Re: [MBZ] W124 Evap RR -- *Was* Severe lack of link
Hi Gang -- Hendriks email came through last night (5/5) at 1126PM - the 1st email on the MBZ list I have rec'd since Apr 30 at 6AM! Hopefully this gets posted I am deep into my Evap replacement and while my w124 is a little newer than Wiltons, his instructions have been perfect! Small differences like MB using Torx screws rather than Phillips screws - a small change but my tool box is better able to deal with Phillips in small far away places than Torx. The Torx drivers (the ones I have at least) are only about 1/2 long and need an adapter to fit with a ratchet extension - and the adapter makes it impossible to fit into the small places where the Torx are found. So i am now disassembling the box and of course I broke the end of the rod Wilton warned against doing. After struggling for 2 days to get the box out - being careful not to cause damage - the box came out and when I disassembled the control rod i found the end broken. I am sure I broke it so now I need to find another or decide if I can fix it later without taking the dash out again. We'll see. It just dawned on me that my email may not make it to the list - no idea if my previous emails made it or not. Oh well, enough writing - going to start working n the evap early - warm weather is due on Thurs. Rich Thomas wrote: http://dougdemuro.jalopnik.com/german-reliability-the-greatest-myth-ever-sold-to-amer-1572026115/+zacestrada There's a difference between durability and reliability. Mercedes ARE durable, at least the older ones I have personal experience with. My 1979 300SD (about 300,000 miles outside of my control, several years of it seemingly under total neglect), is holding up far better than my 1989 Detroit brand that I owned since new. Reliability seems to depend on how much rubber or how many capacitors are involved in keeping the part in question functioning properly. Re: [MBZ] window switch w123
Autohausaz says list on OEM is 225 and they sell it for 215. This is the front RIGHT switch, without the lockout. The pivoting trigger part broke down near the roller ball so the ball comes out. I could simply use a trigger from another switch, and put it back into the old one, so if anyone has an extra single switch from either rear door in a later model car, that would probably work. You can set up a very strong encryption on the database, and then you just have to recall the long password you used to encrypt it. The Android keepass2 has an option to just enter the last few characters of the password, if you configure it to do so - I'm not sure how secure it is, but it's pretty handy. I synchronize my database to Google Drive and occasionally email so I can access it from my work, home, and various devices. I have tried a notebook but too often I'm stranded in one place or another without a password, or the notebook gets wet and I have to reset the passwords. Also, my mental random number generator isn't, so the inline password generator is handy. Now I just remember my phone encryption, Google, and Keepass passwords, and everything else is under those. For Genuine Mercedes. URO is $28. Like the esteemed doctor says since labor to replace the switch is so cheap go cheap. Somewhere I've got a pair out of my '83 240D that were aftermarket, I can't remember the brand (not URO) but I didn't pay more than $30. They worked fine. -Curt Date: Sun, 4 May 2014 18:05:19 -0700 From: Karl Wittnebel atypical...@gmail.com To: mercedes@okiebenz com mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] window switch w123 Message-ID: CAHgbGs09pJPc1ROpFYwfHSeK1WjFLpe=qruxmhiuakey1wu...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Autohausaz is over 200 ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. Re: [MBZ] you buy cheap cheap window switch w123, good price for you Mister
I am pretty sure I posted a link that said the dealer price for this is 135, not sure where the 200 came from? Even though it may be easy to replace, the problem is if it fails with the window down, it's a pain, especially if you're on day 2 of a 5 day road trip. I would look for second hand first before buying crap, these switches are reasonably technical and would be pretty hard to copy properly. I probably have a set of these in the shed somewhere but alas, distance is the thing that separates us. Also there are two versions, left and right. One has the extra button. Hendrik who should think about a new regulator for his 124, it works slowly On 07/05/14 10:56, Curt Raymond wrote: For Genuine Mercedes. URO is $28. Or maybe 47 1/4 hours later. I sent this from an unregistered account so it needed to be approved before it got posted. My real intent was to see how long it would take to get the message saying the post needed to be approved; and I got that message almost immediately; which told me that the OkiBenz server was working fine. -Original Message- From: Mercedes [mailto:mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com] On Behalf Of Meade Dillon Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2014 9:05 PM To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: Re: [MBZ] Message Test Received 45 minutes before you sent it...
