In my talking with the tech fellow at the factory (Wayne), I was told for
desulphating they recommend one battery per charger. Since our truck has
four batteries and I have other vehicles, too ...

This model of charger (12117TC) starts working at 6.5 V; if the battery
is lower than that, it won't start.

The model 1510 (which cannot be had at $19.95) starts working at 3.0 V,
or one could use a "dumb" charger to bring the battery up initially.

Wayne also said it takes 2 - 4 weeks to rejuvenate a battery.

That is the RedFin approach. Since I am not in residence, and SWMBA is far too
busy to get drug into the miasma of selling the place, we thought it best to
have a pro do the dirty work. Fewer fist fights and tears if I am not on the
ground. Also, I would work very hard to make the place all wonderful, but it
would take me a few years to complete the task, and somebody is really really
eager to be quit of the tax bill and to stop paying the bills or even
contemplating upkeep for the place. She has her own cabin in the woods that
requires extensive repair.

Re: [MBZ] OT Hey Dan get on that gravy train quick!

2021-05-20 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Easiest way to do it and avoid all the BS is to engage a flat fee
listing/realtor. You pay a flat fee, like maybe $500-$600, get a menu of
additional services you might want, then they list it on the MLS and handle all
the showings and scheduling. You set the buyer’s broker fee as well.

I’ve sold two homes this way, as well as a couple by FSBO, and the flat fee
approach is well worth the expense of paying the buyer’s broker. We’ve set
commissions as low as 1.5% and they’ll still show the place. It takes all the
hassle out of the process and gets you the visibility you need on the local MLS.

The last house we sold cost us $600 + 1.5%. It sold the day after it listed to
the first showing.

no idea that the stuff that should be part of the realtor magic wants paid.
Staging, photos, 5 color glossy brochures, web page, 3D camera. Even the
“virtual” staging wants paid. Take that out of you darn fee.

With the market as hyped up as all the estate folks were chanting, what the
heck do I need to pay you a five figure bonus to peddle the place? Stuff a few
folks through the door. There is so little inventory, there will be enough
people who will pay and not ask questions, just to keep from being over bid and
having to prolong their searching while prices rocket up, supply tightens, and
building material quintuples in price.

No place to park the analogue vehicle. HOA is harsh, and SWMBA is even worse
about it. It would have to be arctic climate proof and live within walking
distance of the dwelling. Maybe when the SEA ranch sells, I will gather my
pennies. Wait for the border to open again, and find a car for AlCan Adventure
drive.

What calls to me would be a FJ 45 or Landy II

I am returned to GWN. Adventure over the past weekend was to pick up SWMBA at
the airport, drop off air freight shipping, then hit the homestead to gather

boy. Heading east was the decade old RAV4. No nannies in the thing and it had
just gotten major service with my demand that all fluids and filters be
changed, I did not care how pretty they were to the technicians eye, make them
new.

We only made 400 miles the first leg of the trip and overnight in ID. Did
around 500 through all manner of twist and turns with continental divide the
next day, meeting #1 boy at Costco and SWMBA getting into her new CRV.
Overnight in Billings and then hit the road back west. SWMBA did the initial
leg with all the bells, whistles, and nannies engaged. She was remarking every
time a car passed or some active interference took place by the installed
overlord. I got the second leg and turned it all off except for adaptive
cruise. Damn thing still got up in my grill and told me I needed to stop for a
cup of tea because I was obviously not paying attention in the manner it deemed
I should be. It also would not comply with my desire to set CC above the
posted limit by more than three miles. All manner of flashing on the display
and warnings when I tried to make it go just a bit fast. Cruise does not work
above 90 anyway.

By the time I got back to the house to do the load out on the CRV to ship thing
to GWN, I had to pull the SL out of the garage and bask in all the analogue
glory to be able to re-center myself from nanny state overload.

That is what I am hoping for. Realtor is at the property right now putting
spit shine on it so he can list it for a few bux below seven figures (that gets
more eyeballs, even though it is expected to be bid up by enough to purchase a
Harvard Education). This is a postage stamp lot with a great location in
deepest darkest virtue signal land. There is talk of including the SL as part
of the purchase. Still expected to take him longer to fly the drone for
outdoor pix, set up the magic 3D cams and stitch them together for the walk
through website, and collect the befouled face diapers after open house, than
it will take to get multiple over-priced offers. Should be closed before July.

Recycling the "F-150 Lightning" nameplate for a truck involving
electricity is OK with me. Especially since the Lightning trademark
might have been aging into "use it or lose it" territory. (like the
Cobra name when they came out with the Pintostang Cobra II that Jill

Calling an electrified mommywagon "Mustang" is ridiculous.

Re: [MBZ] Nanny car adventure

2021-05-20 Thread Kevin Kraly via Mercedes
They even have “nannies” on RC cars. A few brands have active vehicle control
(AVC), and then, Traxxas came out with Traxxas Stability Management (TSM). It
controls traction by regulating the power of the motor/engine, and a gyro built
into the receiver regulates the steering servo to keep the car straight as it’s
sliding or bumping over rocks. Of course, for fun factor, most of the time, I
keep mine off!! On the street, it has saved me from crashes when I get a little
too wild.

2021-05-20 Thread Jim Cathey via Mercedes
BIL/SIL 'downsized' recently. Their 6b/5b home in a gated community in
Gig Harbor, put on the market for 7 figures, sold in three days. With the
proceeds they bought a slightly smaller home nearby, for what I thought
was a choke-to-death price, and still had enough left over to put a kid or
two through college.

The housing market is simply nuts right now!

Excellent!  Inspiring work.

My blue 95 sedan has rust issues, and recently has weird rear suspension
behavior, now I'm wondering if a rear subframe mount has broken loose.

Maybe 4500, given the low miles, but probably not even that.  In addition to
the broken hood star, the "diesel" lettering on the trunk is falling off, so
somebody has neglected this car.  White with a grey interior, a tad exciting

I didn’t remove the old mount or the subframe. I cut out the rusted metal then
thoroughly de-rusted the remainder - including inside the mount cavity with
multiple applications of naval jelly over a period of several days. The
remaining in tact mount (2 out of four walls) and thick baseplate was
surprisingly strong enough to not collapse. I then welded 16 gauge sheet metal
over the missing sections. I used weld through primer on the inside and back
surfaces of the mount and new metal. I will spray the inside of the cavity with
fluid film and replace the perished body cavity plugs with new ones once it’s
all painted.
