The OM603 is what made the trip to ND and returned. I have given the swap a
bit of brain time. Consideration, not actual implementation. I suspect there
will be a bunch of stuff that wants to be swapped with it. Change over from
long wheelbase to shorter it a head scratcher. I think it would be less
complex to put a 617 back in the hole.

Sounds line crude price went down again, so maybe the general 1.869 will
return, and the few places with 1.81.

Dissel as low as 2.49, but most ripping off at 2.79-2.89 with a few higher.

2018-12-13 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Sunroof is not the source of my leak, I've proven that by sealing it off
with duct tape. The only other holes in the roof that are factory are for
the roof rack.

It is possible that there is another rust hole somewhere that I haven't
found, that is allowing water to get into the passenger side.

I just know that it is a PIA to R/R the kick panel in cold weather and I
always misplace those little plastic screw cover clips... I might venture

Is this the normal exit for this drain or is it a rusted out hole?

I can’t see the actual exit because the hinge is blocking my view.

Re: [MBZ] Tossing an OM602 into a W126?

2018-12-13 Thread Randy Bennell via Mercedes

Didn't you make a run to ND relating to one of your sons a year or so back?
Why not make a run to get the motor and haul it home yourself?
All you need is a vehicle with a hitch and a trailer. Buy or rent a
trailer, or rent a van or pickup and go get it.

Or, am I way off in thinking that the engine from the "police car" that
is so rusty could be swapped into the other car that needs the engine?

Re: [MBZ] Hepl! 85 W123 sun roof drains

2018-12-13 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Bravo!

Floyd has inspired me to spend a tube of caulk on the roof of The White
Whale in an attempt to solve my water leak. I'm about 90% sure that my
problem is the rubber seals under the roof rack rails, so rather that go
through the pain of R the headliner to get to the screws to R the roof
rack rails, I'm simply going to apply black caulk around all points of the
rails. White car, dark grey rails, if I use some tape to mask off the
white paint a quarter inch or so from each rail, so I get nice straight
lines of caulk, it probably won't even be so noticeable. All the rust on
the right side and rear tailgate are enough of an eyesore to distract from
the roof.

If I solve the leak, I can probably drive The White Whale for a few more
years.

2018-12-13 Thread Michael Esh via Mercedes
I could just see it from the drivers footwell after removing the kick
panel/footrest. The underdash panel was removed as well.

Is this the normal exit for this drain or is it a rusted out hole?

I can’t see the actual exit because the hinge is blocking my view.
