
'Data'.

In MapX3.5, I used to copy geodict.dct file to appl. path set the
geodict path from the geodictionary manager. it works fine, creating
point layer

When I try the same in ver 4.01 to create the pnt layer using bindlayer,
I get a error - 'The specified reference layer is not installed in the
geodictionary'. I tried copying geodict.dct file in my appl. path;
setting the new geodict path from geodictionary manager registering
the map file, but get the same error. Any suggestion ..

I don't have much idea abt the settings of the geodictionary. The online
help is not very clear. I would be glad if anyone can explain me abt
setting the geodictionary w.r.t having more than one mapx appl. in one
standalone system wherein each application have data maps in their
respective sub directories all the appl. use bindlayer method for
creating point layers.

Thanks in advance

Kumar

MI ODBC Uploading.

2000-03-31 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi

I am using mapinfo 5.0 version.

I successfully upload the map data of an coverage(but it is
storing the centroids of the polygons as x,y coordinates) and retrieve
them back as point data. But I need to upload line and region data also.

I am using mapcatalog.mbx and upload.mbx files from Tools to upload the
coverages. Can you kindly suggest me how to get polygon data or supply
me if any readymade code or mbx file available with you.
I am using Informix as backend database. I would like to get the above
facility without using spatial ware datablade.

MI Centroid

2000-03-27 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi

In one of the applications I am working , I have state boundary map and
a separate database(Infra.mdb) having infrastructural facilities for
each of the states. Using a geocoding prg, I geocode the infra.mdb(Point
Layer) using the state map. Now all the infra facilities(Points Layer)
are placed one upon other at the centroid of each state . I would like
to separate out the points so that all the facilities of each state is
visible.

One tedious way is manually separating the points which I don't want to
do.

Is there any way to change the centroid of region by Mapbasic coding. Or
any other method by which I can separate the geocoded points by MB
coding. Any help is this regard would be appreciated.

Re: MI Centroid

2000-03-27 Thread Anish Kumar P

Hi Rajiv

Thanks for your response. I did use the Disperse.Mbx with infra map
over the state map . But as mentioned below the dispersion should be w.r.t to
the state boundaries. Once I execute the disperse.mbx, the program disperse the
pnts irrespective of the state boundaries, thus giving a false information
when thematic map is created. I would like the dispersion of pnts should lie
within respective state polygons.

Kumar

there is a mbx avialable in mapinfo tools called "disperse.mbx". this should
take care of dispersing the points.

MI Subject: Automated Mapping

2000-02-26 Thread Anish Kumar P

Subject: Automated Mapping

Hi

We have an enquiry for developing telephone cable network from Mapbasic
Programming. The requirement is mentioned below.

There are about 4 different layers namely Roads, Plots, Sewage , Storm
drains. Given two points, one at the subscribers' place(Plot ) and other

at a Pillar, is it possible to automate drawing cable by finding the
shortest route along the road without passing across the storm
drains(separate layer) or sewage lines(separate layer) or plots(separate

layer) through mapbasic coding.

Can anyone help me in this regard. Is there any demo program which can
be made available to me .

Regards

Kumar
