[MCN-L] Secure Mobile Device Charging Lockers/Cabinets/Stations
Does anyone have any experience with secure mobile device charging lockers/cabinets/stations (example: https://chargetech.com/product/cell-phone-charging-locker/) where a visitor can securely leave their device plugged into a charger? Can you share your experience? Brand/model recommendations? What do you wish you had known before you bought yours? How much did it cost you? Other thoughts, considerations, etc. you can share? Re: [MCN-L] Digital signage rough cost estimate
Matt, Not sure if you are still looking for numbers, but we are actively evaluating digital signage solutions (currently we've looked at 4 different solutions - FourWinds Interactive, Toshiba, Ping HD and Tightrope/Carousel) and we are seeing the following for costs (per display) inclusive of media player, licensing, tech support, warranty, etc. The price does not include the actual display/TV, any custom integrations with systems like ticketing, scheduling/event management, etc. or ang on-going professional design/creative services. Year 1: $700-$2,300 Year 2+: $100-$600 We've looked at both on premise and cloud based solutions as well as media player and media playerless solutions. Re: [MCN-L] Elevator digital signage
Desi, We recently looked at installing digital signs in our existing elevators and it was too costly (~$10K for 3 elevator cars). Alternatively, we installed signs directly outside the elevators on every floor. Our goals for these signs are first to replace the physical signs throughout the building and in the elevators that are not accurate since we are temporarily using our galleries for exhibitions/collections that wouldn't normally be there while our other building is closed for remodeling. The second goal is to experiment with these signs (messaging, wayfinding, etc.) as we think about the re-opening of our second building and how we'll use the digital signs in that building/throughout the campus. It is TBD if these signs will stay installed once our other building re-opens, but based on the positive feedback I'm hearing, I'd be surprised if we take them down. Our digital sign vendor is Four Winds Interactive. The elevator signs are using their media player-less solution. We've looked at a number of other vendors (Ping, Toshiba, Tightope, etc.) as part of the building remodel project and I would be happy to chat more about what we are seeing. I was intrigued by the digital signs in the elevators by the Luce Center at The Met. The content changes as the elevator stops at each floor to show you what is on that floor. Seems pretty basic, but I thought it was done quite well. Re: [MCN-L] IT SIG: IT Managing AV?
When I started at the DAM AV was not in IT, but we have since moved it into IT since we share some similar equipment and there are some shared skill sets between the two departments. Our AV department's responsibilities include: - Presales for external clients hosting an event in a number of spaces throughout the museum - Providing equipment and staff support for external client events - Providing equipment and staff support for internal (staff, support groups, board of directors, etc.) events - Occasionally they work with external AV companies that are hired to support internal and external events - Service/maintain AV equipment inventory - Run our 266 person auditorium including projection and control rooms - Consultant when needed on AV equipment installations in galleries to support an exhibition - Video editing for internal and external clients We have 1 FT AV Manager and 6 AV on-call techs that work as event support demand dictates. Re: [MCN-L] Cloud Exit Strategy / Termination Policies
Kate, This isn't exactly what you are looking for, but maybe there are some learnings from source code escrow services. If you aren't familiar with source code escrow, it is a service where a vendor keeps and maintains a copy of the source code for their software/application in a third-party escrow account. If a qualifying event takes place (i.e. vendor goes out of business), the source code is released to the customer and the customer has rights to use the source code. These services are common for business critical applications where the livelihood of a company/organization is dependent on an application. I personally don't have any agreements to share as I've only researched these services and never purchased them. I'm sure a quick Google search will give you a number of vendors to look at, but at one time Iron Mountain offered this service. We're evaluating Confluence as a collaborative platform for document sharing and project management. My question is around form add-ins. We have many, pretty extensive forms that exist as Word docs, presently. We'd like to use a form add-in in Confluence to eliminate the amount of Word docs floating around and streamline the submission process. I would be so grateful for any feedback around the questions below! -Which form add-in is the best (has the most/best features, is not clunky and allows you to manage the data captured in a variety of ways)? -In the case of long, text heavy (very narrative) forms where users might actually have to draft and edit responses - is there a form that can handle this? For example: a) save a half-completed form in Confluence before submission and go back to it later b) save a draft of the submission as a document outside of Confluence for editing c) edit submitted forms I'm aware these requirements sound like people need to make documents and not forms...but dumping documents into Confluence doesn't seem to automate requests/service requests. I'm a bit puzzled about the right direction, admittedly. -Has anyone worked with Confluence developers that can build custom solutions and integrations? Thanks in advance for your replies.
